I'm 46, I was very young when Frank Bruno was in his prime. He was my hero then and more so now having learned about his career and life. I feel genuine love for this man. Daley Thompson is a close second.
I was the same and remember going holy shit he’s got past rnd1 with Tyson. That’s when Tyson was an absolute beast in the ring and our lad done us so proud 🇬🇧
Same.. back in the days when people were just seen as British. These days the media would obsess over his ethnicity and family origins. Oh to go back to the days when people where just appreciated for who they were as an individual
People Forget becoming WBC Champion during that era was something Special the Division was stacked with the Likes of Tyson, Razor Ruddock, Bowe, Alex Stewart, Tony Tucker, Moorer, Lewis, Holyfield, Foreman, Morrison, Golota, McCall, Mercer, Morrison, briggs, Ike Ibeabuchi etc... and Bruno Himself who is incredibly underrated because of imo his personality.
I love Frank, he's an inspirational figure. he got to the top through pure grit, hard work & determination. He's underrated, to become world champion in that era was impressive & he only lost to the top fighters. It's great to see him well.
Always a hero to me. He used to train in our gym in Gants Hill. Always approachable, always good fun. He jumped in on a set with us once and was just the most down-to-earth person you could imagine. Met him a couple of times after he retired. Still the same old Bruno. Always wish him the best...
They both would of beaten him. Who's ''Prime Mikes'' best win?? He got dominated and knocked out in his prime by c-level buster douglas. Prime Mike, 23 years old, undefeated, pre-prison got battered and kod by BUSTER DOUGLAS, let that sink in before saying he woulda destroyed actual elite fighters like lewis and holyfeild. both levels above anyone mike fought.
@@joejoyce9979 nobody could beat Mike before he was champ like you could’ve put anybody as champion and nobody wouldve stopped him becoming youngest champ ever
I disagree. Lewis, probably. Holyfueld, definitely not. Holyfield was another level above Tyson imo. That man has had some HARD fights and typically came out on top. Tyson fought very few top top fighters when he was in his prime. Don't get me wrong, though, he is a phenomenal fighter. The fact is, he fought tin cans in the early part of his career.
this Bruno is a different bloke than the one I’ve seen on tv shows decades ago. He seems sharp & like a street type fella than the big clown he seemed to be playing when confronted with show hosts in suits. Many folk would be sarcastic about the guy but as others point out , he faced Mike T at his most terrifying best & gave him a challenge too.
I've never told anyone this story before, as I'm not the boastful type. But I fought Tyson one night in London during the 80's. He quickly unleashed this combination that left me on the floor. He was powerful and very intimidating. But I didn't give up and we started again, except this time I figured out his timing and made him miss with the uppercut then countered with a combination that knocked him out. Unfortunately after that I had to switch my Nintendo off as dinner was ready. But that Punch-out game was excellent.
I was an amateur boxer. I was devoted to boxing and dtudying the great artistry of pugulism. I had one poster of Big Frank in pride of place in my room. Even my own mother, who knew nothing about boxing, thought Frank was the best. I still love you, Frank, God bless you.
Love Frank! Special place my heart, always. I was a very young man when he fought Tyson, but I woke in the night specially to listen to that fight. 'Get stuck in Frank!'. And he still does, at everything he's done since! :)
A great sportsman is our frank, Love the guy , can't watch the Tyson fight. Young lads in Brixton nowadays should learn from how he carries himself. Was surprised how big his stature is in the flesh, i was starstruck and stuttered "how you doin frank?" he said "Not as good as you son.!" which was ironic because i was a hungover mess in the middle of bovy market.
I saw a documentary (a terrible one) about Frank, Nigel and Chris; at the end of it they said Frank was experiencing 'cognitive decline.' NOT A BIT OF IT. He's sharp, funny and still 'our Frank' all the way.
Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early. I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now l'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling.,,
I'm glad you made this video, I can recall when I was homeless and faced with many things in Life until $75,000 biweekly began rolling in and my Life went from A homeless nobody to a different person with good things to offer!!!!!!❤️
Frank could have beaten Tyson if he resorted to counter-punching, as opposed to going toe to toe. Tyson’s peek a boo style made him so damn hard to hit… that’s why better keeping out of range and catching him with counter uppercuts and hooks. He definitely had the power. Regardless of which, Frank had a great career, and will always be a people’s champion.
Everyone in my household growing up loved Bruno and still to this day. I remember reading when I was a kid he took a fight for the money to pay for his grandma’s eye sight and I just thought as a kid What a legend.
I remember being about 17, listening to Bruno vs McColl on the radio in my bedroom in the back of beyond, Scottish village. I was so happy for Frank when he won!
Sir Frank. Sir…. You will always be one of the greatest to walk this earth. Good to see you well sir. James your also true gent. Ibrahim from Edinburgh 🔋📈
It looks like Big Frank left boxing with his faculties intact - and that's great. Considering some of the men he shared a ring with, he seems to be in a very good place.
I don’t know anybody that’s dosent love big frank I grew up in the 80s and without franks input with the other things he did . He introduced me to boxing 🥊 and iam still a fan of it so thank you frank . Pass the sauce harry 😅classic
Aha, I remember when I was about 5 or 6... Met Frank outside of a pub in Leicester, near to Fosse Park, that was then called The Foxhunter! Got his autograph! 😊 That was in 1994-5. Great sense of humour, I remember us laughing about something or other! Was a happy kid to have met him! 💪🫶🤘
charity event i asked Bruno direct was Tyson the hardest puncher he fought and he said his punches beaten was worse than his dad's was lol he respects tysons power
Frank was too heavy in the 2nd fight against Tyson . MTs legs were gone post prison. but Bruno was carrying way too much weight . Which played into tysons hands . Tyson Still had fast hands and that was the clincher.
That is crazy…so when he fought mcall he had to fight Tyson as part of the deal…that’s messed up,it’s no wonder why he looked nervous the second fight cos in the first Bruno was not at scared of Tyson but the sec fight he looked like he didn’t want to be,no he saying he just won the belt and next he has to fight Tyson 😂
Glad Frank finally won a world title, he just used to gas and then get caught and once caught he never recovered, all big hitters who beat him tho. Long Live Big Frank, ya know what i mean Harry
Whats funny is I distinctly remember getting the game Defender of the Crown my first video game on Amiga right when Mike defended against Frank hahaha Where you gotta unite Britain

