    For over 40 years, I have worked in facilities without windows. It's make flashlights a standard item to carry and I carry 2 on my person. With the current offerings , I carry one pen sized and one keychain sized AAA battery powered flashlight. Larger flashlights are for the house or backback. I have tactical flashlights, but I rarely carry them. I also have powerful flashlights for illumination of the yard, but they rarely get used.

    I’ve been using the wedge daily as an electrician for about 5 months. This thing has made my life so easy sometimes, That much light in my pocket saves me a lot of trips to the van. The switch is fun to flick too lol. USB C facing up in the pocket catches a lot of gunk, but nothing a toothpick can’t fix. Maybe a 2.0 will get some kind of rubber cap. All in all, big fan, would buy another.

    I use mine every single day at work. Runs for hours, it's a bit big for "mouth holders" like me but I've gotten used to it. It's incredibly bright, held on the high power setting it can and will put a char mark in cardboard/plastic if held directly against it for an extended period of timed. I've dropped it, thrown it, drowned it in coolant, covered it in oil, and abused the crap out of it since I got it. Fantastic light all around imho.

    • @hijaf

      As someone who constantly drops my light and covers it in coolant and oil this comment sold me on it

    • @THEGHOSTSLAVE
      @THEGHOSTSLAVE 11 місяців тому +1

      @@hijaf After running my original one and beating the crap out of it for nearly two years, the battery is getting a tad bit on the weak side and I've had a screw fall out effectively ruining its water tight seal but it does still work well enough. The pocket clip also loosened and fell off on its own at some point. Maybe remove all of the screws and apply some loctite. I did end up buying another one, but it's for house duty not work. There's also a new smaller version of this light that came out recently. I'll probably move on from the wedge at some point in the near future, but with my track record of destroying flashlights I'm still quite impressed with just how well it has held up.

    Like others, I picked one up a few months ago and it's now my primary EDC light off duty or at work (LEO). I also have others but this is plenty, and carries SO MUCH better than the Olights or Fenix's that I carried in the same method. I forget its there! Love it and will probably pick another up eventually.

    Way back in the day, Nutnfancy said that x2 aaa flashlights were the best form factor for edc - both for ergonomics and not monopolizing pocket space. I’d say this design further improves on those elements.

      I carry a Surefire E1B Backup for EDC and it’s a great light but the round shape does make it a little bit fat in some pockets. It’s short though being a single-cell light. I love the fact that it has a 5 lumen setting which is really beneficial for limiting battery consumption, and is usually sufficient for my needs but you have 400 lumens available if you need it.

      No need for more light. It has plenty of light. It's just people that are obsessed with UA-cam testing videos that care about that. The same people that but Milwaukee "because it's the most powerful," and disregard all other performance metrics, like durability, are the ones that care about blinding brightness. More bright=less runtime. Like Tesla, where all anyone talks about is the acceleration, but disregards that the entirety of the rest of the car is trash.

Like all Streamlights, when I purchased it seemed a little expensive but I chose it for reliability and quality. It delivers both with the important additional feature of excellent carry profile. Flat shape, good clip and a smooth tapered bezel all help it disappear in my pocket. What a great light!

    I have carried Streamlight exclusively for the last 20 years and have used them almost daily. They are extremely reliable. All their products are guaranteed forever. Fortunately I live near the factory and can walk in there with any problems. They will fix or replace anything wrong with it for free. They won’t fix batteries or bulbs though but they will fix or replace everything else. I own one of these and several other models. One thing about rechargeable lights is when they go out they give no warning so that is something to consider.

    I bought this, in black, last year and it is great for all the reasons you mentioned. Plus: (1) it has flat sides and it won't roll away on you as you're working on something; (2) hobos and street zombies assume it is a knife or other weapon if you clip it visibly on your person (minimal deterrence is what I need for walking to my car at night); (3) it holds the charge after being shelved and without the acid leak of conventional batteries; (4) a clean design for office carry (that Stiletto the other commenters have mentioned, that is twice the price, looks a little gaudy and sci-fi); (5) a full broad light without the concentric circles of plastic supermarket-quality flashlights; and (6) although it is made in China, the company is a US company.

