Phantom's Revenge front seat on-ride 4K POV Kennywood

- This Arrow Dynamics custom looping coaster was completely changed in the 2000-2001 off-season when it was converted into a Morgan hyper coaster. All four loops were removed, the drop was increased by 3 feet (1m), the length by 200 feet (61m) and the over the shoulder restraints were removed from the trains.
Kennywood is located near Pittsburgh in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.

this coaster just gets progressively more and more intense it's insane
You should have ridden it as the Steel Phantom! Inversions, corkscrews, and stupid speed!
@@BB-ow7bi too rough though. This is a million times smoother and a way better experience.
@BB-ow7bi wasn't it like hella rough
That legendary thump-thump-clank-clank of an Arrow lift hill… I shall forever cherish that sound.
EDIT: For the few people trying to correct me and say it’s a Morgan coaster: I understand it was *rebuilt* as a Morgan coaster, however, during the rebuild they retained the Arrow lift hill, hence the original comment.
Ace Briggs I love it too. I enjoy seeing people get scared of this ride
I love the one on Magnum XL200, just because it's so loud haha
Ace Briggs uhh this wasn't made by arrow.
The original (and still current) lift hill was.
This was made by arrow, but it was refurbished by morgan.
My favorite coaster - especially that HUGE fan turn behind the Thunderbolt. Nothing else like it.
Dan Zunko this ride is awesome. It's just so unique and that airtime is insane.
Dan Zunko After i rode the Racer, I would never go on a rollercoaster again 😂
i don’t like the feeling of when you go down the hills 😂
WOS TELEVISION the racer is so fun plus it not even scary I love the thunder bolt it’s so thrilling
Edan D I know i’m used to it but it was my first rollercoaster!
WOS TELEVISION my first roller coaster was the kitty land one and then my 2nd one was jack rabbit I rode that when I was 3
I love how they used the landscape and intertwined it with the vintage wooden coaster.
Oh wow, the second drop looks even more intense than the first one 😩
Junior Casemiro it is its larger. One of the few coasters in the world to have one like that.
Junior Casemiro it's about 70 feet larger than the first drop.
Filipolis looks can be deceiving. While It may not look that great, I can assure you it is a world class drop. Probably my second favorite drop, after Fury 325. It's actually really good, surprisingly.
The second half of the ride is absolutely crazy. Violent awesome airtime. You have to ride it to understand.
Filipolis You get great airtime going into the drop and some pretty intense g forces at the bottom of it.
When I was younger, my uncle told me if you listen to this ride as the train passed above you, you could hear a phantom moaning.
Between that and the bell from Noah’s Ark, the area around the Potato Patch is kinda scary.
It ain’t the first drop...it’s the second one that gets you.
Jose Hill That one murdered my stomach and I literally just shrieked
For me it was neither. The first 2 were the easy part. The rest of the hills nearly threw me out of my seat every time
not for me
First is easy second to last got me so bad
Sane I went yesterday
Here’s one thing to keep in mind. Now with the steel curtain open again for the 2021 season, everyone wants to ride it, so it always has at least a 2 hour wait. The phantom NEVER has more than a 10-20 minute wait. It doesn’t disappoint! Most people think that it will because they don’t see the whole ride because the best part is ducking under the thunderbolt!
Not for me i went and i left the line twice because they where both over 30 minutes. near closing time thats when me n my brother rushed in and finally got in
My hometown! Front seat is worth the wait!
PittsburghTroll Back is better too me
The back is better to me! And Pittsburgh is my hometown too!!
Unfortunately I have only been in the front once; the line was WAY too long and we didn’t have much time left 🙁
No it is not good sir I literally could get on twice before getting on the front
Back row all the way
Gotta Love the gritty old *STEEL MILLS* in the background so Pittsburgh haha
That is in fact the last mill operating in the area. All the others have been torn down.
@@zosxavius I think the Clairton Steel Mill is still open.
@@Charles-tt3dr its not a steel mill. its a coke works. there is also the irving facility still in operation.
