Auto Bild, German car mag, did a road test for emissions on a BMW X3, they found it was emitting 11 times over the limit. This test was done under normal driving conditions, not on a rolling road.
I owned a 2012 320d & can't even see any visual changes (other than the black part of front bumper) that Matt kindly pointed out. Oh and the lamps 😂.... I can see whoever was in charge of the facelift worked VERY hard
Just personal, but I still think this is the most beautiful Sport Sedan (or Sport Saloon if you prefere) on the market. Btw, 3-cylinders petrol is not good, better going for the 4-cylinder or still better the Diesel one. I also hope they won't convert the 3-series in a front-wheel drive car like they will do with the 1-series in 2016
I actually cannot get enough of that ''old'' dash (2012 = old now??!). Imo it just has a timeless yet modern simplicity to it; none of those crazy uber-curvations and bow lines in the new C Class. So easy on the eye the post 2012 3s.
You should have explained the steering rack has changed along with more bolts on the front suspension strut housings thats stopped the steering rack issues..also the diesel engine is the new one that doesnt blow up due to timing chain snapping
the black interior trim isn't specifically new, it comes with the sport trim on this model (recognised it by the red accents on the steering wheel), along with the slightly different bumpers
Cannot wait to see Caybuyer doing a comparison test among C-class, new A4, XE, and this updated 3-series!!!!!! I would bet my money on the new A4 to be the most well-around car and XE the most sporty sedan.
Always up for more Mat Watson reviews.I own a F30 335i with m sport suspension and the 19” wheels from factory. Melbourne Rot with the bright red interior. I LOVE IT!!!!!
nothing changed in the car nothing interesting about the car. it is the same as the old one that's why he is bored. however he could've reviewed the M3 for change
I just don;t get the comment on the dashboard, its classy, some are too fussy, too many trinkets make the car look cheaper i think, and there is more chance of the knobs and buttons failing, i like the dash, its grown up, and not trying too hard, i have a 320d on a 13 plate, and its a proper car, looks good drives great, and is easy on the wallet
The 2015 3 series (f30) looks like a facelift 2005 3 series (e90) The ''all new'' audi a4 is pretty much the same since 2008 The C class looks like a baby S class which I don't really like, Soo I would buy an 2015 E class ,E220 CDI the perfect all around car in my opinion and taste
tomkoempf96 I know. For me the looks are very important. I mean when you are not driving your car and its parked outside (and freshly washed) how can you not look at it the whole time?? Thats why I said ''in my opinion and taste'' Plus the E has superior technology to those mentioned above
+Styles P'yall All "m" cars have body kits and engine upgrades in comparison to their less sportier models. There's also a difference in some types of technology.
his primary concern in every car is whether the 2 lit water bottle and bag of oranges would fit in the glove box or door compartment!!! ... weird how many of us would actually carry around a 2 lit bottle or a bag of oranges
When I am old enough to drive (8 years) I want to engine swap an rx-8 with a supercharged new mx5 engine or get a Ford Focus they are nice and practical (I am a 10 year old who doesn't rice or want to be a boy racer, have faith that won't change) though I already know I am heavy footed as I have crashed twice from under steer while go karting :)
I have a question, which may sound stupid cos I don't know much about cars. If I was to get myself a stock 2015 or 2016 BMW 3 series 2L, what would be the best affordable for me to upgrade it to make it somewhat sound like an M sport?
As a person looking a the F30 I don't quite know how you can complain and call this an "entry level" 3 series when you have speced up more than £8K of extras?
+Matt Stempniak 200 war conflict and over 30 million death caused by this evil "empire". I don't like them! Great country, a lot of good people for sure, but criminal politics and corporation - no thanks Long live EU, and if possible with less US interventions!
***** I don't want to start political discussion here... But are you really? Believe it or not Europe is saved 3 times by the Russians and they paid with a millions of victims. America take part in WWII at the end it is still controversial if it isn't just to take part of the "meal". As I said America is great country with a lot of good people but with absolutely criminal foreign policy. And it doesn't matter what was in the past, because nowadays Europe take all bad consequences from US policy. And I'm highly disagree to pay for someone else mistakes.
+Jerome Thomas Iraq was ruined by suspicions which were never proved. The existence of Guantanamo is against any existing law, the Germany eavesdrop scandal, God now what place took in Ukraine, but we know what happen in Kosovo. Ecuador and Venezuela. Libya, Tunis Egypt and the whole shit with the Arab spring which bring religious Muslim instead the existed secular governments. Afghanistan and the drug. Of course the official help for Islamic state in Syria... and so on... the list is tremendous! It is time for Europe to distance from US foreign policy! Now let's talk about cars :)
Interesting this face-lift almost changed nothing. Previous generation face-lifts were stunning cars, the only BMW you should buy is always a face-lifted model. Weird :P
@Carbuyer , Should I get the petrol version instead? And 1.6 litre will do? Secondly, Like U said, Auto version is better, problem occurs when the battery dies which on the manual u can push start it whereas, Auto U need the plugs... Your thinking?
Yeah...they basically made it impossible for you to buy it with a petrol engine. The 318i has a 3 cylinder 1.5 shit under the bonnet and your only other alternative is the 340i with 326bhp which very few can afford. If you consider that Jaguar doesn't give you the XE with manual gearbox on petrols (only on diesels, WTF???) you can say goodbye to the idea of having a nice 4-door saloon with RWD in this segment. Waiting for the Giulia!!!!
