5 years later f30 still looks like a new model. It’s a such bargain if you go with 335i m-sport with adaptive suspension, mpe and mppk. Amazing car for $22-28k (2014-2015).
Nah go for the 340i More power and the more reliable power train. Got a 2017 340i, honestly, astounding car. Even the M's don't feel like much of an upgrade minus the handling.
I own a 330d MSport XDrive, bought it new a year ago. I would agree with many of his comments but a couple of things he said don't quite add up; If you don't buy the split rear seats (extra storage option) the rear seats don't drop. I didn't pick up on this when I ordered it and it's still a sore point. Like all reviewers, he says you must get the adaptive suspension. Save your money. The standard on this and my previous 520 is great. You'd have to be doing track days or driving recklessly to need anything tighter. Rear legroom is fine so long as the person in front is Douglas Bader. His comments regarding tyre noise are in my experience accurate. I have 19" alloys, part of the MSport Plus pack. When I put my 18" non runflat winter wheels on, the car is much quieter. The economy is pure witchcraft. My 3 litre six cylinder engine returns over 50mpg on a long run and averages 45 on a tank. The car is however just about the best I have owned and to be honest, can't think of anything I'd rather use day to day.
Ian Mather It's good you pointed out the adjustable suspension because there's also the option of deleting M-Sport suspension, when choosing the M-Sport package, like this example shown here!! The M-Sport suspension is kinda harsh, to be honest!! And when choosing this suspension, the client must make sure he puts normal tyres, instead of run-flats and rims no larger than 17s!!
Ian Mather that sounds great I plan on getting a 320d m sport however if I can get a second hand 330d m sport at a good price with 1 owner and full service history with under 60,000 miles /100,000 km I'll take it
I bought a 320d yesterday and as a driver with 27 years of experience, I have to say this car is much better than any car ( Audi, Mercedes) I've had before. Its ride is so so pleasant.
@@Kraliosa To be honest I have been in a garage 3 times in the past 6 years just for the first MOT and two periodical services ever since I purchased the car. I was a bit concerned about reliability due to some specialist magazines reports but apparently those magazines have corrected themselves and in recent publications BMW has gained very good reliability score.
Absolutely love my F30 330d S drive blue, I picked it up last year for only £15,499 which was a 64 plate, 22k miles, professional media, cream leather electric heated memory seats, sun roof. With a stage 1 I still get 50mpg on a motorway cruise and 0-60 in less than 5 seconds which only 10-15 years ago was super car territory and even today is a very fast car.. faster than most cars I see on the road..

Matt. I've got this car with the standard suspension. It's not good. Too jiggly at all speeds. I suspect you're right to say the adaptive suspension is a 'must-have'. My car has a manual gearbox and I disagree with you about the offset pedals: it's barely noticeable. The centre of the steering wheel is in line with the right hand edge of the clutch pedal so not too bad in my opinion. Keep up the good reviewing.
I have a 2013 F30 335i xDrive and most people, that aren't car people, think it is a lot newer than it is, like a 2020 model. The design really is handsome and looks very modern even now.
I know this video is old but to anyone buying a used one concerned with the road noise and ride quality without the adaptive suspension, this is mostly just caused by the bridgestone runflats that come fitted as standard. Put some PS4s on and it improves refinement and ride significantly.
Spot on review. I've just got my new 320d (190bhp), built in late April. They seem to have done something about the engine's refinement, it is now impressively quiet and much better than the clattery demonstrator I tried in December.
3:10... Well in a country like Sri Lanka we can buy only small engines due to the huge taxes. so we really appreciate it if they make small engines with more power. so we can buy them!

Future 3 series owners beware! The folding rear seats are an option, they don't fold at all on standart and even the hi-fi music system (not talking about harman/kardon) is an option. The standart car comes with 4 speakers which is unheard of in a luxury brand, my bathroom speakers are better quality. I've learned about this the hard way when getting my 2017 M Sport 320i, don't make the same mistake, opt for the folding seats and the speaker system. Adaptive LEDs as well because visibility at night is very poor on long drives with the normal LEDs. Other than that its the simple best car you can get in this class. 2016 BMW 320d Xdrive m sport owner.. amazing car to drive. Fast but eco. 8 speed automatic gear box 👌🏼🔥 Thinking about buying one? Go have a test drive!
I am looking to get a 3 series and I don’t know whether to get the 318D or 320D I know they are both well equipped and comfortable I do both long and short commuting so fuel economy is my biggest thing, is there much difference between the two fuel wise?
Matt! thank you :) don't know if you read my message on Mercedes C-Class 2016 4K review where i was asking you for a 3 Series review, but thank you ! Great review, this is the car i want!
Great reviews but it would be nice if you reviewed some cheaper cars to. Ever since i subbed to this channel all i see is BMW, Mercedes, Jaguars etc etc.
I'm guessing that you're doing this one class at a time. Like you did the A4, XE and C Class so here's the next compact saloon. And after you did the E Class I'm guessing the 5 Series, XF and A6. What's next? Focus, Golf, Astra sort of thing? Loving the new channel BTW.
Anybody watching this, concerned about getting a manual, with the so called offset pedals. Don’t be. They are offset, ever so slightly, but not in anyway problematic. I took a manual out on test today, very comfortable car, soon get used to slight difference in feel. Barely noticeable. The way it’s described in some videos, that you feel like your feet are out of the car, or twisted is a massive exaggeration. I went through all the gears nicely, and operated the clutch comfortably. The only noticeably difference is having less room to rest your foot when you’re not accelerating. Go auto if you want an auto, but don’t do it based on the offset pedals comments. Try it for yourself.
I love my 320d , great looking, great economy, and its well built , will run forever as long as you keep servicing, which is vital for all cars, just that some folk don't get it and then complain when it goes wrong! Duh!