    I've carried mine every day since I bought it. I also got the FDE model and, as of yet, I have had zero issues. I agree that it's best suited as an EDC flashlight. I'd probably get a removable battery flashlight for any type of storage, and have done so with my dedicated truck/emergency/home lights. I'm still l using some older Mag Lights for most of those purposes. Overall I really like the Wedge for EDC and I'll probably get a second when I see another sale.

    Bought one off of a tool truck when the vendor showed it off. I never leave the house without a flashlight, however carrying a 1inch tube around in the pocket sucks, and isn't 'incognito' in the pocket either. This thing is an absolute gem for an EDC light, rides like a dream, and illuminates your immediate area more than enough. I am with you though on the lack of a cover for the USB-C port, especially with that port being the only thing exposed outside of the pocket it tends to gather bits and pieces of whatever environment you are in. Otherwise it's a homerun as far as a pocket light goes for me. Really enjoy your vids dude!

    Love it. ......Overpriced, but love it. I got one in black from Green Top. I think its selling point was its uniqueness, and yes, good comparison to OTF.
    The reason I like Wedge;
    A) the cognitive switch that I can turn it on at any stage of mind; just woke up, dazzled, so sick, very weak, hurt, shaking cold etc. and can do with a glove off or on and, its user-friendliness; you just flick it, and anyone in the family can do; so easy.
    B) the usb-c charging port is best for travellers and campers, and
    C) the deep pocket carry together with its shape, it sits nice and tight in the pocket ready to go.
    Now, in 2023 you can check out the new Nitecore EDC27. More interesting features but sure, more expensive. I can stick with my Wedge for a while.

      Lol to spend that much on a light is absolutely jerk off level, stream lights, o lights, nite cores, are excellent lights and a quarter to half the price, I been carrying the wedge edc for close to 7 months now, I’m a machinist I use it every day many times. And it’s a beast. I have one stream light and the thing is absolutely useless, it eatssssssssss cr123a batteries within minutes it seems. And sure fire cr123a batteries are not cheap, completely useless. Thing has sat on my dresser for months now . Dead batteries went through a 12 pack of batteries in less then a month, and if ya opt to get the charger and rechargeable cr123 s there’s another 40-50 bucks, so at the point your over 300 fucking dollars for a light that has less lumens then any of my stream lights o lights thru nites and much more I own. Sure fire is max 600 lumens. Don’t get me wrong sure fires are good lights, but not worth the 2 3 4 or more dollars when you can get a nite core tini2 700 lumens for 40 dollars.

High beam at 500 lumens, plus a mid-range white, and a very low light green. Sturdy, well-made, compact, rechargeable or replaceable with one AA batt. Great pocket clip keeps the thumb plunger above the pocket edge and it clips to the brim of a ball cap perfectly. Generally around $50. I also prefer using a light in certain holds/gun which work best with a tailcap switch. I like the profile/shape of this light and wish it had a rear switch.

    I always lose those rubber gaskets, or break them, and it makes the device feel cheap and broken. Big fan of this light, my only real issue after EDCing this since release day is how it slips out of certain pocket shapes a bit easily when sitting. I added a "ranger band" to give it a little more grip inside the pocket. Spot on about use case, this isn't a field light it's a USB rechargeable urban EDC.

    I really like the design and style of this light. It looks very functional and comfortable modeled after a knife. It’s surprising that no one else has thought of this before. I’d absolutely buy one but not for $80-$100. That’s way too much for me to spend on a flashlight. I’ll wait till Olight makes a $20-$30 version. Thanks for all the great content….You are my go to reviewer and product referral guy.

    I really like the Streamlight Microstream carry it everyday super small and the usb-c port is covered by a sliding clam shell design. Says it's only 250 lumes high and 50 on the second press low but it's just as effective as some 500 lumen lights I have with the beam pattern so focused in a tight cone it'll do the job in my off hand in a self defense situation and small enough I can two hand grip properly if need be and not drop my light. Can't always have the Tlr1HL on every edc set up those micros fit the bill well lol.