Mr Bruno will ALWAYS be the PEOPLE'S CHAMPION 💪🇬🇧
But he was a friend of Jimmy Saville ...very strange
Well said man.
He was a hugger, doing punching and holding all the time, a very dirty fighter.
@@heerkojohanneskooistra6708 Oh come on man.... People have family they don't know are weirdos.
He is so much bigger and taller than Tyson but was shit scared of him,he was beaten before they even began fighting!

Looking damned good for 63
Bruno would need 8 hellium balloons to sound like Barry White
😂😂😂
😂 It was never that deep before, was it? It seems deeper than ever.
@JackRascal when people get older the voice goes.
I wanna listen to that voice when i go to sleep , it seems very soothing.
Lol facts
Thank you, finally someone has finally told the truth about Mike tyson. Lewis and hollyfield would have got destroyed by tyson in his prime.
100 champ
Ya they caught him at a bad time in his life. The guy was unbeatable when all he did was box. Like before he was champion.

Same way the likes of Joey Essex and Paris Hilton play dumb why banking a lot of money.
This man fought tyson and got named in a tupac song. Crazy. Respect. Song is road to glory
Wbc champion would be the pinnacle of that career

I haven't seen Frank for quite some time - what a nice thing to see him looking so well, in great shape and happy. Lovely guy. A true gent.
Frank Bruno has always been an inspiration. I only boxed as an amateur and it is a hard game. I have nothing but respect for you Sir!❤️
I was about 13 when big Frank started appearing on Tv with Harry Carpenter commentating. Amazing times! So pleased to see Frank doing well.
Loved the Tyson vs Bruno fights, always exciting

It's Angela Phyllis Martin doing she changed my life. A BROKER- like her is what you need.

😱Sounds familiar, I have heard her name on several occasions.. and both her success stories in the wall Street journal
Love frank .. absolute legend ❤️
I love Bruno’s laugh it’s so infectious
The whole of Britain love Frank Bruno
Frank deserves all the love. Top bloke, bloody good fighter.
I watched every one of Brunos fights and watched him win the WBC vs McCall live. What a night. Incredible. I was ecstatic for him.
Me too I saw him get knocked out & people saying his finished I argued for a long time in his defence & Frank proves me right & ultimately himself
I have always loved anything Frank Bruno was involved in when growing up, I see him as am ambassador to England, always will regard him as a gentleman
Got to love Frank Bruno always!
The UK loved Frank Bruno, good to see him looking so well

FRANK BRUNO = 'LEGEND'
I don't know why some people knock Frank for doing advertisements. He found a lucrative way to make money without getting into a ring, very savvy.
What a man .great memories
Big Frank has had hard fights and hard times in his life but came through it all. Good on ya big lad.

Long live Frank Bruno. ❤❤
He rocked tyson with that double left hook but never followed up.
Frank was our champ before he became champ! Didn’t matter To us if he win it or not! Frank needed to win that belt for his own peace!
Only man I’m scared of when they talk hahaha sounds scary as fuck but a true gentleman

Seems like he's happy and healthy. Good on ya.

Gazza and Bruno? James - you are the new Wogan
God I'll never forget watching him win his belt. I was literally pulling my hair out the last few rounds.
Our Frank❤
He’s still thinking about that knockout in round 3 1996 from Tyson. Impressive that he made it 3 rounds.
He made it to 5 when he fought Tyson in 89
Bruno is cool
