This is the golden age of Arcade games, 16bit love. Graphics, music, gameplay and the iconic Font which I'm also very happy that Nintendo used it on the nes as well! Taito is my favorite arcade games developer for the nostalgia value - they did Elevator Action, Bubble Bobble, Crime City, Cadash etc... Of course I realize that Konami and Capcom are King!
I remember spending $20 dollars in quarters trying to beat this game with my brother back in 1998 when arcades were still around at certain golf course places. We never beat the game and I totally forgot the name of this arcade and I'm happy I've found it and just watching this whole video brings back memories with my brother
Holy shit... I have a memory playing this at the charlestowne mall, st charles, il when it first opened when I was like 7 or 8 and have been wondering for like 25 years what was the name of this game... I have finally found you !!!!!!
2 yr old comment, but i had a similar experience with golden axe. Our dentist we went to as kids had an arcade and it was in the mature section which was behind a curtain. Id peek through the curtain and watch my brother play it. One day my mom let me play it with him and man... we were hooked! Never knew what it was until like 10 yrs later when those plug and play consoles came out that were genesis controllers you plug into your tv. Always great when you accidentally find your fondest memories!
I used to see this game in my uncle's arcade. I always remembered the Black Pudding monster, and how no one could never could beat it! I just now learned the name when I was scrolling through my emulator and found it.
The Tilt arcade at Northwest Plaza back in St. Louis had a four-player Cadash game back in the early 90's. I never could scare up three other players, despite my best gab and shoulder-rubbing. The Priest (priestess?) was my character of choice. That morningstar flail of hers had a good reach, and just when you think she's almost dead...*ZING*...she's okay again. The Fighter was fun too (and that sword with an axe bit for its quillons rocked), but I never really got into the Ninja or the Mage.
OH SHIT! God, after years of searching for that one game I played at Circus Circus back in the early 90s, I finally get the name of the game I've been looking for!
I know that the original [cabinet] game supports 4 player multiplay. They used to link two cabinets together to all four players to play; (visible on both machines).
I finally realize why Zelda 2 reminded me to something, it was this game LMAO Gonna try it again 20 years after playing it, thought I never finished it
This game is unique in that I am pretty sure that this is the only 4 player 'side scroller/platform' perspective arcade game ever created. Most other 4 player games have the overhead (Gauntlet) or 3/4 (Crime Fighter) view.
Cadash is the long lost brother of Demon/ Dark Souls. I have fond memories of this. It kicked my ass back in the day in ways you can not even imagine. I got black listed in several arcade spots because i was prone to abuse the machines.
That is okay, as child support will be a thing that the authorities will be harassing him about until his child has grown, and then comes the daddy issues and shitty upbringing with an abusive stepfather, and, especially if the child is a girl, a life long hatred of all men and also a bend towards being a lesbian.
LOL @: "The continents are bound together through our" beliefs Rhythm Nation, I mean... "GRAB THIER MONEY!!" THE LMFAOOO: "After giving you SPECIFIC directions from the secret hideout, & where exactly to find the worm monster, and where this happens, and "YOU BETTER NOT GO NEAR THAT PLACE!!!!!"
A bit of a necro but it's obviously 2024 now and Cadash is available on Switch and Playstation digital storefronts on the "Arcade Archives" series. (It came out about 6~8 months ago, it's easy to miss because these games get no press)
I played a lot the genesis version. Man this game took me mad till I finish. There are so many difficult parts, and you cannot save the state. I miss my genesis (here in Brazil it was called mega drive).
Im not so sure i follow the graphical changes made on the turbo version. Like, that cave level is literally just black and has floating candles for example. Sure, the turbo is weaker than an arcade cabinet but how the hell would that affect the background layer?
@indycell It's just Engrish, the Japanese use a sound that is neither the English L or R but somewhere in between. The villain's name is a reference to the Balrog, from the Lord of the Rings. In any event, Baal is just a Semitic title meaning 'master.' It was used informally to refer to a variety of Semitic gods, and only got the demonic connotation much later. Even in Christian demonology, Baal is not Satan, but one of his servants. ~The more you know...
Why not just put a bunch of credits in so you never had to worry about the timer? Doesn't it add like 10 minutes per credit or whatever the dip switches are set for? Either that or use a cheat to lock the timer at some amount.
My favorite arcade game as a kid. The Genesis version was close but only 2 of the characters made it in the game. This is why the TG 16 version is superior
has anyone paid attention to the message when the bad guy appears? it says "Baalogue has appeared" instead of "baarogue" as said before by the princess and if u dont know "baal" is the devil, satan games anyway, we should pay attention to what we let our children play, dont we?
The arcade version is so much better, You only have access to the Fighter and Wizard in the Genesis version (both of which are pretty bad) And you die so fast due to just how close you have to be to damage most anything. (wizards magic excluded, but you'd run out of MP alot) Also? Only three continues. then you're done. I guess if the Genesis version has one thing, it's that it lacked a time limit. (I assume it was only there in the first place just because the arcade wanted you to feed more quarters into it)
one thing about the lack of a time limit though was that it allowed you to reach max level which was 20. I found out that reaching the maximum value for experience which is something like 99,999 you don't level up (even though it says to lvl up to 21 you need 99,999)
No. The arcade had time limits because it's "illegal" to let a player sit around and stall. It's also why other arcade games implemented gimmicks to force you onwards.