Mat, cheer up, mate! I miss your enthusiastic, super positive style of reviewing. In the last reviews it feels like you've lost the vibe. All your subscribers are still looking forward to see your new reviews in your own unique manner! Best wishes to you, sir!
I own an E90 (great car) but to be honest I'm a bit underwhelmed by BMW'S these days. Might be popping down to my local Jaguar and Lexus dealers when I come to change it.
+Joshua L The other day I compared the 3 Series with the Jaguar XE. They were in M Sport and R-Sport trim respectively, but the Jaguar felt much more premium. If you're looking for a diesel saloon with good looks, strong handling characteristics, and a pretty interior, I'd definitely recommend the Jag over the Beemer.
+Joshua L Yes, I can't help thinking BMW have become a bit complacent about their position in the market - both Jaguar and Lexus offer better equipment levels and more refinement for the same money in this bracket.
Why do you always point out that the cars are not good for sitting with 3 Persons in back. Who buy´s cars like this to carry 3 Persons? We already know it!
What if VWs and Audi cars start failing emission tests, after the defeat software has been deleted and fail the MoT - who will have to pick up the bill for that?
+fred may Problem is that it looks that almost all car makers used some kind of cheats to pass the test. So it will be really hard to find someone clean.
Great review, as always! In future reviews, would it be possible to demonstrate boot space by fitting a set of golf clubs? For example, do they fit in longitudinally, sideways, or do you have to fold one of the rear seats? I have not grasp of how big/small 10 cu ft is. Cheers!
+IamDaGrouch We're working on ways to demonstrate the boot capacity. Golf clubs is one way (like on the AMG-GT video) and we're trying to find a bicycle to use, too.
Love those pink socks you sport at 2:00, checkers pattern...so bold. Nevertheless I just love your reviews and just hope you will never stop doing what you do now. I'm always looking forward to your new video. Keep up the good work.
totally normal...BMW. Ticks every box so long as you avoid this 1.5l engine and have the auto box. Dull front dash compared with the new Audi A4 though. And gets expensive very quickly.
I'm happy to see that my children wont get sick because of the emisisons. Thank you BMW for not lying. I cant belive the lying VW/Audi have done in their emisisons..this is disgraceful...
+thoravian So the difference in emission from a BMW to a VW/Audi makes your kids sick because...? Do they breath in the exhaust gasses on purpose? Your statement makes no sense at all. What a load of c.. So they lied, whoop dee fucking doo. It's not like it's killing children.. oh wait.. what?
+thoravian I wouldn't thank BMW or any other car maker yet. Word on the street(well the news actually) is that the VW scenario is that other makers will be named and shamed - so there ya go Mr Smug :)
Dahlia Man except they are not, it's only VW/Audi :) Check your facts before you mouth fart. Mercedes and BMW have both requested that they release the EPA reports so the public sees that they were not lying like VW/Audi :) ahahaha. now go cry and try to defend VW/Audi's lying.
Firstly I merely repeated what I saw on the news. Secondly and ignoring your crude uneducated reply (clearly) come back to me here in a few months when other makers have been named. Then when they have been and you reply you can apologise if you've the civility of grace. Cheers :)
+thoravian 'The emissions-fixing scandal that has engulfed Volkswagen in the US could extend to other companies and countries, one of the officials involved in uncovering the alleged behaviour has told the Guardian'. So are you a betting man?????????
Help! Looking if I could get an answer from someone with a good deal of knowledge about cars. I am looking to purchase my first car as a P plater and had a question about pricing and what's possible: I really only want to buy European/German vehicles and want to know if you could compare maintenance of how much more they really are and what costs I have to actually look out for. I want to buy a car under 10k but don't really want to budge on European. Could you give me some advice or recommendations of if it is realistic (I am looking at around 2000 models Mercedes C CLASS, BMW E46, Volvo S60. Thanks really appreciate any tips and help or overheads I would have to consider if I was to
Think I'll stick with my 2015 335GT for another year or 2 and then upsize significantly. Came from an X5M and 750Li, and to be honest, the 3 series just feels cheap. All the hard plastics on the dash feels like an American econobox, and the Dakota leather feels worse than the standard vinyl. Plus, the damn thing rattles with barely 7k miles on it. I do like the 3.0l turbo motor and the ZF 8 speed. The Adaptive suspension is pretty good, and the MSport brakes are better than the brakes my 7 had. It was rather pricey though. Sticker on my car was over $63k US. Can't help wondering if I could have gotten a better car for the money. I most likely will not get another 3 series in the future. An AWD M3 could change that, but unlikely. I'm waiting for the upcoming AWD M5.
Look at how frustrated he is with carbuyer.
You are the best car reviewer. I hope you never quit this job!
NAJKINSTA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 check out CARWOW
His shirt is giving us the middle finger.
I have a manual one of these. I wouldn't have noticed the pedal offsets if it hadn't been mentioned in many reviews.
this guy if obsessed with cup holders
I'm waiting for the Giulia.
They should have upgraded that interior by ending some chrome or metal (whatever it is) on the buttons like in the 7 series interior
But that would have made the seven series less exclusive...
+Kings mario BMW has the most boring interiors ever. Seriously looks like it's from the 90s or something.
+Sam Hall the C class and S class look very alike n they both still sale very well so I doubt it would make the 7 less expensive
+Box0rz BMW interiors are my favourite what are you on
Auto Bild, German car mag, did a road test for emissions on a BMW X3, they found it was emitting 11 times over the limit. This test was done under normal driving conditions, not on a rolling road.

