Katara: How'd you get all the way out here?
aang: *smiles* I ran away from home
Definitely Aang's first attempt at a pick-up line
This is truly underrated😢😢😢
Finally someone did this movie justice
I honestly love this version of the Avatar than that of Netflix
Nice. I do appreciate the practical effects of the original movie, despite its flaws. While the Netflix one was arguably better, I wasn't a fan of its reliance on digital effects. Maybe after fixing the Shyamalan movie, I'll go in and re-edit the Netflix version. ;)
Well I liked this first chapter a lot because it has many improvements. Although I would have liked that in the first scene Katarra would have been seen much better with her waterbending splashing Sokka's head and also put some dialogues that were shown in the film for Sokka and Katarra's interplay doesn't feel so empty.
Glad you brought that up! That scene has actually been edited into the final version!
It’s interesting how a live action versions of Books 2 and 3 were canceled; M. Night Shyamalan didn’t do a very great job, especially if he didn’t see the show. Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg, or Peter Jackson would’ve done a better job; it would’ve been great to have the film all three films done in motion capture.
Sokka the vampire :D
If only the original creators were involved with this movie.
They actually were involved, but did not have much influence overall. They served as advisors and were on set for several days, while giving the film their fullest support. But once they saw the final product, they quickly disowned it and alleged that part of the reason the film failed was because most of the advice they gave was thrown out.
@@unicrost
Damn you M. Night Shyamalan! It’s a shame about this movie because I think A live action movie could’ve worked. I mean the writing in the show was already down to earth and well written and even the first teaser trailer showed promise.
Doesn’t help with what Netflix is doing to it.
Seasons 2 and 3 (if they happened and learned from their mistakes from 1st), could’ve been adapted into films better.
Earth and Fire just had more going on.
@@gameman5804 Yeah, I'm certainly mixed on the Netflix version mostly because of the departure of the creators. Keep in mind, the original creators supported the film all the way up to its release. Meanwhile, they left the Netflix show before pre-production was even finished. Could this mean they sensed a Shyamalan repeat? I pray it does well, but lately, I've lost a lot of confidence in modern retellings.
Very nice
Por fin encontré esa película tanto que lo busque y aquí lo encontré en ese canal

The way they repeat fire benders in this movie sounds like power rangers😂😂😂😂
We love this original version of air bender, brilliant acting of all the cast, we also watched the Netflix series lately but we loved this one with its original casting,
lmao😂
whos we?
Aliens
lay off the drugs
Who’s we?
This re-edited version is definitely better that the pile of garbage that you know who made 😂
Shyamalan would be embarrassed 😂😂😂
Oh yeah! Also bare in mind, this is what I came up with just with the footage we have available. Imagine the possibilities if we had access to ALL the unused footage! I appreciate the compliment! 😁
@@unicrostIn today’s age, you can add additional stock backgrounds from professional websites. And with AI and motion capture, you may be able to add additional scenes that did not previously exist.
@@jonathandixon1305 I have managed to do this to some extent. Royalty free backgrounds are used a couple times, behind-the-scenes footage has been reworked to create a new scene and a Team Avatar adventure montage in Chapter 2 Part 1, and another UA-camr is working on Ai for Katara’s narrations in the final version. 😎
I like how sokka is more protective of katara, but besides that’s the movie isn’t that’s good
Yeah, it’s a shame how the original film turned out. And heck, this is just the re-edited version. The original one was WAY worse!
❤❤❤😂sii
Saludos humanos nice movie 2A ✌✌✌like it thank you 👍👍👍 👌👌👌

Zuko: who are you what’s your name!?
Aang: I don’t need to tell you anything.
Katara: my names Katara and I’m the last waterbender of ther southern water tribe

Honestly enjoyed this movie
Not the Best
But not the worst
Wtf is this!!!! Glad the netflix avatar make up for this
This is a fan edit attempt at fixing the disastrous film adaptation of Airbender. Sadly, it doesn’t fix all the problems. Believe me: the original version is much worst. 😅
@@unicrostyou did your best, it’s better than the original
Nice efforts. It needs AI to really flesh it out and fix a lot of the delivery. Maybe someday.
Thanks! This part of the edit has received major reworks since its release, and I’m excited to share it with you all in the final version!
Ai is going to be implemented a bit in the final cut by another UA-camr. But it’ll mostly be used for narrations and adding in a couple new lines to fix a few plot holes. We could look into redubbing some lines, but I can’t guarantee it’ll happen or sound convincing if we did. But once the full edit releases, people will have my permission to do additional tweaks if they choose to like polishing the vfx or making Zuko’s scar redder.
Ouuu, another thing. You should have put in the “what’s your name?” from the beginning that you took out, and out it in the tent scene where Katara talks to Aang, so there isn’t any too many voice over scenes with other voices.
I’ll try to in next one 😁
I initially didn't because her tone in saying those words was different than when she calmly asks "how did you get all the way out here?" There was also a bit of noise I couldn't remove, but I'll give it a try for the final version.
@@unicrost Ok. I just can’t wait to see the full movie on June 19th.
@@nathanviltus4362 Oh! June 19th was actually the release date for the Re-Edit's Prologue, followed by both parts of Chapter 1 the following 2 weeks. The full version of the movie won't release until after Chapters 2 and 3 are uploaded on the channel. So far, Chapter 2 is looking to be released by the end of this month, followed by Chapter 3 in December. Then, I will go back in and combine the Prologue and 3 Chapters together into a single edit.
@@unicrost You got a date for when the full movie comes out?
Hi 🎉 please how can I download this online
This edit has a few more months before it is finished. But in the meantime, you can watch the entire rough draft on my UA-cam channel. It is divided into several videos.

