Edit - Made a mistake saying Harvest Moon when I meant Animal Crossing! Let me know what you thought of this one - the game is flawed, but still very addictive in my opinion. Be well SwitchUp Family! Mark
SwitchUp In these scary times with this nasty corona virus freaking folks out, it’s such a great sight to get a video such as this to cheer us up! Thanks guys, this is the channel we need right now!
Right, so HM is still way off then. I was wondering how I'd missed out on it! I really love the PMD games. I don't find them flawed, I think they're super fun, immersive, and addictive. I'm eagerly playing the remake now, am hours into it and having a blast. I've been a fan of the series since Blue and Red Rescue Teams. I was ecstatic to learn they were remaking it, and it lives up to the hype for me. Hopefully this series will also see all its generations remade in time, same as they have started doing for the main series (even if it's slow going).
@@SwitchUpYt totally got some old gen headaches but nothing too off putting. Having to go to sleep and wake up every day is unnecessary but I understand for story sake.
I kind of agree with the simplistic combat. Being a long time fan of the mystery dungeon series, I've grown used to it, but mechanics such as position damage boost would've made combat a tinge bit more interesting. Here's hoping we get a new mystery dungeon with a more updated combat and gameplay mechanics.
I was gonna get Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna the Golden Country but after hearing from Pokémon Direct that this game is coming I'm getting it not only because I love playing the series, I want to support it as well.
I have some very fond memories of playing, beating and replaying this game over and over bc it was so fun when I was a kid. Its honestly a very pretty remake, it's a shame they didn't add some more obvious quality of life features like easier controls (as I found out fumbling around in the demo) but I hope most people enjoy it. I've kind of....fallen out of love with Pokémon but it's a great simple spin off that as you said will likely reduce in price in the near future.
Actually in the Explorers game, the dungeons have more variety as an upgrade. I hope they remake that too to really show off the beauty this game has achieved during its early years.
Ha, I had fun with the edits for your mispronunciations! I didn’t care for the demo and I still don’t know why people are so excited about this game. ( FWIW I’m not into Pokémon games ). Good to know it opens up a bit for those who enjoy it 🤷♀️. It should be $15 TOPS ( I wouldn’t pay that either , I don’t think ). Thanks for an honest review. Laura.
I used to play back in gba times, and its a great game as a pokemon fan. But just upgrading the graphics isnt enough for me to buy it. Paying $60 is completely out of question...
I played PMD series on DS, didn't knew they will actually remake the first one on switch, i'll probably grab the game and hoping to see changes tho, btw nice review man ☝️
I totally agree with this review. I don’t regret buying it but do with it was maybe $10 cheaper. But it’s a good title but yeah think it should have taken the leap like Zelda did
I think you can't compare Mystery Dungeon to Sword/Shield. It is such a different experience as in one game you catch and train Pokémon and in Mystery Dungeon you are a Pokémon. I might be biased because i played it when it released on DS but i still love the game to this day and even re played it many times. Now i can enjoy the Game yet again with better graphics and on a bigger screen and i am sure i will be playing it for many more hours. The music is also one of my favorites in the franchise and i instantly get goosebumps while listening to most of these songs. Also it was the first game which brought me to tears because i got so engaged with the Story and it has kinda a sad ending (no spoilers to be found here). And there is so much more to do in this game like recruitung legendary Pokémon and exploring more Dungeons so it is definitely worth it and anyone should keep playing it even if the beginning might be repetitive and seem boring (but isn't that with many RPGs as well?). I think you can compare it to Monster Hunter where you have to fight the same Monsters over and over again until you get a better Armory and better Weapons until you can finally take on bigger Monsters (which can also take dozens of hours until you can progress further on in the game but it pays off in the end)
touhou genso wanderer gave me the same vibes of simplicity and repetition. i was kind of hoping for something more in depth with pokemon mystery dungeon but oh well 😂 thanks for the review!
Want this game. Not sure to buy. Until I watch this review, since it's from the dudes I trust most with reviews. Update: Loved the review. It's just up my alley, going to buy! Love you guys!
Hey guys hope you keeping safe and well during these trying times. Never played this off point of the Pokémon universe and the price will put me off from buying although I thought the demo was adequate.
Nice review Mark, I’m not Pokémon fan, only played one Pokémon game in my whole life that was Pokémon Stadium way back on the N64.. but I played this demo honestly this game didn’t hold my attention at all.. idk if because i don’t play Pokémon games or something.. I didn’t have a clue what going in the game, I know one thing I wouldn’t pay $50 for it.. I’m jus saying!
Another entry into Pokémon to line Mario’s pockets. Doesn’t seem like a bad game and may be a fun game for fans and younger players needing the next step in gaming.
It is addicting tbh. There are good additions to the story and it was a fun game. I love the brutal post game missions. Damn did I grind for the legendaries! Also Mark? Mana? Really? 😅
Finally someone who knows how to do a COT damn review for this game.. I seen one from Luis and it was 💩 Ign 💩 other reviewers 💩.. SwitchUp straight 🔥💯🔥
after hear your review, i'm kinda shocked up myself that i will skip a pokemon game. I love dungeon crawler but with the lack of good thing for me i think i'll take it if this on discount
Sorry, Pokemons, I never got the chance to understand you, and I really cannot care less! But if is a review from my favorite SwitchUp team I will enjoy even you.... strange creatures)))
Played the free demo. Press button once to auto travel the dungeon and repeat another single button spam for combat, Job done. May have been the most uninspiring demo I've played in my life. Bought it for my daughter as she likes the Mystery Dungeon games supposedly but I don't think she's even put an hour into the game so far.
This was my fave pokemon game on gameboy Advance, got the demo but super disappointed with this. the lack of progression in the gameplay - being stuck to a grid made sense in the 90's a pokemon game that didn't evolve :( and the animation is pretty weak... Inspired me to dust of my gameboy though
Within the first 10 minutes of hte demo I hated it. I found it really boring and simplistic. Maybe that was a failure of the demo, in which case the demo should have been different!