Best ending line ever...

For the rest of my life, I will wonder what "The important thing" is.
That important thing was you putting in quarters and playing the game.
Thanks for that important thing
it have a wrong translation, right translation should be: "there is an important thing" (the end credits imho)
All I can say is: Wow! Translation issues aside, this is an impressive Metroidvania side scroller, and to think it was an arcade game.
Pretty good little RPG!
Yeah but that back tracking had me as a kid figuring wtf do I have to go??
And stepping through the invisible walls

How good is the music in this game! Same with Rastan. Taito!
Lol You have to love these old games, back in the day when no one cared enough to do a proper translation.
I agree. I wish they were still that way nowadays, but it is against the "law of video game making".
@@jeremym9011 , go fuck yourself with your less than worthless opinion!
he trows ninja stars everytime he talks to somebody; that's what i call a dangerous ninja!

Awesome gameply mate - you are a machine!!
I know that the original [cabinet] game supports 4 player multiplay. They used to link two cabinets together to all four players to play; (visible on both machines).
The last line should have been "Thank you for everything".
The bad translation makes it great though 😄

You are now in the town of Marinade
Thank you for sharing this longplay! I really enjoy the it! It reminds me Sega Genesis "Jewel Master", especially the last stage.
44:27 is the hardest part of the game XD
It seriously is, I'm trying to beat it with the ninja and it feels like Ninja Gaiden with the the instant spawning and getting hit 10 feet backwards.
FUCK. THIS. PART. Seriously, I take quit this part. Ninja does so little damage, the knock back and respawn time can go to HELL!!!!
Cadash is the long lost brother of Demon/ Dark Souls. I have fond memories of this. It kicked my ass back in the day in ways you can not even imagine. I got black listed in several arcade spots because i was prone to abuse the machines.
Not even close spockmcqueen Simpson's arcade game, Xmen Arcade, TMNT Arcade, Cap. America and the Avengers arcade.....the list goes on
Did the "important thing" and split! What a jerk!
XD

@@paxhumana2015 ok
I've only played the TurboGrafx port of this game. It's pretty fun.
I used to play this game at pizza hut in the early 90s 😌
Same here!
JuicyPlayer That’s awesome 😎. I miss those days. I remember playing arcade games in liquor stores too like final fight and golden axe. I’m 36 now
Immune To Loneliness I used to play a lot of arcade games at 7-11 and Circle K back in the day also! Good times!
Probably Dark Seal. I was thinking this game was awfully similar in some days.
They should remake this game to the New generation, It would bê amazing.
Great skill with the Ninja & a proper play through, not some half-assed speedrun.
Well these are long plays.
good old days ... :D
played this game when i was a kid ...
and can finish all of the 4 characters solo ...
Oh so the arcade version had a timer. Makes sense because otherwise you could sit on this all day killing the easy enemies.
oh, ive never seen this game, strange how i missed it while growing up.
"how well you came"...o_O
Funny this comes out. I was looking at TASes of it recently.
HI, X! Thank you for the important thing...!
...
ENGRISH!
I had the Sega Genesis version
I love the engrish in this. Seems like a pretty fun game.
Hi, X! Thank you for the important thing! *freezeframe*
Engrish? Lol! I guess mistakes happen!
I knew Schilauchi was the one even before clicking in the vid XD GG
He's a TAS cheater, idiot.
Wow the Genesis port is exactly the same (without the priest and the ninja) in graphics, FX and music.
"There are nice springs up flont" LOL!

Where did you play it then?
ITS DIFICULTY FOR ME PRICIPALY THE ESCHELETRON PASSAGE.
It's 2020. How can I legally play Cadash?

It's coming to the switch. 🤔, I don't know what to think.

Can you play this version of this game, online anywhere?
Yes.
Baalrogue always reminded me of The BatMan! ^_^
Is it me, or does the Ninja remind me of Carlos Miyamoto from Final Fight 2?
awesome , congrats dude !
What a hilariously badly translated final line to go out on.
PROPER GAMEPLAY!!!
30:17 New way learned. Thanks. I hope to share one I know
Where us the magic lamp u speak of?
Thank u.

Lmao. This game's translation. It's Taito tradition.

great game, despite the nintendo english
the greater part of the weapons and armor in the final is to the fighter...
maybe because him takes more damage...
Your English is worse than the English that is in this game.