@@zosxavius OK thanks!!
Zos Xavius No.Thats the Edgar Thomson mill across the river. The Clairton Coke Works is down river
Lovely POV! Excellent quality and the mounted camera gives an excellent angle.
Being from Cleveland, an avid Browns fan and Cedar Point fangirl ... I can confirm that this coaster is absolutely amazing. It's actually one of my all time favorites because of the way it uses the terrain. It's basically on a giant hill/mountain and its NUTS ... the left hill view is insane and its ride is so intense... definitely a ride that can challenge any ride at CP imo. It surprised me when I visited Kenneywood because I thought no way could this basic looking coaster compete with anything at CP! But wow was I wrong
This one was my favorite of the park. It goes fast, sure, but it also has long enough curves and drops and straightaways that you can feel the force on you when you're going through one.
Yeah when you first pull up to the amusement park it looks so unassuming. You can’t see all the mayhem going on over the backside. You can still hear the screams though, when you see them go over that second drop!!
Being from Da Burgh, its easy to take the Phantom for granted, but this thing is a monster even after all these years. A true legend in its own right. I've rode some of the biggest and fastest coasters around and this still ranks up there.
I agree. I was a kid and only rode the racer, jackrabbit, and Tbolt before they updated it from the Steel Phantom, so I never had a ride on steel phantom. After visiting some other parks with bigger coasters, I feel lucky that we have Phantoms Revenge. It's a great ride and always packs a punch. That feeling climbing back up before the second drop is legendary because you know something bigger is coming
Miss this sooo much. You always feel like you're going to hit your head on the bottom of the Thunderbolt when you go under it 😂
Swear
Why is that chain lift so satisfying to listen too
Its a arrow remade into a morgan
That's just how arrow lifts are.
The lift hill of an arrow (the company who made Steel Phantom) is just great. Another company was hired to redo Phantom, and it is really different, but that lift hill was kept.
it wasn't irl lol
Rode this today. Have ridden it many times on many other visits and it’s always a rush. The long climb gives you a long time to think about whats going to happen and after the first drop you get no breaks till the very end. A lot of people knock that long climb but to me its the scariest part of the ride. You keep thinking “when will this end???” and it just seems to go higher and higher.
Brings back good memories I was only 15 when I road this. Man times flies when you are having fun.
I was 11. Will forever be one of my favorites!
One of the best coasters in the world. Even though they took out the loops - it will ALWAYS be the Steel Phantom.
I like how it goes through a different coaster
I didn't
@@gasmask9832 uh yeah it does😂
The other ride is called thunder bolt. Even though I’m a yinzer I fell like I said the wrong nam of the ride😂😂😂
@@nick5422 he meant that he *didn't* like how it went through the thunderbolt
@@Coasters3356 you said yhe right name
as much as we all are excited for steel curtain this will forever be a star (especially with the air time you get at the end)
This thing is great! Only been to Kennywood once and this was probly my fav. The airtime is great
I grew up coming to Kennywood and riding every ride in the park countless times. This coaster will always be my favorite.
Steel curtain is coming this summer
Man that back seat mixed with the second drop must be crazy asf 🤦🏾♂️😩
it was crazy, i was the exact back seat with my brother. the stomach drops was crazy
Ride this Everytime I go to Kennywood almost every summer and i love it... It has probably one of my favorite drops.
This is one beast of a coaster, but what makes this stand out is how Kennywood is limited for space and expansion doesnt seem to be an option, so they must get creative with the landscape.
The second drop is larger than the first because it goes down the natural hillside under the thunderbolt, which makes the thunderbolt very interesting as well. You actually start off going down a hill from the get go, which is interesting for an older wooden coaster and another showcase of the unique landscape they are working with at Kwood.
This is my favorite ride at Kennywood
I got to ride the Original Steel Phantom!! The original ride was no joke! It was rough but I loved it!! This is still one of my favorite roller coasters of all time. Kennywood is my hometown park 🙂👍🏿
Personally i like the original better, but Kennywood got too many complaints so they had to make changes.
