Summer might be the hardest time of year to go out and catch bass, but as this video shows, you still have lots of options! Me? I'm generally dragging a jig or big wormin' with something 10"-12" or more. For a moving bait, I'm going with a swim jig on the insides of those grass lines or I'm cranking a swimbait right along the bottom really slowly with a TUSH hook.
I’m a huge crank bait fan. Some weed lines are frustrating because they are too heavy. I like to fish weed lines with a drop is where the crank baits work best. Unfortunately I do snag a fair amount of northerns at the same time. I do catch nice size bass on the crank baits.
Yeah buddy..you guys are awesome!! I'm gonna get one more trip out before my knee replacement on the 10th hope I won't be down for to long to get back after em.. thanks for the tips guys 👍😉
Hey norm I hope your surgery goes well I know how you feel I have medical issues with my back and hip and I haven't been able to go fishing for two yrs . I'm finally getting a chance to go fishing this summer. As soon as you get well again have a great fishing season this year and norm I think you're going to catch a 10 pounder this year. GOD bless you and your family.
Great job and video I have a lake in Georgia that has shell beds on a road bed. West wind helps collect them there. Twice I’ve had the shells grab my fishing line. Reel up and have them attached to the line Pretty cool have you ever seen that? Thank you 🐟🐟😎🐟🐟 I can usually get 25 to 30 pound bag there at that road bad… Great location :-)
Another great video guys!!!! When describing the equipment being used can you mention the weights you use. In the description is usually the type of bait not weight. Thanks!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!
Hey Randy thanks for the great topwater tip's always enjoy listening to you. Hey Randy who wouldn't like getting tips from a great fisherman and I always like how humble you are it's a pleasure getting taught from you. I hope you and your family are healthy and happy.
Did you see the bank angler segment at the end? I am just making sure. What type of bank angler content would you prefer? I have ideas written down but yet to shoot a bank only fishing video. - Jimi.
@@BassFishingDeclassified yes I did catch that! It just the majority of videos out there are geared towards having water crafts and definitely using electronics. Which as a bank angler I don't have. So really locating or picking certain areas to fish and what to use from the bank because some of the lure suggestions I see are only viable or at least that's how it feels, from boat or with electronics.
Any more I mostly just fish shell beds on Kentucky lake, one key I found is find the small shell beds no one else knows about and drop shot or drag a Ned rig!!
Yes! Awesome, I did not note it but the shell beds where I live and on texas lakes that I fish are not near as big as the Tennessee River lakes shell beds. Ours are very small but where you are at... You have to almost find the sneaky ones now! Good luck to you - Jimi
How can a deep diving crankbait be effective when the thermocline is up at 12ft? Please discuss how the thermocline will effect where the bass will be.
Great question. Yes if the thermocline is set up in your lake at a certain depth then you do not need to fish under it. The thermocline can also be set at different depths in different areas on one lake. I know scuba divers will go dive in the summer. They have shared how under the thermocline it is really shady / hazy. Plus oxygen is less there. This can be 20-30 ft on the lake I know the divers are in and a very clear body of water. I am going to share a video from fish the moment where Jonny goes into depth on the thermocline - Jimi
I'm no pro and I can probably guarantee you that you can beat me head to head lol but a bass is smart in it's own environment and eat a ton of bluegill I don't see how a bass can think that that worm looks like a bluegill I guarantee you that works but I don't think a bass thinks he's eating a bluegill
I live close to 5 different lakes in TN/VA that are 40 ft deep 10’ off the bank and run an average of 60’-120’ throughout. I never see anything about these reservoirs in any videos by any creator. I wished my lakes were 20’-40’ deep on average. 99.99% of videos do NOT help me or pertain to my situation. Unfortunate for those in areas like me
Yeah I have actually studied those lakes / broke some of them down before. I do not have anything like that around me. I will put this in my notes for a future video when I am talking about areas. - Jimi

Yes sir!! That I have been excited about the tush hook!
Jonny and Randy need to bring back the live chats! Those things were the best.

Ive been shooting PCP rifles a lot lately. This was a perfect video to listen to while doing some ammo testing.
Thanks Gibson!

@@BassFishingDeclassified thank you for responding! But yeah the lakes would be great, I live out here in so cal !
interesting about the bream beds. i typically associate bass eating bream with the spawn rather than summer
Yes sir! They eat them all summer long! Very specific pattern that can produce some fun fishing days

Love the rubber rattle in the spro. I seem to have bad luck with how they track, regardless of how much I tune it. Any tips?
Tuning a crank to get it to run straight can be frustrating and hard. My tip is barely turn the metal notch it with your pliers. Just barely … - Jimi.
