When you enter a toll road you do so on the premise that you will get from A to B in a quicker and more efficient way. Often, once you enter the toll road you get stuck in a car park with little to no way of exiting. Entering a Toll Road is purchasing a service, if that service does not guarantee you to get from point A to point B within a specified time, irrespective of what the delay was, then then the Toll Company should be made to refund the customer as the service provided was not as what was promoted. No different to receiving a refund for a defective product or service you purchase in a retail environment. By enforcing Point A to B time guarantees will certainly make the Toll companies sit up and improve their game.
I refuse to take toll roads anymore. These days I plan ahead and leave the 10 or 15 mins earlier in order to take normal roads. I've yet to see a time saving of more than 20 mins and cannot justify $10-15 to save such a short amount of time.
I got 4 outstanding toll charges and after a few months it was over 2 thousand dollars. I wrote to get some money off and was refused and had to pay it off.. criminal
I thought we had to pay tolls to pay for the road being built, however when does that stop, when is the road paid for? Where I live the local toll road has had tolls for 30 years, surely it’s paid for by now.
So uh what are my taxes being used for if I have to pay for toll road still??? Wtf is going on in this country, politicians selling out Australians left, right and centre. It's disgusting. Yet millions of people move here because it's somehow a "great" country.
It is about time for this to happen. The tolls on Australian roads are over the top. Why should we pay tolls to drive on Australian roads? It's time to get rid of these dodgy toll companies. Time to take our country back Australia.
I don't mean to brag but if you come to western Australia you won't have toll roads. You still have fines for speeding, drunk driving or anything else like that
here's what I don't understand. if state governments want to finance roads by getting future generations to pay, they could simply toll the roads themselves. Cut out the money grubbing middle man at least!
Wow, who would of thought the future generations (who had no say) would simply be happy getting gouge by the current system/contracts. 10% of her wage lol what! No toll roads in my state.
Well if they're relying on future generations, they should be afraid that the younger generations don't even want to drive a car and want more public transport.
awesome work mate i wonder if you could look into the department of housing who just let tenants destroy their properties and rehouse them somewhere else
We usually have roads that taxpayers pay that taxpayers end up owning. Now we privitised it and they never expire and start overlapping and costing a fortune and in many cases restrict quality of life. We create a more stressful society for corporate profits.
Hot take, if you live across the city because you can't afford to live closer to you work, you don't really have a choice if the choice is between either driving 3 hours or driving 1 hour and paying a toll. Let's be real here, it's easy to say this sort of crap when you're not feeling the sting of the system, but when you're actually at the pointy end of the system you'd be singing a different tune.
four corners some of the only real journalism left
they even use commas, and full stops.
There should be no toll roads. We pay enough in car rego and fuel tax to pay for roads
four corners has been cooking lately keep it up
Sportsbet, Live Nation, Coles/Woolies and now TransUrban. I would love to see this government put up a fight for once.

One of the biggest rip-offs going 'round.
have you not seen the house prices? Isn't that the biggest rip off?

So privatisation really works hmmm
Yeah right
All that money that could of been spent on public transport or fixing rural roads.

time for the tax payer to take back control of the roads, this is a drain on the economy where the profits goes straight into execs pockets.
Corruption 🇦🇺😱💩
It's appalling that Australia is doing this.
No tolls in WA and West Australians would never accept them.
oh they're trying. Watching the shit from east steadily shift into Perth is heartbreaking.

It's a bloody rip-off's.. so sick of it all.
I never go into any city. Why should I pay tolls for a greedy business and failed governments.
I willl never ever use, a toll road.
No tolls in SA
Yet.
Could definitely see a government privatising the North-South expressway and the South-Eastern Freeway at some point.
Thanks Aunty ^5

Wow much needed
They tried that nonsense in S.A 🇿🇦here but they met their match.they(e-tolls) were scrapped.
Faaaarrrkkk bloody ridiculous!
Shame on us we need roads.
It's about damn time
awesome work mate i wonder if you could look into the department of housing who just let tenants destroy their properties and rehouse them somewhere else
24:03 yeah we don't like companies making money.
Weird, if I dont want to eat at a restaurant I won't go there. If you don't want to use the toll roads why not .. not use them?