I went front seat on this ride too. The airtime was great! And the drops were amazing! Loved this ride
Those bunny hills are what gets you😂
You have to admit it is one of the greatest rollercoasters ever created.
THIS LOOKS AMAZING!! I’m so excited for that ejector airtime! Can’t wait to ride iit
The second hill has a lot of floater air time to both front and back are amazing on this coastet
@@outlawgd3530 you were only 3 years late to his comment
I rode this for the first time 4 days ago for my birthday and omg ! The airtime on this ride is insane . Definitely a great experience.
All rise for the Arrow Dynamics lift hill music
Only rode this a few times in 2004, but it was awesome! Amazing ride, and killer airtime on the back half, and that fan turn after the 2nd drop, mmmmm love it!
Omg this was such a fun ride to go on! I can't wait to go on it again in the summer!
I live in pittsburgh and
this is my fave ride out of all
of them at kennywood!
I’m in the minority I’m sure but I miss the original Steel Phantom. I LOVED that ride. If you didn’t hold your head still it’d beat you like a boxer and there were some great inversions. Way more intense ride. This is so tame in comparison.
Sir i totally agree with you! This ride is tame compared to the original Steel Phantom.
Fer sure! Oh man the parts on the original phantom after that huge 2nd drop were brutal. One of the first times I’d ridden it after that 2nd big drop I was like, great the big part is done and now I’m calmer and can look around the park for these last bits of the ride. I turned my head and it my face smacked the firm restraining pad so hard. Kept my head good and firm against the headrest for the entire ride any other time I rode it after that.
I guess some people really like to get beaten up
Yeah but this is just so so smooth. Overwhelming smoothness in my opinion beats overwhelming intensity
My Mom and older brother used to tell me about the Steel Phantom when I was younger. I was so scared of going on this ride for years until I was 14. The drops felt like I was going to fall to my death and I've never grit my teeth so hard.
I have been to kennywood since i live 15 minutes away from it and It is WAY faster than it seems and its REALLY scary I mean REALLY its one of the scariest ones I have EVER road-
also they recolored it purple-
I wish it could be longer, cuz it's SO GOOD.
This roller coaster is something else! Usually after the first drop, it's all good but then I saw the second drop. Wow
Phantoms revenge is one of my favorite rides its beat by the steal curtain and the sky rocket.
I like it over both.
I love watching it while waiting in line for the black widow
Slammed Miiata ikr
I live how it uses the ravine at the bottom😍
Rode this for the first time this past Saturday and omg was it fun. That second drop is extremely fast and watch out for the bunny hops at the end they are not what you will expect. They are wild 🔥🔥🔥
Kennywood the place to be right now!
Dude the speed going into the 2nd drop looks insane!
Beautiful and smooth second life given to the old Phantom. So glad. So wonderful.
My all time favorite coaster. My scariest ride was a few years ago when I got into the front seat. I was alone, the place wasn't crowded, so no one got in beside me. I clicked on my seat belt, then noticed that it wouldn't catch (it uselessly just kept pulling out to it's full length). After a few tries, and after the lap bar was down, I called over one of the guys and told him the problem. He pulled on it a couple of times, saw that it wouldn't catch, then said, "you'll be okay". Before I could say anything else, the ride took off and I started up the big hill sans seat belt. I spent the entire time climbing the hill trying to find the best way to wedge myself in. It was one wild ride and gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "air time". I got back alive, warned the next person, reamed the guy out, and to be sure reported the problem at the park office. Only problem I've ever had in many years of Kennywood trips.
I can assure That you were in absolutely no danger. The lap bar is the only restraint you really need, many coasters operate with only lap bars and are perfectly safe with no deaths or injuries. The only reason it is there to make insurance costs lower
Seatbelts on coasters are not the primary locking mechanism. In fact, they are just a redundancy. The seatbelt’s only purpose is to make the coaster look safer.