I think that in US market cars , the base suspension tuning is little firmer than the UK version. The adaptive suspension is only available as part of a sport package, and 90% are sold with the standard suspension. It's fine on my 320xi . The steering, on the other hand.....
In Egypt we have locally assembled BMWs. One of the models is a 318i that runs with the 1.5 three cylinder engine that puts out 136 HP. What do you think of this engine? I'm coming from a 2010 C180 Kompressor that has a 1.6 engine that puts out 156HP. How do these engines compare to one another? Thanks for all tour great well crafted, informative and fun videos.
Ruptured my left Achilles tendon a last month so I'm having to pick up an automatic gearbox for the first time - is there much difference in gearbox performance between the petrol and the diesel? I'm aware diesel used to be much better due to higher torque at low revs but not sure if anything has changed more recently....
Love your rewies and I have seen almost all your car reviews for all the different companies you have worked for... BUT i have to correct you in this video.. you say that if we live in a place with snow we don't have to buy the Audi Quattro anymore because you can have the 3 series with 4 wheeldrive... Bmw have made 4 wheel drived 3 series since the E30 model...... Couldn't resist it.. from a Bmw fan and owner since 1996...
Nice car, I couldn't buy one with less than 6 cylinders though, and a shame that X drive M sport models came with taller and softer spung suspension than RWD only models.
i went with 3 series its better value now huge discounts on the 3 series for new model close to 2 series pricing while 2 series prices have skyrocketed lol not worth. Bigger interior, no floating handling, and better looks all go to 3 series.
Nope. I have a heavily optioned 340i on order for £37k with a great discount. M3 with zero options and after discount is £52k. Huge difference. Might differ from one country to the other, but the gap is always going to be big.
+Awayze You'd need to add another 5-6k to the M3 for all the options on my 340i. Mine will be a tourer so 2k less for the saloon. Suddenly you're looking at 22k more for an M3. That's a lot of extra money for a car which hasn't received universal praise. 340i with M power pack is nearly as fast anyway
There's quite a lot of hard plastic a little lower - around the centre console, and around the gearstick as well. Not cool for this kind of money. Otherwise an amazing car to drive on a daily basis.
I like the 3 series BMW when it is fully equipped like this one, but they become too pricy, one thing tho: the design is too repetitive, Matt never points that out but did on the A4 which to me looks very fresh with all new interior and a refreshing design, that bmw interior has been around 4ever, I am a fan of your reviews but when it comes to 3 series' bad points u just give it pass, that ain't fair. still a fan tho
No M Sport suspension in Europe? Either soft and limp or you have to get the adjustable? I've got the M Sport suspension on my 335i and it's decent, a LOT better than the standard suspension. Having said that, it's no E90 M Sport.

Love your reviews Mat, really great, what about the 330e vs c350e?
Volvo s60 r design pleaseee
yes, please
Ruptured my left Achilles tendon a last month so I'm having to pick up an automatic gearbox for the first time - is there much difference in gearbox performance between the petrol and the diesel? I'm aware diesel used to be much better due to higher torque at low revs but not sure if anything has changed more recently....
+Stuart Gaston the auto is just fine. Get better soon
Rather get a A4 or C Class. Regretted getting the 3 series as the road noise is pretty apparent for a premium brand like BMW.
I just drove one. Beautiful car!
Yes but i don't think it was on the normal models was it? As they have only started doing it as Audi did and they were losing out
BMW should include more standard features...I'd be blind and broke building it!!
can you guys please do a 335d estate review? there is not one on UA-cam. pppplllleeeeeaaaaasssseeeeee
Are heated seats always also electrically operated seats ? Electrically operated seats is far more useful to me than being heated. Thanks.
Love the new steering wheel
This car is best i buyed this car yesterday its amazing im so happy.
1 year later😂 ... how is it after one year experience
Getting this car at 2017. Is it a bad choice ? Since it reach the end of it life cycle;(
Why is this now marked up as a review of a 2018 model when its clearly a 2015? Originally posted up in 2016?
All those extra options are expensive, I'd love all options but then you might as well get an M3.
Nope. I have a heavily optioned 340i on order for £37k with a great discount. M3 with zero options and after discount is £52k. Huge difference. Might differ from one country to the other, but the gap is always going to be big.
The zero option M3 comes with a lot of the options for a normal 3 series anyway. £15k isn't that much more for a M3
Get the b8 Passat for review. I know it's not new anymore, but it sells like crazy in central and eastern Europe.
i agree but please test the top model with 2.0 diesel which has 240 hp and 4 wheel drive
They will do reviews for the British market though as most cars in the UK are specified for that market and won't have the same standard things
Will you review the Giulia as soon as it comes to the uk ?
Giulia is a good car.. I am between this, it, Jag XE, and Cadillac ATS (or now CT4)
Excellent review
The best in class having in mind new C class and A4 interior. Driving dynamic abs steering the best including I drive and automatic gearbox.
Budget bmw if someone just want to feel the brand,if you hate the 1 series design.
would a bike be able to fit inside the trunk of this car or the a4? (of course with seat down)
There's quite a lot of hard plastic a little lower - around the centre console, and around the gearstick as well.
No lumbar support even on top spec = back pain on long drives.
Its a basic given on competitors cars!!!
No M Sport suspension in Europe? Either soft and limp or you have to get the adjustable? I've got the M Sport suspension on my 335i and it's decent, a LOT better than the standard suspension. Having said that, it's no E90 M Sport.
