the more "new" things we see on the field the more I think to myself "Maybe its a good thing Bowmen's field experience was during the catch up". On the other hand *Urge to shotgun things to protect the team rising* Enjoying the series
I encountered Androns in my Xenonauts 1 game with my backup team once. We had tier 2 grenades and rockets, but the tier 2 weapons were still in transit. Once I was out of explosives, including the spare rockets on the extra strong rifleman I had, I actually found that the pistol became my best friend. My rifles and especially shotguns were doing little to no damage because of the Androns' heavy armor, and ammo was becoming an issue. Because every shot shreds a minimum amount of armor regardless of damage dealt and pistols cost relatively little AP to fire, I handed off the sniper's and heavy weapons guy's backup pistols, switched the shotgun guys to their own backup pistols (better range), and pumped a bunch of rounds into the few remaining Androns to shred their armor and then followed up with rifles and sniper rifles to punch through the remaining damage reduction. I had to use salvaged enemy weapons to clear the ship out and had lots of casualties, but we finished the mission in the end.
Well...as much as it's a shame to see Walrond go, I think (objectively), that was the best death of the series so far. If this is any consolation at all, of course. That Andron just went through the building like a fricken Terminator and turned that boy into plasma goop in one shot. Doesn't get better than that ;)
I think Xenonauts 2 is hardcodded to melt your troops from time to time... most of time its the tank, it just comes out out of fog and BAM.... your best dude is a crater.
The variation in damage got Walrond. 73 points of damage will take out most anybody. You can't plan for that sort of thing. In fact, the previous death was similar, except from longer range. But it did 60 points of damage, which is more than most Xenonauts can take. Could have been 15, and Kazorm would have said "'Tis but a scratch!"
Strange. I saw Androns only with Wraiths when playing v4 when it was on experimental. Psyons have cyberdrones Sebilians have Reapers Wraiths have Androns. Just like I'm X-Com each race have their own terror unit
@@RetconRaider I played to the point where the game tells me "that's it, wait for milestone 5!", the cleaners never did anything again till that message or since. You get some nice base upgrades when you take them out however. Still much of the game missing though. Some research projects just ends in "place holder" when completed, and Plasma Weapon research didn't give me Plasma weapons? Just some nice upgrade options for laser weapons. Great game so far though! Been having some serious 1994 X-COM flashbacks! I think if they had the money, they could easily make a better X-COM then Firaxis.
8:28 and that is _exactly_ why I don't charge into buildings without either enough AP to back out or hefty backup. Edit: In your defense, the civvy running around inside made it seem like the building was clear. I get it.
I love how the enemies are mostly just rifle holding reskinned humans lol just noticed that. I think in xenonauts 2 they couldve made the androids bigger and give them wrist mounted energy weapons. And the reptiles when shot couldve went mad sometimes and into a melee frenzy like the brutes from halo. The mod Xcom-files for the original had some amazing enemy ideas and phoenix point did aswell. Oh man sad phoenix point bombed
Apparently the early models for Androns did have arm-mounted weapons, but they were redesigned to have hand-held weapons because they didn't like the way it looked. Although not specific to the Sebillians, I believe all of the non-robotic enemies *can* panic or go berserk, but it's relatively rare. Sectons break the easiest, but they're also the most trivial threat. :)
I don’t think you made any mistake there with Walrond - you really couldn’t tell where that Andron was going to appear. Unfortunately, you can do everything right and still not win.
Pro tip: androns can shoot exactly as far as they have to in order to ruin your day
RIP Walrond. Fought an Andron, now Angone but not foxgotten.

31:19 This was epic. Like straight from terminator ;)

It’s my strong willed that kept me still rocking

Live by the RNG die by the RNG
Here’s hoping we live a bit longer
I have to say tough robot gunner/people-eating bug jumpscare is the most gripping point in all turn-based-kick-alien-ass games.
briefly: I love this cardiac-arrest passion.
Oh! There’s shield upgrades now! That should make them more viable later in the game.
Yikes, casualties starting to pile up. RIP Lt. Walrond.
Androns! Androns everywhere!
I actually though you were being quite causionary. getting one shot like that was crazy.

Sebilians and reapers are the easiest combo (unless youre on timed mission) just dig in and blast em apart...
10:21 I think it might've also just been bugged out. It went through how many turns without ever making a move, two.
RR, that Cleaner Facility is worth taking sooner then later btw :-)
Eh, yeah, I figured. It just feels weird taking them out before they've really done much of anything. RNG's kept them really quiet this campaign. :)

Playing as them would be cool and they have cool uniforms
Reb is almost ready to head to the front

Yeah, I was relying on the sound cues. Turns out they're not as reliable as I had hoped they might be. :)
Aaaa! Not another Raider down!

Spoiler
At least he got a rhyme to commemorate him.
Like and good video.👍👍