@@bandmfanboy The seatbelt's purpose is to provide a redundant safety system, in case one fails. If the seatbelt fails mid-ride, you have the lap bar. If the lap bar fails mid-ride, you have the seat belt. Safety requires both (like having a seatbelt and an airbag in your car).
That looks so fun
BUTTERY SUPERTUBER it isssssss
BUTTERY SUPERTUBER it is
It is, but very rough.
BUTTERY SUPERTUBER It is soo much fun. Most of the rides hills have Airtime besides the first dip and first drop
Abby Mccandless Not really, the airtime against the restraints might make it rough some, but it is smooth for a 17/18 year coaster
I have ridden in the front sear many times. How cool when it goes underneath the Thunderbolt. Sally. Butler, PA.
Slowest lift hill of all times lol
_ryanjs_ I fast forward it
Watch Beasts.
_ryanjs_ then you clearly haven’t seen the Beast’s lift hill lol
No magnum holds that record
Caleb Reese lol, that too :D
I'm getting myself hyped I'm going to Kennywood on Saturday I'm already excited!! I'm going on skyrocket first though! Ugh I'm excited!!!
To me this ride is nothing but pure speed..... I honestly prefer that. But, is there any way we can have a ride like this, but instead of a chain up a hill, we just power launch up a hill and let the speed take care of the rest?
Basically that's what maverick is
you heard it here guys, phantom's revenge's revenge, coming in 2030!
SFAPowerhouse That make it rougher. I love the airtime though
I like how it seems like a real smoooth ride, no annoying sudden turns or jigging twists , all about the roll
There aren't any rolls on Phantom's Revenge.
B&M Fanboy are you saying these cars have no wheels ?
@@FenceThis No. The trains have wheels. I though you meant a twist or a roll as an element.
My Friends are crazy scared of this and refused to ride it but I would lol
i went on this ride like last year in the front seat and it was sooo worth it, super fun the second drop is so intense and the airtime !! chefs kiss
What airtime?
@@bandmfanboy You were definitely riding in the morning or the winter didn't you
@@GoudLoodje Morning. I left the park before noon.
@@bandmfanboy theres airtime at the end on the little hills
New coaster hitting kennywood this summer called steel curtain
And this is still better imo.
I love this ride! Going up the hill gives me the most anxiety lol
As soon as we start going down it’s a blast!
I remember I rode this and got off crying 😁
I look forward to this ride every year :)
That looks amazing but also a bit short :/
Its pretty short and sweet. Very intense the whole time. Kennywood is very constrained by having a small property to work with.
It's definitely too short. But I still love it.
ST SNSGT the ride time is actually 2 minutes. which is actually what the girl says when you leave the station. the thrilling part of the ride is only about 40 seconds i’d say, the rest of it is going up that first hill.
It's way slower and funner when you're actually on it
ST SNSGT Its a longer ride once you get on it. Watching always make it seem shorter.
Wow never got to ride this since it was PR... it looks crazy! Crazy FUN that is
My home town I love the phantom I we go every year to kennywood 🤧😫
For some reason, when I went to Kennywood last there was barely a line for this ride. Went on like 4 times no problem
idk why honestly. best ride in the park
2:30 no air gates on a hypercoaster
Andy Roman it's Kennywood they are on a budget.
PixelBuster04 I believe you are right
This coaster station is historical, if your over the red line the workers tel you to step back and they make sure you will not get hurt, this was the station for laser loop which many adults know, Kennywood kept this station to allow people to remember Steel Phantom and Laser Loop
The station was built in the early 80s. Used to have a Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop called Laser Loop. Then this was built as Steel Phantom in 91. Less maintenance with some simple hand rails and no fancy air powered gates.
who else is on a binge watch in Quarantine of watching Roller coasters???
I am. I tried going to Cedar Point and the masks in the heat are unbearable.
Whenever the sound of going up a rollercoaster is happening and I can hear it, I feel like something bad will happen xD
socially awkward potato I can hear it had way across the park... Lol.. When your on it you can hear it some
Man... when arrow makes coasters like these, the track profiling is so satisfying to look at
Dandyych1ki The original Steel Phantom was by Arrow, but Morgan rebuilt the entire ride, so now it’s a Morgan hyper
Yes someone finally came to Pittsburgh
ditzy\derpy hooves Many people have... Rip.
