1:10 CSAT and Viper never use bullet proof vests, but it isn't their weak spot exactly... the reason they don't use plate carriers etc. is because their armour is built into their uniforms and so they have no need for extra armour.

Yeah, I have to agree. I had to carry one of those fuckers +20km during basic training.
It's sure possible, but I wouldn't be able to hit the broad side of a barn while/right after running with one of those.
2 weapons systems, 6 day mission outside the wire, food, water, hygiene, clothing, ammo, nicotine, sleep system, operational devices, batteries... Been there, done that. Never thought I would use my E-Tool in my Army career when I joined.. No shit, there I was, burying my shit on a mountain top.

OperatorDrewski The really big buildings okay, there one or two floors would be enough. But the small houses etc. should be enterable just like on altis....or else it's not worth a buy imo
Could see those new massive packs being interesting for certain milsim group scenarios. Say, playing as a unit making their way to an outpost on foot, being ambushed and attempting to fight off the ambush while carrying everything you own on your back.

+Robert Hodge what???? almost all heavy armor has thermals and everyone i know and see uses spmg with nightstalker , its meta. even more so with the new helmet.

I'd rather use the CSAT clothing. Gives very good ballistic protection and works a bit better in hiding your thermals. Also has better camo for the environment

You're not supposed to be able to run up a hill with a full bergen on your back. It's for the type of operation where you're living out of the backpack for one to two weeks.
If you get into a fire fight you drop it to fight and pick it up if you survive and are not on the run.
I like it when people think ridiculously heavy gear is something soldiers actually venture and march with.
It's always been the same, caravan/baggage in the back and if you're lucky, you have enough time to get the good stuff ready for a siege. 95% of the time during war, soldiers are just trying to find something to eat.

I bought myself a full Multicam Tropic bdu for airsoft just a few days before seeing that NATO forces would be wearing them on Tanoa. Goes without saying I was quite happy XD

This Arma 3 expansion pack is actually amazing, great SP campaign, and great content. Too bad most Arma 3 players that have like 1000s of hours in it rather still play the same maps over and over instead of actually giving the new location a go. You'd be surprised how many players with over 5000 hrs in Arma 3 have not even obtained Apex or other expansions which are totally worth the content and the few bucks. They have zero idea what they're missing.

Drew, noticed during NVG demo that the steps show up on the ground. If you haven't yet, can you see how long footstep thermal signature stays on ground. IE tracking people in the jungle with FLIR. Thanks, great video!
You could add that your weapon heats while shooting and is visible in thermal vision
And then you have to decide between a silencer and a whatever the f*** it's called to put on the end of your weapon.
Of course, there's something else to add to the end of your weapon ;)

Gendarmerie is a branch of the french army which acts exactly as a police force except its members are part of the army and it operates mostly in the countryside and in french territories across the world
I feel like the CSAT new gear is little bit on the op side when compared to its NATO counterparts.
thats always been the case, CSAT is supposed to be technologically superior to NATO in the alternate future of arma 3. NATO are the underdog
I kinda like that, shows CSAT's technological advantage.
But their chests aren't well defended though so i guess that's the balance.
Yeah less armor better gear has kinda been the theme for CSAT all along

Oh thank god. Thermal resistance. As someone who actively tries to get thermal scopes because of the ease of use, this is amazing. Thermal scopes exist in real life yes, but for a game its far too overpowered.
Real life thermals are far inferior to the thermals in this game. They are noisy (both in terms of audio when they are turned on and the pixelation going on in the screens), and are affected by almost all matter in between them. Fog (to and extent) and raindrops and windows completely block the vision of thermals and with enough distance between you and the target the image will get very blurry. I suppose they will improve in the future and moderns state of the art versions are better than the ones I've looked through but I doubt they will be as clear as in this game by 2035.
Of course making accurate thermals for a computer simulation will require so many new variables for the environment that it would make the game too slow even for the best computers we have today. But a some sort of noise filter would be nice to make them less clear to look through. I know some modders have already done this to NVGs.
That guy in the "thermal shielding camo" must be hot as hell in that heat trapping suit.
if u need a good example of the way the bergens would b used, i suggest u watch "the 1 that got away". they are carrying them when they end up preparing for an engagement and have to ditch them for a lighter more mobile loadout.

I've shot at those player models and they seem to take way more damage to kill than normal units, even body shots.
try the CSAT SF uniform with NATO SF rig carrier, you can take up to 4 7.62mm to the chest

my idea was the campaign is centered around spec ops maybe fighting the syndicate and rebels as well as the csat backers of these illegal groups. the sas would carry heavy bergens like that also as it would contain their camps and everything they need between locations. u should look into spec ops training around the world and a long hikes under a time limit with a bergen like that is usually included for a reason.
this is so cool like a Predator combat gear.

Haha, no. You most than likely seen that in Frakie's video but sadly it was just edit. Cloaking isn't in Arma 3.

ehm @OperatorDrewski ... okay... CSAT uniform got Ballistic Protection (6:55)? CSAT FullGhili also, but the Nato version didn't got BallisticProtecion (7:01)? The "Ghillie Suit GREEN HEX" CSAT it got also Ballistic Protecion (7:46)? It must be a bug, i hope so for many Altis-Life Cops :D
+iTripMWAT i think it has always been that way, just to balance out the low vest protection of csat
CSAT units don't wear plate carriers like NATO units. So to balance that, the armor is spread out into the uniform rather than being consolidated on the chest and their helmets typically also have higher armor ratings to protect from headshots. So in order for an Altis-life cop to kill someone in a CSAT uniform, its suggested to hit them center mass as usual as it's the biggest target and lightly protected.
i am really dissipated at the Tonoa faction i hoped it would be more then one unit much more of a stand alone faction like the AAF

Drewski, I've been wanting Arma 3 since it first came out (at first didn't really have much of an interest then) but maybe about 7-8 months ago I really started getting into the game . I still don't own the game (mainly cause every time I by a game of the same price or more the game then goes on sale! For a lot less just to taunt me!) but would you recommend getting Arma 2 on G2A because it's dirt cheap?
+Professor UA-cam save up for 3! Arma 2 still has some servers but is VERY clunky compared to 3

+Professor UA-cam has a bunch of singleplayer stuff (including a story) and then you have user created missions for CO-OP or single player, theb if you use the (downloaded, very user friendly) A3 launcher you have ALOT of free new (or old arma 2) maps and modes to play
