I wish I had an ounce of that man's talent I could practise till the cows come home and still come up empty this is just perfection.
Like Jon Batiste, touched by God - God whispers joy to us through their fingers
BEAUTIFUL!!!! This is the type of song you DO NOT touch unless you can make it special. You did
You can literally see him process the sound in his head and play exactly what he heard. And this all happens within a split second. This guy "thinks" in music. The very same way we think in words.
It’s amazing... I noticed that too, God is good!
I can see his mouth forming words although it doesn't move, and I can see his head bob as if he is about to fight, sorta saying " cmon, swing"..
Believe it or not this is common of jazz musicians! At this level, it really is comparable to a language.
He's created his own aural language. Best we ordinary humans can do is to learn a bit of it, syllable by syllable. Meanwhile he's flying ahead of us....blessed.
It's amazing how good just the bass and piano sound with no other instruments.
+KuttyJoe that's the entire premise of the piano lol
m
the entire premise? lol
many pianists would disagree
KuttyJoe I was a musician for many years and did NOT appreciate those ivory keys I played...now they are POPULAR 💜
Keith Jarret has some great work with just Piano and double bass and piano. And his bizarre vocals too.
I am so happy I found out about Mr. Glasper. I play his music daily in my art classes now. Incredibly talented..I am so grateful for his gift.
This is definitely an art 🎨 good choice
Me too. 😊
Man what does your art look like girl???? Great inspiration!
I always put this on repeat when I'm studying. Got me through those rough nights of studying.
When I take my walk in the evening I listen to Robert, he takes my anxieties away.
I'm so glad this exists
Aaron Dolby wow
Such a musical Crush I'm so happy you guys exist get me through hard times Happy Valentine's Day
I AM IN LOVE with this ARRANGEMENT~! It's beautiful and perfect for a 1st wedding dance! Robert Glasper doesn't just Play Music he CREATES IT~!
Amen our Sister ❤
What a fantastic version!
The man is the best living keyboardist; no question.
Cory Henry?
huge admirer of this man have been for a while ,when you coming to scotland ,though to tell the truth struggle to find kindrid spirits here in scotland
The tone of that piano is incredible. Glasper's recordings in this studio are some of the best I have ever heard.
God Bless Steveland Morris. And these fellows are tastefully retaining the beauty of the original chords.
Yes, in deed
Yes in deed, actually my fav. Stevie wonder song adding with Too High. Two best tracks
Roy Lewis indeed, Too High's bassline is the shit, and Golden Lady is a forgotten classic...
The space between the notes, the duo format, the monochrome shot... Adds up to something that touches the soul
I love when people have mastered their craft. Boys.... beautiful playing. Class.
I could listen to this for hours
I have been doing exactly that.
Relaxing at home on a Saturday afternoon. Decided to listen to a tune that I’ve loved forever (the original version by Stevie) and then I found this version. Wow just wow is all I can say. 👏👏👏
love the fact that Glasper seems to be humming and taking his breath while he plays.. awesome!
Robert Glasper, from a fellow piano player, you are the real deal. Beautiful work! And a huge tip of the cap to Mr. Derrick Hodge. Very well done, gentlemen.
Derrick is an incredible artist in his own right.
I pressed the 'like' button before I, even heard the song, because I knew it was going to be good. lol.!
There aint even a drummer and I'm head boppin' the whole way...
This was so tremendous I started to cry at two different moments! I think Glasper might be my favorite modern keys player!
Golden Lady… the song my dad played for me when I was a little girl. It touches my soul to hear Mr. Glasper perform it!!
Hi fan.
This brings peace to my troubled mind
You have no idea how deeply that hit me right now.
I can relate to both of you.
@@SelahSelahSelah i can relate to you relating to both of them
damn, me too
Wow, as with the other replies, this too hit home with me NOW as I ride the stressful Green line through the west side of Chicago!
you can't help falling in love...this is so nice.
Carolina Martucci Totally agree, inspired me to create this soundcloud.com/dommini/shine-lady-in-gold?in=dommini/sets/old
Robert G is no joke, this is sweet and soothing! Oh yeah the bass player is on point as well!
This boy here.......(slapping my knee) he is a beast.
i ... (slapping my bum bum) agree
Underrated comment 👏!!!
Derrick is no joke on that Bass..... In the background keeping that rhythm but, as,they say, him aint no joke. I should like to follow both of these young artists
Robert and Derek killed this one. Awsome job!
Damn, I love RG's skills. Watching him play each track as if he's creating it on the fly. But with such prowess on the keys. A true joy each time I experience his music. Peace...
If you pay really care you can hear Robert humming the melody
the sounds of two very accomplished musicians.
I love Rob's solo...the beginning is so tastefully melodic...that's some soul food right there, y'all!!!
You can take any Stevie song and dwallah! Simple melodies with open space and let the genius of the musician interpret what they feel. and these two don't skimp on imagination. Beautiful interpretation.
Totally agree with you... except the melodies aren't simple, they just sound like it... I think that's a big part of his genius, and yes I believe Stevie Wonder is a musical GENIUS. The harmonies and melodies are astonishing, unexpected... magical. I listen to "Golden Lady" today, probably 40 years after I first heard it, and it's still a revelation.