Also there will be more since of Steel Curtain
That tiny little double down looks so ridiculously intense and airtime packed that it might shatter my thighs when I potentially go to Kennywood next year.
Just rode this yesterday, amazing coaster
That chain lift gets me in the feels.
Feels like the longest climb and will have you questioning yourself lol
That lift hill gives me anxiety lmao
That thing looks awesome. Its neat it never slows down till the end.
that second drop is giving me anxiety haha
I love the clunk clunk of the lift hill, so iconic to Kennywood.
Iconic for every park that has an Arrow built lift hill.
Quix The Big One in Blackpool Pleasure Beach has a different sound for some reason
Scrat: this is the most shocking roller coaster ice age 4 created
This looks magnificent! I have to get to Kennywood.
2:07 Is that some of Steel Phantom's track and trains on the right?
The track in the station, transfer track and lift hill is all steel phantom track just painted green and the train is the second train they run to increase capacity on crowded days.
I went on this last year and i was scared for the first drop i did it easily but then the second drop came in and i was terrified but great ride overall
every time i ride this i fly up in the air like i feel like imma fall out 😤
I KNOW RIGHT!?!?! Just like the jackrabbit!!!!
Amanda Erickson yesss i hate the jack rabbit i feel like it’s not safe idk why
@@maiaraowens I think it's cuz it's an old rickety coaster so it doesn't seem as reliable hahaha
Maiara the power of negative Gs. Very common on coasters and nothing to worry about
@@AyeLynn8D It's been running for over 100 years without stopping and without a major accident. You are perfectly fine.
I love this ride, fun fact it used too be the steel phantom, man I miss riding this
Anyone else watching this knowing your going to Kennywood Saturday 4-27-19 for Season Pass day? Because I am 😂🙄
I rode that bad boy way back when it still had a loop.
A girl's phone went flying from the second drop last weekend. Shouldn't of been recording 😭😭
CjVibess He has his camera mounted on the train, you can put your camera or GoPro on the mounter thingy and it will stay
He has permission from the park
Cj that is why parks tell you to secure all loose articles. Flying phone cause damage. Mounted GoPro are far more secure.
Well that girl is a dumbass.
where?
Funnest roller coaster I've ever been on esp. how you fly up on the little hills.
I went on this when I was 6, and I wasn’t even tall enough for it yet 😂
Yeah, Kennywood was always loose with their height policy. I'm still not sure that loose strap on the Jack Rabbit was real either.
I'm high enough for the musical Express I do not know if I'm tall enough for phantoms revenge
Have not been there but it is ok,looks like fun, thanks for the ride, let's ride again, yeah!!!
The second drop is faster I rode it three days ago
Nolangamer Playz It reaches 80 mph,
Planet Simply It’s 85. First drop is 60
Vikraanth Sinha I know it reaches in the above 80 area, so I put 80, thanks.
Planet Simply The Steel Phantom reached 80
I’ve never done the phantom... Have done the sky rocket and I’m planning to do the phantom next time I go
These are my people
Of all the Morgan coasters, this one seems to have the best layout
1:28 that drop tho
this is by far *the best* ride at Kennywood
when half the video is lift hill 😍
YAS I’m going here tomorrow and ima ride this awesome ride and the new roller coaster xD
Who else have rode this
Me
I did this in the back seat which is were you get most air time and my friends seat buckle came undone 😂 he was holding on for dear life.
I cant wait to go to Kenny wood and ride it now
1:36 JESUS CHRIST DONT HIT YOUR HANDS
Don't worry, that's just a hand chopper effect where it looks like your hands would come off.
kate sirota head choppers are pretty cool elements. Don't worry, you won't hit anything.
Its actually higher than it looks. Trust me.
Just went on it and yeah, the second drop fealt like an out of body experience!
