Used BMW (particularly 3 the series) and VW cars have always been the most sought cars in the second hand market. Radio 702 used to regularly invite car specialists to give advise on buying second hand german cars. But ke most people in twitter (an insignificant number) seemingly only learned about beamers via twitter. For most of us beamer lovers, we've probably driven at least 4 bmws already
If owned a 320i 2013 model which I bought with 21000km and sold in 2020 when it had 123000km. The only thing outside of tires and petrol I spent on the car was servicing it at 10000km and the other service was done under motorplan, spent R300 per month on an aftermarket warranty when I reached 100 000km. These are VERY strong cars and will give you street cred. If you can find a 2019 model that is still under motorplan you will have hit the jackpot coz you can extend the warranty at BMW for about R550 per month for an extra 2 years. When I sold my 2013 model, I got a 2019 model same colour but with more features. Have never spent anything on it except now when I am paying R550 for an extra 2 years warranty. Get a 2019 model under warranty, before you buy, take it to BMW for an inspection and if they confirm the motorplan, sign the dotted line and extend the warranty when the manufacturer plan expires. You won’t regret it.
My dad has one too with 325 000 km and everything is solid, never had any major issues. Just the water pump twice and fuel pump once, other than that its been oil changes, spark plugs and the coil maybe 2 or 3 times
Such gold, well done mate, however, as an avid BMW owner myself, it must be spelt out that some parts, an owner will have to purchase directly from a BMW dealership and not goldwagen because some goldwagen parts simply don’t deliver because your BMW will demand its genuine parts, i refer, parts such as the radiators hose, in-fact almost all high temperature containing parts, your oil coolers, both the upper and lower ones, maintain the correct oil code and brand consistently, you do that, you’re good to go…
Great car. My sister has the F30 320D LCI variant with the M sport package for about 8 years now the car has do less than 60k kms on the clock. It’s feels like new. Love it.
F30 330d is one of the greatest cars ever made. All that torque makes it such a pleasure to drive long distances and will easily get over 900km on one tank. It's a shame that the 330d has been discontinued
My 320i LCI does 5.5 litres per 100km on the highway so I get 1000km on a full 60ltr tank. Town driving I get about 7.5 litres per 100km max…but I drive normal, no burnouts 😂. These are efficient cars
Just FYI, I have a 335i that's tuned to 342 wkW and 680 wNm of torque, and I've noticed that drivetrain errors often pop up when I hard accelerate with less than a quarter tank of fuel. The car pulls so hard that the fuel shifts toward the back of the tank, leading to fuel starvation. So don't let a drive train error scare you it could be so many things.
I bought my 320i B48 engine in last year. The car is fault less and such a luxurious sporty drive. Wanted a 2022 Corolla but then realized the B48 engine is also used by Toyota and the Bmw was half the price🙌 only 65 000kms on clock
I was also trying to decide whether I should buy the 2.0 corolla xr or the f30 320d. I am leaning more to the 320d as it is cheaper and more fun to drive.
I bought a 1995 model E36 325i in 2007 from a dealership in Alberton with a full service history and 235 000 km`s on the clock, that car ran like a Swiss watch for 5 years, sadly she was stolen and written off in the chase that the good guys at Tracker gave... As long as it`s been well looked after and has a good service history then most used BMW`s are a good buy...but do the homework on the car!
Hit the nail on the head, owned a N13 from GetWorth, lucky they took the car back after the coolant and cylinder head issue. But BMW makes the best diesel engine. Won't sell my E90 m47
Just picked up a 13 f30 316d sp/auto sport 1 owner 54k on the clock in pristine condition, 7k, hoped get a few years before issues start arising….👌🏴
You know honestly speaking when buying a BMW how the previous owner handled it matters immensely. You need full service history, check for damages, fixes, accidents & hope the previous owner took care of it like his pride & joy not someone working on a shoe string budget. There are some tell tale signs of a previous owner not looking after the car though
Any bmw with the n20 engine manufactured after Jan 2015 has the upgraded timing chain and guides. So only buy after this date for peace of mind. This info you will find on the internet and not from a bmw dealer. Always read the forums before buying any car to get a better perspective of potential problems.
The check drivetrain error message could be a myriad of problems though. Partner’s X2 got it recently and turned out to be an oil change that was needed. Cost around 6k at BMW.
Had the timing chain replaced on my 2012 320i in September 2023 after a drivetrain light for a rather obscene amount, the original guides are genuinely rubbish and WILL fail so be sure to ask whether the chain's been replaced
I experienced the N20 timing chain failure, sold the car as is because it was too expensive to fix. I suggest buying 6 cylinder petrol BMW’s or diesel variants. These 4 cylinder engines are shite.
I've just had (2 hours ago) a horrible experience at bmw dealership, they ignored me when wanting to ask them about purchasing 3 series. Sorry BMW, you are not getting money from me, keep your cars, they can't even hold value vs other brands.
@@justindaniel5959 correct, it's the dealership and not their cars. My view, if they are treating me like this, and I'm not even a customer, I'm not going to spend my money there.

When it comes to the F series the only ones you want are the B48, B58, N47, B47, n57. Or if you have too much money for petrol the n55.