+PabluchoViision Absolutely. I played this repeatedly upon my belly during my pregnancy. I wanted a "golden baby"😁
Stevie listens to God. And I got my Golden baby.
Well said.
No, his melodies aren't simple. Maybe it's just me or you were a child prodigy as well. A chord for each note, so many 13th's and heck i think a couple of 16th's. lol. That is Stevie's magic his songs sound so smooth but once you look at the sheet music, WHOOOAAA! Heck, it took me a while to play if you really love me. be blessed
@@PabluchoViision ON POINT U R. HE MAYBE BE OUR LAST MUSICAL GENIUS.
I am so happy I was able to see Robert Glasper at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY two years ago. What an amazing performance. 😙
I am jealous
I Know Mr Wonder is actually absolutely proud . Mr Glasper needed this. Much Love.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Heard a piece the brother played from "The Photograph" and ...the jazz is, I just cant describe the words ....and im old school, (Miles, Coltran etc) I love this rit here.....Young bloods doing black music much justice.
Such genius effortlessness...playing that piano like he's chillin at the park...Love BOTH Black Radio projects can't stop playing Black Radio 2. OMG. amazing.
Golden Hands
Love it, listening to you play reminds of the musicians in my family. My grandmother was an outstanding classical pianist and now my mother has taken her place in church and in our families band. As a singer, I feel very inspired by all that you do. Keep up the Excellent work.
18 dislikes!? Come on, people this is Jazz at it's finest coming from two greats!
Many people can't appreciate on this level.
I love how they switch between lead roles from keys to bass and then back. Musicians will understand.
Beautiful interpretation of the Stevie Wonder hit.
calm down
I've loved Stevie's forever... This is just fabulous 💋😎✌️
I woke up from having nightmares and put his on :) sigh of relief.
Thus, why we do it
The nightmare is that we don't have enough good stuff like this.
That Cuber Lady YYAASSS 💜
I used to sing this when I was fourteen a girl down the street had the prettiest golden hair and she was my first love.......
AMAZING... A NEW LEGEND.
It was nice meeting you when you played in Bilal's band. Keep up the great work, Robert.
JAZZMAN !!!
What a recording! Glorious playing
I need Sirius XM to grace us with a Robert Glasper Channel. He is excellence!
i am IN LOVE with these peoples comments..... makes me feel so close to yus all
+Jo Cera haha i was just thinking the same !
Beautiful! What else can I say? Stevie is a national treasure for sure.
Just what my ears and brain needed. Thank you Robert and Derek! :-)
Robert Glasper is just pure class, Stevie Wonder would be proud of this arrangement.
What a Gem
How did I miss this!!! Beautiful Stevie Wonder tribute 🤔 and this is one of my favorites!!! Now I have a reference on how to solo over the changes!!! #GoldenLady 🔥🔥🔥
Can you call a song a luxurious song? because this embodies it honestly
when he's soloing he breathes as if he's singing it, amazing
Love this guy's playing.
Instant fan...took me right away!
Awesome. Its a shame the bass was so low in the mix, especially during the solo I was guessing rather than hearing. Never the less superb musicianship all round. More please.
WOW...Where is the "LOVE" button when I need it?? THANKS for sharing....SOO NICE!!
I looooove this song, cant believe he covered it!
I agree... even if Jazz isn't your thing, no reason to dislike this. None.
This guy gets it right every single time! Super talent brother! Thank you for your contribution to REAL AUTHENTIC Art/Music!
Robert glasper, this is beautiful bro. perfect voicing n all.
A touch of rain and sunshine made the flower grow into a lovely smile that's blooming...
4:47 to 5:00 takes my ears to heaven
00:00 to 07:12 takes my ears to heaven
My ears went to heaven AND they are still on my head because heaven lies within.
"Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:21
My favorite Stevie Wonder song of all time. I was blown away when Stanley Jordan used it to demonstrate how to compose a memorable song beginning. The bass player here is terrific! Wish more folks knew it. Thanks for covering it.
Mr. Glasper...you are complete MAGIC on the Piano!! @ Also great job on the Bass Sir!!
Glasper is a WIZARD.
Yes thats a really nice version and yes it would be nice to hear music like this again so yes put it down on the next CD of yours it's a job welled done Mr. Glasper GOD Bless

My man dropping the bass all over the place! Well done....🎼
What a sweet surprise... I just stumbled upon this wonderful gem! Thank you :)
I found the perfect song to introduce someone to Jazz. It has all the good stuff but is also quite accessible.
Smooth like butter, tasteful as fine wine 🍷. That's Mr Glasper music 🎶
Again, great to hear real music from real talented people. Great work guys. Love it.

Sometimes when men speak with the right notes about the essential, it's just like Dreams coming true.
🌺🌺🌺
So much space and spirituality So much music So cool
How could someone dislike such mind therapy as this?
I could listen to him all day long...

Ahhhh, esos días en que las fuerzas del espíritu se anudan y enfilan en un mismo rumbo. En días así, Wonder, Glasper y Hodge nos proveen de siete minutos de felicidad.
Nobody reharmonizes like him. He's such a fucking genius.
Jaw-dropping good stuff. What does reharmonize mean?
Like fredmelodies says
Improv is the best
what am I listening to? pure genius, Stevie is my idol, but this man knows how to make music, any music, so calm, comforting enriching, man I am so in awe of this all...
Great elegance and fine melodie, thanks Robert!
robert glasper, y'all. man, this brother is something else.
One of my favorite Stevie Wonder compositions played masterfully.