love this car more than XE and C-class. who else ?
Looking at picking up a 320 in white , lovely car
nakul singh me
Massively
Disrespectful to the Audi A4
XE drives better ........but lacks the 3 litre I need in my life ......#FirstWorldProblems

This LCI (facelift) makes earlier F30 owners like me happy. Yeah. Thanks God my car wont look old, hehehe..
0:54 'for the cup holders!' pure Black Country/Brummie accent 😂
Wow, it looks amazing and great review as well!
2:32 Why is one door mirror silver and the other one is black
LOL I just noticed the logo on his shirt, Hilarious haha @2:48
You should have explained the steering rack has changed along with more bolts on the front suspension strut housings thats stopped the steering rack issues..also the diesel engine is the new one that doesnt blow up due to timing chain snapping
Carbuyer is the best web for car reviewer .... and Mat is simply Great
I think it looks really cool and the high quality that's to be expected of BMW and other German car manufacturers.
I have a BMW 320d, awesome car, great to drive in all conditions, great and frugal on fuel, a fantastic all rounder.
Great review and great sense of humor! is that a middle finger with the stars and stripes on your shirt! That's hilarious.
Good reviews by carbuyer lately :D Thanks!
the black interior trim isn't specifically new, it comes with the sport trim on this model (recognised it by the red accents on the steering wheel), along with the slightly different bumpers

