Super smooth, rhythmic and joyful! Headphones in flying over the Colorado Rockies right now! Sun beaming down illuminating snow covered mountains! Tears in my eyes. I stand amazed! GOD IS AWESOME!
I recently rediscovered Joni Mitchell’s music after a few decades and I’ve been binge listening to all my old favorites. You Tube brought this version up as a suggestion and now I am in sheer heaven listening to this.
His music is profound💛! It’s the sun setting over a mountain, rising over the sea, the moment 2 people see each other for the first time and feel that seed of love planted all the way down in the pit of their soul start to bloom, and hope for the dreamer that our time to stop dreaming and start believing begins NOW! Thank you sir for your art, your passion, and your obedience growing up learning the skills that were already rooted in you through God✨✨✨
This is my "Flight" song. After 50+ years of being too afraid to fly, I finally took my first flight and this was the first song that I played from my playlist. I have traveled across the country many times since then, and this, Sir, is still my first flight song whenever I'm soaring amidst the clouds. Thank you for this revelation Mr. Glasper.💜
My absolute favorite track on this album. Must have listened to this like a about a thousand times so far. Only idiots who don't know good music gave this a thumbs down. Again, drummer totally killing it.
Came because I love Joni’s song, stayed because it was so beautifully performed here. “The guy at the gas pumps, he’s got a lot of soul, he sings ‘Merry Christmas’ for you, just like Nat King Cole”
This is a beautiful instrumental jazz variation on Joni's lovely ballad . It nurtures the song's strong feeling of yearning and desire. The piano melody catches the mood and the group plays beautifully together throughout. In Joni's original, she has the talent to match wonderful words to her melodies from her keen observations. Here she takes her insight into a familiar barangrill like one that most of us have visited, but she sees things most of us overlook. To write lyrics and melody that mesh so well together is an amazing gift that is not handed out very often. I hear those words sometimes when I listen to this, but this version has strength and stands completely on its own.
What a gift these cats have with such mature yet silky "outside of the hexahedron" ministrations to the known and unknown pieces they perform that are State-Of-The -Art Kool!!!
This song just is so so so warming to my heart It calms me it puts me in the right frame of mind no matter what is going on at present time love love this composition by him.
Sadly when many of the great musicians of the Sixties disappear...the truly fine music will be gone...we will have to settle for what passes for music today...
Excellent take on the song! I wish he filled in the major a little more often instead of leaving it suspended quite so much. Also love the bluesy not at the top of the great chord progression, but he could play with it even more than just hitting it that one time each repeat.
Super smooth, rhythmic and joyful! Headphones in flying over the Colorado Rockies right now! Sun beaming down illuminating snow covered mountains! Tears in my eyes. I stand amazed! GOD IS AWESOME!
That was an amazing visual
Thank you all for the peace.
Amen 🙏 😊
Amazing view and perspective for sure!!!
You brought me there for a minute…this music is so congruent with that! Thanks for that thought.
Robert Glasper has breathed new life into the classic piano trio. Incredible music.
Teddy Wilson would approve of this. I'm sure Joni does.
Honestly, I am so tired and empty now, but your music helps to make my day better. Thank you, guys

Greatly in need of another pure jazz album from this gentleman.........
I had no idea that this was a cover of the original "Barangrill" by Joni Mitchell. A stunningly beautiful interpretation.
Totally agree, he breathes new life to a rendition & I wonder how he chooses what to interpret
❤😊

It's Friday night in New Orleans. Each rain drop, a shot sized shower as we crawled every bar and grill.

Goodness gracious! How beautiful can ONE song BE?!
Dave Grusin touch....Stolen Moments comes to mind, but without strings and sax. Great nuances around a theme. Thank you.
She does love it...she is still alive folks !!...from the For The Rose's album
Heard this today for the first time while listening to Jazz24. This is exceptional, beautifully done. Thank you for posting this musical treasure.

Ya'll just make my day better. Thank you for sharing your gifts 💆🏽♀️💖
One of the most dope things I've ever heard and seen. Listen and watch this video often.
This is by far the best Joni cover I have ever heard.
Love it!! And that focus pull on the cymbals at 3:10 is as smooth as the music!
My absolute favorite track on this album. Must have listened to this like a about a thousand times so far. Only idiots who don't know good music gave this a thumbs down. Again, drummer totally killing it.
Which album is this on?
Wayne Waltower its called “covered”
Whoever gave this a “thumbs down” has no soul. He can’t feel. He must be dead. He is to be pitied rather than condemned.
This is amazing
@JPW1213 -Preach on, preach on.😊
Wow I'm floored that I've found this. Love me some Glasper, and I had no idea he liked obscure Joni songs like I do. Bravo sir.
So smooth. I love it. Can't get enough. I should be so blessed one day to work with RG.
Hi fan.
One of Joni's finest..I think like us she'd love this..Mr glasper nails it good
Joni Mitchell would be loving this. One of her great songs expertly and beautifully expressed.
Joni Mitchell Never Lied... (Smile)
This is one of my favorites! Smooth, deep, raw! Another cold one by ya boy and his crew. And the breakdowns, DAMN! This is I'll!
RG knows Joni kills. Did Joni know she would be so greatly interpreted by so many jazz greats?
Keith Jarrett covered her in 1971, so jazzers were taking note of her work quite early.
@kenya 3613 Wayne Shorter played with her too. Jazz musicians’ love for Joni is a poorly held secret, LOL!
All of his tunes I heard so far had such a smooth vibe. Fantastic musician. 🙌
Every time I listen to this, it feels like I’m hearing it for the very first time. I’m always in aww 🥰
Marvelous. Never heard this beauty covered before!
It's the simplest things in life for me...❤️ Bar and Grill.🤜🏽🤛🏽
Came because I love Joni’s song, stayed because it was so beautifully performed here.

Desperately need Robert to release an album with "Barangrill" (this song) and Golden Lady. Please!!!!!!
I don't know if this is what you mean, but Barangrill is released on his new album "Covered"; (it's a Joni Mitchell cover)
Oh yet but it missed golden lady

Think Joni might like this cover... The jazz world was taking note of her as early as '71, when Jarrett did some covers from Blue.
Sadly when many of the great musicians of the Sixties disappear...the truly fine music will be gone...we will have to settle for what passes for music today...
@@sohooded lol okay dweeb
Maravilhoso! não canso de ouvir seu trabalho. Parabéns a você e aos demais músicos
I can hear him hum the song as he plays! Anyone else?
Saw them in DC in May. Show was pretty good. Wish they had done this jam... Tribute to Prince was too much...
I swear, his music really puts me in a good mood, especially this one. 4:06 is my favorite part of this rendition