SwitchUp I started looking up what harvest moon game was coming out immediately afterwards 😂
I get them confused as well 😂

Absolutely addictive, an hour turns to four almost instantly. It's fun to be a Pokemon and not a trainer.
Drew Ciccotelli Yeah, it’s flawed but VERY addictive! Mark

This review really shines at how SwitchUp ALWAYS does an honest review and stays lighthearted, The Squirrel part made me laugh
Chicken Perm hahaha cheers man! Mark
I have fond memories of the original but I can't help but feel that this should've released at $40.. $50 max
I have super fond memories of this game but I don’t think I had a clue what I was doing in the original dungeons 🤣❤️

Got this for £40 and I love it I am addicted and it's nice to have a game that breaks up the long games like fire emblem, Zelda or Witcher
I was gonna get Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna the Golden Country but after hearing from Pokémon Direct that this game is coming I'm getting it not only because I love playing the series, I want to support it as well.
There is a demo available on the eShop. Might help people make their decision.
Indeed. I really didn't enjoy the demo but liked the actual game safety the initial curve. Mark

Since Azure's Dream - I absolutely love this style of gameplay - I really need to get this game
Same as you Mark, I completed the demo but i really wanted to keep playing lol! Just grabbed it from curry's for a reasonable £37.99! 👌
I love the way you review them and you don’t just say its only one thing like you talk about the good stuff and bad stuff. Excellent review!

“Harvest moon days away now...” Animal Crossing? 😅

This game is pretty awesome. Be great if they’d make a whole new one.
how does this man have 8k views and 100k subscribers? it's only been 2 months after this video was posted.

Yeah I'd say you're not alone there. Mark
Play until the end game guys, then it becomes hard as hell, same as the original. This is a dungeon crawler, think about it.
I found the demo charming but the price is too high for me. I'd rather pick up a few indie titles for now.

Cheers mate appreciate it! Mark
Try beating Purity Forest
I fell asleep 20 minutes into the demo. it’s a paaaassssss for me dawg
Hehe yeah fair play
Looks fun but I'm in no rush to get this
Yep
Size is 2.1 and not 3.2GB
Thanks Boris
Meh, maybe when it's 20 bucks in two years
Is it 20 now?
Drop in price ... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ... I like people that are still full of hope:)
Malleus1655 hehehe you can always buy it 15% cheaper via third party haha
Try beating zapdos.
Arghhhhhhh!
Yay Pokemon!!
Wasp Nyan Yeah, a fun game - albeit a slightly flawed one! Mark
@@SwitchUpYt felt the exact same way on the first gba version, but once the endgame levels sets in they become brutally hard.
This game is too overpriced in my opinion. Its not a true remaster like that Zelda game from last year. Should be $30.
Wow this review is pretty awful. Shame Ed, I usually hold switch up in high regard