Fr I own an E90 do u think its worth getting an f30
I personally like the Audi's MMI System much more. Looks better, handles better.
Why test the base car?
Because they put a 3 cylinder in it?
+layth salah because people buy base cars too ??
+layth salah because normal people buy this kind of cars
You sound a little bored lately, what's wrong?
nothing changed in the car nothing interesting about the car. it is the same as the old one that's why he is bored. however he could've reviewed the M3 for change
He had the same mood in the GLE Coupe video which is a not so boring car
+Subtr3y no more Rebecca :)
+KSERGEIBY Whats wrong ?
agreed.. maybe he is not interested in bmw
I like the middle finger on the shirt.
Still a marvelous car especially the
320d xdrive. I would always prefer this model to an Audi A4...
I hope they solved the timing chain issue for the diesel.
My mum has recently bought the a blue 3 series and she loves it everyone at her work wants it😂
The VW scandal means used VW's are going to be cheaper which is good news for anyone buying them used. A golf is going to be the best used bargain!
The 2015 3 series (f30) looks like a facelift 2005 3 series (e90)
The ''all new'' audi a4 is pretty much the same since 2008
The C class looks like a baby S class which I don't really like,
Soo I would buy an 2015 E class ,E220 CDI the perfect all around car in my opinion and taste
So your argument for getting a 2015 Mercedes E class are the looks. Cars are about how they drive and which technology is fitted into them.
tomkoempf96 I know. For me the looks are very important. I mean when you are not driving your car and its parked outside (and freshly washed) how can you not look at it the whole time?? Thats why I said ''in my opinion and taste'' Plus the E has superior technology to those mentioned above
good job!!!!! I love this video
Dear Carbuyer, it would be very interesting if you could do s comparison clip with the XE and perhaps the upcoming A4
Has BMW sorted out the steering knocking issue?? which still appears unsolvable in my 2013 328i.
It's funny. Other reviews of the 1.5 petrol 3 cylinder say that it's very smooth and refined but Matt here says they run quite rough.
Question: In terms of physical appearance there's no difference between the bmw 3 series and m3 right?
+Styles P'yall All "m" cars have body kits and engine upgrades in comparison to their less sportier models. There's also a difference in some types of technology.
Nahid125 Thanks for the info. I've been wondering for some time

Good review. Please also do the Lexus IS250
I have a question, which may sound stupid cos I don't know much about cars.
If I was to get myself a stock 2015 or 2016 BMW 3 series 2L, what would be the best affordable for me to upgrade it to make it somewhat sound like an M sport?
Do BMW's come with the "Defeater Software " option . like the VW's
+roblex63 No. BMW and Chrysler both made their claims that they did not have such problems right after VW got exposed.
As a person looking a the F30 I don't quite know how you can complain and call this an "entry level" 3 series when you have speced up more than £8K of extras?
would love to hear Matt's opinion on the VW scandal, maybe in the next Q and A?
Is this a middle finger to the Americans on your shirt? Well done :)
Count one from me as well :)
Why

I have traveled back in time to tell you, that, you are at carwow now and you look 20 years older
🤣🤣 love mat, he's so authentic
Whoa, what's with the middle finger on Mat's pocket?
Can you do a review for the new Audi A4, looking to buy it 😀
can you do a review on the 2015/2016 BMW 340i preferably the all-wheel drive version?
Thinking of buying one of these, I heard these 3 series got timing chain issues around 70000 or 80000 miles
Interesting this face-lift almost changed nothing.
Previous generation face-lifts were stunning cars, the only BMW you should buy is always a face-lifted model.
Weird :P
Hi Matt,
Why is that only in Carbuyer review we would hear that the 3Series still drives better than Jag's XE ?
Is the pedal offset present on left hand drive cars as well or is it just on UK cars?
make a review of the BMW 5 series 2015! thanks!
anybody notice the spoon at 0:43 ? then vanishes
+Nick Vernon A spoon in the spoon holder? Where do you keep yours?
+Carbuyer Spoon was on the cup holder and then it magically disappeared. As always love the videos.

Does the 3 series have a virtual cockpit as a option?
They should make it a standard like the 5 series!
Syazrin Mohd Noor You didnt answer my question.
Srdjan Smudja Sorry, but I don't think there is. Tried to look at the BMW UK website.
Syazrin Mohd Noor Well that sucks. Competitors like Mercedes, Audi or Volvo have that option.
Yes, in 2017 you can take the option to get the digital cockpit like in all newer BMWs like 5 or 7 series
What happened to the easygoing happy reviewing guy?
Is Matt wearing a shirt with a middle finger logo? Hahaha

+AdvancedEliteGaming yeah, wait a bit and you can get a really cheap german diesel car.
+Ioanides001 what happened ?
AdvancedEliteGaming fraud happened
With each passing gen, BMW headlights get closer and closer to the front bumper. The next gen might only have foglamps!
Great pin Mat.
Where'd you get that shirt?
did anyone spot the little rude finger on matt watson's shirt
when will they make a video on the audi a4
Hy guys is it a bad idea to buy bmw 320i 2013 model with over 200k km?
Was he showing the finger to BMW with that tshirt's logo???
those socks are amaaaaazing haha
Nice shirt, mate.