3:24 This is still the worst movie I've ever seen, but it's nice to see some edits like Aang's name pronounced correctly.
Thanks! We've actually managed to fix everyone's names (including Iroh and Sokka) and have made a significant amount of improvements to the film. If you are interested, a full rough draft is available for viewing. We hope to release the final, polished version later this year! :)
If this is better then I definitely don't want to see the original.
Yeah, the original is WAY worst. The re-edit doesn’t fix everything, but if you watch any clips of the original film and compare them to the re-edited versions, you’ll see loads of differences.
I remember seeing this in 2011
And I was APPALLED 😡
how he wants to burn down this village if the igloos are made of snow???
It’s possible that he may use his ship to hurl fire balls all over the village since it has that capability. Or have his soldiers bring over some fire pits to slowly burn the houses. But even that would be a bit awkward.
If Shyamalan had actually let the Fire Nation soldiers make their own fire, it wouldn’t be as much of a problem since the fire would be endless.
@@unicrost i think, this specific scenes here look more natural and real than the new trailer from netflix which is cheap green screen cgi mix.
@@Dionysus784 Yeah, I'm not a fan of the digital look of the new show. My least favorite shot was of the volcano island. It looked like a PS4 graphic. Part of the reason the movie appears more "natural" here is that they shot all this on a real snow location and built the entire set. The only use of CGI in this part of the movie is the fire and Appa. The movie was also shot on film instead of digital; and a huge issue with shooting things on digital is that it tends to make things look too smooth or clean, which can sometimes make people's skin look like plastic and make CGI effects look worst/more noticeable.
That being said, my biggest criticism with this rough draft video of mine is the color grading. I actually screwed up the colors a bit in this one and am currently working on a fix to make it look even more natural. I am also considering doing an edit of the Netflix Airbender show if it ends up doing poorly. If I did, the first thing I would do is add film grain to make it look like it was shot on film. That would at least help make it look less fake.
Just burn what's inside the igloo. Stored food, beds, clothes, books.