    I was intrigued by this light, but the lack of thumb activation from the rear is a complete non-starter for me. I EDC a Streamlight Protac HLX with a Thyrm Switchback, and I consider it a defensive tool as well as a everyday light. If I can't activate the light in an ice pick grip then it's instant no.

      I carry a Fenix LD30 and I laugh every time someone claims to carry a knife for "self defense". I am a USMC veteran and NONE of my 3 edc knives are for self defense unless it's a wild animal, one for food, one for work, and one to loan out/beat on. My 1600 lumen flashlight is my PRIMARY self defense tool if ever the need should arise.

    I think it's cool. But how would you shoot with it? I understand not everyone carries a pistol daily, but for those of us that do and don't use a WML, I'm trying to figure out a shooting position with it. The only one that comes to mind is a very, very old school FBI position where the flashlight is held at arms length to the side, in case some one was shooting back at your light.
    Very cool looking light. I do like the bronze.

    Absolutely agree with you on the price. That would not be my first choice for the money. Also if you are right handed and clip it in your right pocket the switch would end up on the bottom by you index finger vs. your thumb . For the price, streamlight fails in every light ive experienced. Fenix has always come through and has many more useful features. 5 different light levels for when you wanna be covert, super bright for good penetration, disorienting strobe for defense reasons, and (I think they have stopped doing this) s.o.s. excellent customer service and durable lights.

    This light looks like a neat concept but appears to only make sense set up to run it in your right hand. The switch is on the left hand side of the body which compromises your grip in your left hand. Also, I can't imagine this light working well at all with a [p]istol in your other hand. Tail switch is ideal. Heck, Mag Lite's even fit the bill better here IMHO.
    I don't think it's a bad light. I think it has some flaws and is a bit gimmicky. It's pretty bright and scores a few points for being rechargeable.

    Nice review. I picked one up last June. It is my primary EDC for around the house/at work. I’ve been astounded by the battery life. My primary use is momentary on/off but I think I’ve only charged it three times since I received it and only once was that when the red LED indicated low battery. If I want better through, more tactical tail cap, and the ability to replace batteries in the field, I go with one of my SureFires. However, as a general use light I have not been disappointed.

    The form factor Is the real winner here. I personally love that it doesn't have that rubber gasket on the port. I hate them. The real drawback for me is that it is approaching 100 bucks. There are a lot of lights that put out way more light with way more modes for a lot less money.

      In a situation where going into Strobe mode might be what you need to buy enough time to get you out of a tight spot. It’s a Less Lethal alternative to going straight for your Sig/Glock or knife. A small powerful (at least 2000 lumens) LED TORCH can be an excellent LL deterrent. But only in the right situation!

    this is a very cool looking light. I have the Olight Arkfield, and it is shaped very similarly, but a bit smaller, with more modes, and longer run times. Have you had a chance to look at that one> it is around the $80 mark normally ( less when on sale) but I think while it's missing the OTF style switch, it is a decent option with the similarities. I would like to see a side by side comparison of the two. I find that close to 80% of the time, with all of the lights I carry, I tend to use the moonlight or lowest mode. very rarely do I want to really light up the night for distance. the major exception is my head lamp when i am riding in my power chair late at night. I need to know what is on the ground in front of me further out to be able toreact in time.

    those little rubber gaskets and such just wear out and rip off after a month or 2 of use my phone case used them, streamlight has a really solid warranty so they probably didn't wanna have to warranty repair them so they made it with better internals. Therefore when they do warranty work its for legitimate warranty repairs. Aaron have you tried the Stinger 2020 yet? I highly recommend it and getting a 2nd upgraded battery, having these 2 lights is all one person may need. Streamlight only needs to make aftermarket mounts for their lights so they can be stationary attached or setting on a object. These flashlights are worth the value for the quality, its all about KISS Keep it simple stupid.... all those options on a flashlight are truly pointless in the long run. What I love about the Stinger 2020 is it has a switch so you can set your flashlight to whatever brightness you want before you turn it on, and it has a pressure switch so you can use it by lightly holding the power switch. Its great for signaling.
