I LOVE the way it looks .
The sound is crisp clear and balanced .
The sound stage is big from side to side with good separation , however it does it have a lot of depth and crescendos/loud -ish points in the music remains controlled as opposed to my old vincent 237 MK 2 which would explode in isolation of the whole with the instruments that were responsible for that loudness .

Hi Siri, yes, Marantz really got it right with the looks on this series. This Model 30 has a really nice soundstage presentation as you say - and more headroom than you expect, with very good dynamic control.

Hi Luke, Great review. I would to pair this amp with a set of B & W 603 s3 speakers. Will this work?

      @GramophoneMD  19 днів тому

Hello Wesley, thank you for your kind words, and yes, it will power a set of 603 S3 quite nicely. Those are 8 ohm nominal impedance and 90 dB efficiency, so this will be a fine match. BTW we love the look of this amp as well as the sound 🙂

Thank you for another excellent informative review. I have the 30n, i want this amp to go with it. Which Sonus Fabre speakers would you match with this amp. Thanks,

Does this amp offer better sound than the Cinema 40? I'm headed back to 2 channel. Thanks.

Hi Jeff, Model 30 sounds excellent on two channel. It's a little hard to compare to Cinema 40, as that also sounds great, but can do multichannel - so a bit of apples to oranges comparison. There are lots of Model 30 fans in our group

Really wonderful presentation. Can you give me some advice, I'm not sure whether to buy this Yamaha AS1200 amplifier or the Marantz 30 amplifier. The price in Serbia is similar. It seems to me that the Yamaha has a more powerful transformer and many more components inside, while the Marantz is stronger for 10 Watts. Your advice would be very useful to me, greetings.

I'm a little partial to the sound of the Marantz as I like it's midrange a bit more. However if you like a more "exciting" sound meaning a bit of bump in bass and in treble then perhaps choose the Yamaha.

Would the Model 30 pair well with Lumina IIIs? Thanks

WHERE DO I CONNECT THE SUBWOOFER???

You have mentioned the toroidal transformer, but did not say this is a class D amplifier, which I guess is more important. I don't want to say this is bad, but this is completely different.

The power amps are Hypex NC500s with Marantz HDAMs in front of them for acoustic tuning. Sounds fantastic especially with the right speaker pairings. Hypex class D is now easily competitive with virtually any class A/B amp in similar price ranges. I wouldn't have guessed the Model 30 is class D based on the usual stereotypes, if I first heard it while blindfolded.

@@GramophoneMD Hello, would you be able to specify your ideas on pertinent speaker association? I haven't heard this amp yet and am not sure if the Hypex modules have changed the typical Marantz "warmth" even if they have integrated HDAM as well. Speaker choice/association is if course incredibly important to get right...Thanks for your input.

@@mayaparis6192 I find it a bit forward so I paired up with Elac UF5 speakers which are a bit rolled off. The result (after Dirac room correction) is warm
      eutral - beautiful. :)

6:27 minutes into this video and I am not convinced you listened to this unit 👎

It has strong bass control, a relatively sweet midrange and a bit of bump upward in higher mids. Treble is detailed and fun but not fatiguing. Basically I agree almost completely with Zero Fidelity's impression of it so have a look at his video too, and it really shines when paired with the matching SACD30N. I listen to this thing almost everyday.
