I have been propagating string of pearls in water to share with my friends. I discovered that if I use a clear glass container they develop roots twice as fast! So this vase is definitely a better option!
We’ve had the same fiddle leaf fig since the late 1960s that has moved with us from TX>WI>VA>VT>NY>NC. I hope it remains a North Carolinian for the rest of my life! Throughout its +50-year life, it’s done very well through being cut back almost to soil level (for rides in moving vans or in times of stress - as when boy across the street ca. 1970 attacked the leaves with his new pocket knife!) and seems to thrive being pot-bound. We’ve taken numerous cuttings for family members over the years who have wanted their own to nurture. It’s certainly tolerant of the range of conditions and treatment we’ve thrown at it and is very much a member of our family!

Thank you Laura for info! I just sent your video to my daughter as she is trying to make a home for her second FLF 🙏she recently purchased. 🎉 Thanks 💓 for the tips..got mine today its about 3 feet. Transferred to another bigger pot, added some fish emulsion with warm water, and its under a plant lamp to get happy. Itscreally beautiful and I will keep it indoors. Now I have to get its own stand 🎉
I appreciate you leaving in the videographer even when something goes wrong and explain it fix it and keep going. I like the reality of the videos. Thank you!
I saw the first early signs of too much water- pink dots from burst cells (edema) when i told the nursery i had cut back to once a week he screeched and said more like once a month. This is in cool southern Australia- so always check with a local. Here the reccommandation is that they dry completely, and mine is doing well.
Laura, I’ve been a long time viewer and every new season you always keep me encouraged, but I must confess that I’m throwing the towel in! I have failed to keep anything alive indoors OR outdoors for that matter, should I just give up or do you have words of encouragement. I mean I have tried almost everything and I go back to your videos to see if I missed something, but of no avail😞🤦🏻♀️💔🤷🏻♀️
Good Morning Laura, beautiful fig leaf plants. They grow fairly quickly it seems so I definitely need to stay on top of it before any issues arise. It's such a beautiful and lush plant. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you so much for the detailed guide you gave for this beautiful plant. I just purchased my first one and felt completely in the dark of how to care for her. Now I feel confident that I can give her a good home.
Thank you for the video. The Fiddle Leaf Figs are my favorite houseplant. Recently I've seen the trend that shaking your Fiddle Leaf Fig everyday for five minutes encourages new growth. Do you think that is true?
I’ve heard that is more to encourage the stem to grow thicker and stronger, basically mimicking wind so that it doesn’t get too wimpy from living inside. That would be interesting if it encouraged new growth as well! Either way it certainly can’t hurt!
I just bought a fiddle leaf fig plant from Ralph’s, which is about 4 ft tall for $12!!! I’m so excited. It is alittle beat up, 2 leaves are for sure burnt because of lack of water.. and 2 have holes in them… otherwise I’m so excited! This is my first plant project. I can’t wait to see its growth! I will be using all the tips you gave🙏🏻😊
Loved this video! I have been a little intimidated about adding a Fiddle Leaf to my collection, but you explained everything so well, I feel pretty confident. Heading out the door to find a Fiddle Leaf! Have a wonderful day and Hugs from SC! 🌻👩🏼🌾🌻
After watching this video, I decided i could handle a fiddle leaf fig. I went to Home Depot, did some of my best leaf inspection, and got one! I am so excited about my new plant! Thank you for the confidence and helpful care information!
This is such a great video. I recently purchased a fiddle leaf and had no clue how to care for it. This video is so informative. Thank you for the time stamps and getting straight to the point.
I got a ff from a friend, and really haven’t known how to take care of it, just not to overwater! And keep it in one place, they don’t like to be moved around, right? Thanks for all the info, once again you have saved the day! Off to the nursery to get some leaf shine! I know some people hate it, but I want to try it and I trust Bonide after seeing you use all the products in your vlogs.
I have a tall, lanky fiddle leaf fig and was the hesitant to trim it for fear of messing it up. You gave me the confidence to trim it back and propagate it. Thanks for that!
O.M.G. Talk about timing 🤯 found my fiddle leaf flopped over last night 🥺 from lack of water 🤦🏼♀️ sooooo mad at myself! She’s better this morning though YAY. Thank you for the refresher on fiddle leaf plants Laura❣️ yours are beautiful and I hope mine grow up to be as beautiful 🤩🌻
Always full of so much information! Thank you! I’ve also seen people trying to propagate fiddles with leaf cuttings. It’ll never be more than a leaf and won’t produce anything more than just roots. Do what Laura does - you definitely need the woody stock to produce more fiddle leaf fig plants.