The whole fan edit movie is available to watch on the channel :)
Fans sometimes ruin franchises too. This movie in itself wasn't bad. It was rushed and that is what everyone who can't objectively articulate is feeling with this. Each season of the original show was roughly 10+ hours of content. I always felt like that M Night Shyamalan and Nickelodeon cut too much content out of the story. Name pronunciations and dialog is a childish complaint but I guess most of you were children when this and the show first came out. I watched every weekly episode with my children and took them to see this when it came out. I said then that the crime wasn't the execution of the movie but in how little of the original story actually made it into the movie. Each Book or Movie should have been at least 3.5 hours if not 4 hours long. They should have included Aang meeting Bumi and even the deserted fire bending master to fully round out Book 1 as a movie. All in all its not a bad film at all and it's a shame that it was destroyed by fans to the point the other books were canceled.
I agree with you to some extent, particularly with the point that the movie should've been over 3 hours. But I would actually argue that the problem is not necessarily that a lot of the original story was left out (though I agree more should've been included), but rather there was not enough time spent fleshing out the stories that were already chosen. Because when you think about what was chosen, we got the first 3 episodes, the Earth Prison, the Blue Spirit, and the Northern Water Tribe stories chosen. Not a bad selection of episodes to weave into a single film. But in under 100 minutes? That's just not enough time to flesh them out. So, I still agree: A longer runtime would've significantly helped.
To focus on your point on adding in more stories, I would've got rid of the movie's Earth Prison part altogether and replaced it with one of the stories you suggested: meeting Bumi or the Fire Master. I suspect the reason they were ignored is Shyamalan wanted the fire training to be reserved for Book 3, and he probably wanted the trilogy to have one mighty Earth city to focus on (Ba Sing Se) instead of two. Either way, almost any other story would've been better to focus on than the abysmal mess that is the movie's Earth Prison scene. (Come on, Shyamalan: 6 Earthbenders to lift 1 rock? A prison for Earthbenders made of earth?)
Now to defend Shyamalan a little, when you dig into the production behind this film a bit more, you'll discover that the original runtime was 2.5 hours, and that Shyamalan actually had a much better version of the film that he was forced to trim down because Paramount wanted the film to be converted to 3D last minute. This sudden studio demand resulted in forced exposition-heavy reshoots such as Gram Gram's weird monologue about the Spirit World, Katara's strangely-injected narrations, Team Avatar's humor bits being cut, and even bending effects being cut out altogether. Sadly, the closest thing to this longer version we have access to is the film's novelization, which is actually worth a read.
That all said, I've actually enjoyed this movie ever since it released, and I do wish to have seen how the trilogy would've turned out. But I also side with most of the criticisms levied at it and give it a 2/10 on the rating scale. Yes, feedback from the fans and critics is part of the reason why the trilogy never finished, that and the bad box office numbers. But thank goodness the film got that kind of feedback so that way, studios like Paramount can realize that just because they make a movie based on a beloved story doesn't mean it'll just be accepted or make money. (One could even argue that the reception of this movie came back to haunt Paramount when fans expressed disdain for the Sonic movie's original hedgehog design. Safe to say that redesign saved the franchise financially.) While I respect Paramount's decision for cancelling the trilogy altogether and playing it safe financially, I would've much preferred that they either had said, "We've heard your feedback and promise to do better with the next two films" or had told Shyamalan to go back and release the original 2.5 hour cut. It could've been like the Kingdom of Heaven situation, where the director's cut fixes the movie.
As for the actual criticisms, I agree with you that "they changed the names" isn't as serious as "why is the Earth prison made of earth instead of metal." But I would like to push back on the notion that dialogue criticisms are "childish" as dialogue can greatly help establish how characters act, think, and feel; and if some people are saying it's bad or off in certain areas, it's at least worth hearing them out on how specifically it's "bad". As for what I think of the film's dialogue, it's... alright in some areas, but pretty bland for the most part. Though there are a handful of lines I like, one of my favorites being when Zhao says Zuko "is not allowed to wear the Fire Nation uniform. But we will let him wear it today, like a child wearing a costume." That's a pretty good "TAKE THAT" line.
@unicrost thank you for the objective response. Most people just hated the film and couldn't fully explain why other than name pronunciations and dialog they didn't like. Yes I also agree that the Earthbender prison scene was lazy and not well thought out. There are definitely legitimate reasons to complain about this film and you highlighted them better than anyone I have heard who complains about the film. I didn't know that there's a director's cut of this film and would love to see it if it's available to the public. I too like Zhao's jab at Zuko and is one of the better moments of dialog in the film. I also like the reverence that Iroh shows Aang when he passes the "Avatar" test on Zuko's Firenation battle ship. I have yet to see the Netflix series as the complaints from that series is getting out of hand as well. Fans cling on to their stories and are so impatient with other interpretations of them. When the hype and complaints die down then I'll probably give it a watch for myself. Thanks again for the objective response.
@ No problem. There's not an official director's cut that the public has access to, but we do know that a different version was at least filmed and cut together at some point. I actually made a video titled "CUT CONTENT" on the channel that compiles a lot of deleted clips and concepts from the original cut if you're interested.
As for the Netflix reboot, I thought it was alright. It was better executed than the film (which doesn't say much) and contained a handful of really good story changes, while also creating its own set of problems in the process. It's definitely worth a watch.
@unicrost I just may check-out the Netflix series then. I'm not nowhere near as critical as most because I don't expect it to be as good as the original show like I didn't expect this movie to be either. Just like novels are always and I mean always better than the Hollywood movies that they are based on. I just think we have become a cultural of complainers. Thanks again for the response.
WTF! This is actually not terrible. And all you had to do was remove a few bad lines and cut out unnecessary actions like a classic Wuxia film.
Thanks, Jonathan! These are actually rough drafts of what is to come! So the final full-length version will be even BETTER! Am hoping to release it in a couple months! 😎
the last airbender movie feals kinda weak
Yeah, sadly it is considered one of the worse movies ever made, which is a shame considering how good the show is. I’m doing my best to re-edit it, but there’s only so much one can do to fix up this film. I can, however, promise this edit will be much more faithful to the show, including getting the character names pronounced correctly! 🙂
Hey Unicrost! It’s me again, Nathan. You should have taken out the “wasn’t very smart, I was just upset”. That acting 😖
I tried to. Sadly, doing so only resulted in the scene being more jarring and quick. But I’ll certainly go back and see if it can be adjusted.
@@unicrost Yeah, try to adjust it
@@nathanviltus4362 to update on this, I have not been able to remove the line yet. But I have made an adjustment to this scene that improves the acting a little. I think you’ll like it. 😁
