Why did you get your custom leather sheath made with oil tanned leather? I made mine out of veg tan leather and I tooled a geometric design into it and then dyed it with Fiebings Alcohol dye and then use Acrylic resoline to finish... I also coated the flesh side ( furry/fuzzy inside ) with Tokonole and burnished it to a glass finish so I didn't have to worry about anything soaking in. Just like you said, I didn't want oil soaking my stone constantly.... but your custom case is made with oil tanned leather lol???? This double stuff is a piece of sh*t, but I knew that before I bought it.... I wanted it to sharpen my leather stitching irons and other very small leather tools. I have all the big stones , but this is small one isn't a hassle to sharpen small prongs and such. As a professional artist and Bookbinder and a avid leather worker, I have tons and tons and TONS of tools that need to be honed, sharpened or polished daily. It's a huge pain in the butt hahaha
I use the sides of my benchstones too, helps to get the edge by the plunge line on dished out stones.
Definitely very useful!
Nice! You have that video to see for the leather pouches? I’d like one for my dc521.
Yeah Mark I had my eye on the ultra fine big spyderco stone I didn’t feel like puttin out 80 bucks but it’s worth it!!!!!!
