The C-295 is a extremly efficient plane in terms of capabilities versus cost. Aditionaly it can be manufactured with a lot of configurarions, making it a very flexible flying platform.
You've forgoten the grandpa: CASA 212 Aviojet. Indonesia bought a big ammount of these Aviocar planes. That's why Nurtanio become a partnet with CASA. They were very interested in a bigger plane. Indonesia has a large amount of isles, and other places difficult for bigger planes. France, Turkey or South Korea's Air Forces have more planes than Spanish Air force.
Yes and now CASA has remove their production facility to Indonesia. So IPTN (Now PT DI) can produce the plane called C 212i and the local derivatives N 219. Ironically Indonesia "failed" to develop further their version of CN 235, ended at CN 235 - 220 but succeded create diverse function including Maritime Patrol (MPA). Next plan is to have C 295 AEW&C version and develop it locally.
For me CASA should be remembered as well for the Casa C212... A low cost flying box ... Basic, 5 tons and multiuser, high wing that can land almost anywhere. Easy to keep as well.

DI still struggle to certificate and sell N-219 so i expect them to focus on this type first before going for N-245 or N-270. There is also a project simmilar to N-270 from a private company called R-80. R-80 is a project from PT. Regio Aviasi Indonesia to become successor of N-250. I heard this program for the first time around 2016-2017 but i didn't here too much progress from this project today. I hope you can cover N-250 sometimes in the future! N-250 is extremely revolutionary for indonesia since it is the first aircraft that indonesia make without assistance from foreign countries. N-250 itself is also quite revolutionary because it use fly-by-wire for a regional aircraft and use some kind of CAD to speed up the development.

I have seen this plane in action. It's very useful in short runways with difficult terrains. Only a helicopter can land in more places, but not fly as fast as these. They also fly well in the higher air density altitudes.
Awsome video. I have always loved this plane, for it is humble, straight to the point and efficient. It covers the segment where operational costs are a burden and no one wants to operate a huge Atlas 2000 o an Hercules to deliver a few pallets. Simple incredible.
Love the designs of the smaller military transports. They fill a much needed niche in aviation, a modern more mature version of the famed C-47. They maybe small now, but are much needed.
Very good military versions of a comon civilian plane it’s extremely good and durable here in French Polynesia with been using in some of the world most rugged conditions and so of the world shortest cans most difficult landing strips the civilian versions for over 30 years and we got nothing but praises ❤❤❤
FYI the N250 program was so advanced at that time, it's the first regional turboprop designed with fly-by-wires flight control systems,...caused of Asian economic crises at the time and mismanagement...it's eventuality abandoned ,quite pitiful actually

Nah. Plans have changed, for the better might I add. The 100+ An-32 are now to be replaced by 80 aircraft in the A-400M category. That is a massive boost to the Indian Air Transport fleet. If only we could have ordered more C-17.......we needed 25 but only bought 11 before the factory shut down. :(
Looking at the An-32's engines, they look massive compared to the fuselage, almost comically large. I guess because it's a modified An-26 with raised engines so the bottom nacelle still needs space for the landing gear.
Smaller, propellor driven aircraft can land in tighter and less forgiving spaces. If you have to make an adhock runway or land/takeoff from a highway... this is preferable.

It was due to the nighmarish hangover from the democratization in Indonesia precursored by the cathastrophic economic crises between 1997-early 2000, Indonesian aviation industry was heavily downgraded; had that not taken place, the N-250 would have been filling the commercial niche for 50-pax plane, years ahead before the ATRs.
Hehehe Here In Colombia we do some "modifications" on a pair of C-235 with a lot of ELTA/IAI equips... Sadly one gone down killing 11... The other one, is now the Head of Electronic warfare and SIGINT of the "Fuerza Aérea de Colombia" FAC (Colombian Air Force).
For some reason, unforeseen serious operational issues have arisen with the RCAF Kingfishers. So much so, that they will not be operational until 2025. Not much information has been released about what is the issue. It has been noted that SAR techs taller than 5’10” have a difficult time moving in the cabin.

India will likely induct 200 of such aircraft once tata knowhow they will modify it and count will reach atleast 200 cuz similar number of An32 IAF needed to retire by 2030 onwards.
Unfortunately Korean Air Force which received the planes under offset deal with Indonesia retired the entire fleet early due to poor quality and poor maintenance support. They wanted to get the Casa version but they were given the Indi version. Since then, they never looked at another European design till 2015
My first multi engine flying job was flying the CASA 212. Was a great airplane. I later flew the SAAB 340. The 235 and 340 used the same GE engine. This engine sucked.
Overproud Indonesian cried here. I tought CN 235 and then CN 250 was created by Indonesian engineer and scientist since beginning. And cried even harder realising even with this join-transfer aeroplane technology we still can continued it propperly.

The rear landing gear on the Canadian C-295 is fully retractable and enclosed in flight. I believe that it was a requirement to purchase the aircraft.
Serbia just purchased 2 of C-295 for its military.

Not much information has been released about what is the issue. It has been noted that SAR techs taller than 5’10” have a difficult time moving in the cabin.

India will likely induct 200 of such aircraft once tata knowhow they will modify it and count will reach atleast 200 cuz similar number of An32 IAF needed to retire by 2030 onwards.
Unfortunately Korean Air Force which received the planes under offset deal with Indonesia retired the entire fleet early due to poor quality and poor maintenance support. They wanted to get the Casa version but they were given the Indi version.
Since then, they never looked at another European design till 2015

Overproud Indonesian cried here. I tought CN 235 and then CN 250 was created by Indonesian engineer and scientist since beginning. And cried even harder realising even with this join-transfer aeroplane technology we still can continued it propperly.