Thanks for sharing. Would really appreciate an update video on the propogation, their root system, time it took and if there is anything else that needs to be kept in mind
I just bought one last month and super happy because I always wanted one. There were only 3 left so it wasn’t in the best of shape. It has two new leafs already. Yours are huge and beautiful!
Thank you so much for this video! Super informative without trying to sell me anything. Thank you, THANK YOU from a new fiddle mama ❤️❤️🥲 so excited to grow my baby!
I’m pretty sure that your first fiddle/fig video is how I found your channel 3 or 4 years ago. I’ve been learning from and being entertained by your videos ever since!
Love this video. I have recently bought two fiddle leaf fig plants and two days later long and behold spider mites infestation..i gave it a good shower to rid of the mites and then sprayed with soap and water mix wait 5 days and spray again. No mites.
Perfect timing with this video! I just purchased my first Fiddle Leaf Fig last week. You've covered all the bases for me. Thanks so much! Love your channel. It's giving me all kinds of ideas and inspiration. I'm itching to get out in the yard asap!
I moved mine 2 months ago from a sunny side of my backyard to an area with a roof and the plant is doing beautiful. Thank you for the video, you are amazing.
Good job - I learned so much. My fig leaf started producing tiny brown spots and I did watch another video that suggested I was overwatering and that I had a fungus on my hands. The remedy it seems is to, as you suggest, to take it outside and check it out and change out the soil and become a better steward of this particular plant as I just love everything about how this plant looks and I want a success. I did not know it could tolerate bright sun and so I might let it have some time outside though I will be quite worried. Thank you so much for your educational video.
Thank you for this video! I got a small plant of this variety from my coworkers when my father passed away a year and a half ago and I would like to take care of it properly to have for many years to come so this video is PERFECT!!! I never knew they grew so big but I like how it looks in your video! I look forward to watching your videos each day and have learned so much from you. Thank you and God bless!
Wow! What a well done video. No BS to wade through to get to the meat. I checked to make sure it will not be toxic for my cockatiel, it is not. So there will soon be a fiddle leaf fig in my home.
I really needed this guide. My Fig doesn’t look any thing like yours. My leaves are definitely not as deep green. I will try these suggestions. Thanks Laura. Love this channel.
This was so helpful to me ! I have two on my patio in Florida. One is the larger leaf and one is the smaller leaf. They are both about a foot from my patio ceiling and I kept worrying about what I was going to do when they hit the ceiling. I didn't know I could take cuttings ! Problem solved ! Thanks Laura 🌹 Another thought . . . If you want to do an arrangement with foam in a glass vase, the leaves you took off would be great to wrap the foam so it's not seen !
I have one indoor and it’s so shiny and beautiful. So lovely I love it. It grows slowly but the leaves are getting so big. I may soon have to repot it in a bigger pot.
I don't have one either.. but probably will have one by the weekend! I saw that Home Depot just got them in stock with many sizes available to choose from.
Live in an Apt. I rescued a sad Fiddle Tree from Dumpster with 2 leaves. Beautiful & 29 + leaves now. Glad I never got on internet for care guide. I've done everything wrong: when/how to replant, fertilize ect. My Fiddle Tree is thriving on porch outside facing north in a shady courtyard.
Laura I’m so happy I found you & this impactful information! Immediately subscribed. I’ve wanted one of these for so long but was hesitant because I really had no knowledge about them. I think they’re so beautiful and beneficial as well! Will definitely be purchasing one! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! Your a great teacher, thanks again. Happy planting 👩🏽🌾🪴
You taught me things about this plant because I have killed two of them and have been afraid to get another. You have given me information and confidence to try at it again!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you! So timely for me. My husband brought his home from work and I can tell from your great advice that I need to do some work with it. This is my first experience with one and I am so, so grateful for your information.
I just picked up a small fiddle leaf fig at my local garden centre - my first one - and I appreciate your expertise in advising about all these points. I hope mine grows as beautifully as yours, but it IS small, so if I manage to keep it alive, it will take a long time to get to the size of your plants. Yours are just gorgeous, and I'm hopeful......
THANK YOU SO MUCH LAURA 💓💗💛 for talking about Fiddle Leaf Figs. I've always wanted one, but I do have one cat who tends to go after any plant I have indoors. But, after watching this video you have inspired me to try one indoors. Thank you so much.
Great video. So helpful, especially the propagation section with your close ups of where to cut the plant. I've seen so many propagation videos that don't zoom in. You really know your stuff.
Outstanding video: Just did some cutting's last week waiting patiently for the magic to happen: thanks for sharing your information and happy indoor gardening to you.
Love it when you do a full education on a type of plant. Some plants are considered to be “indestructible” but not to everyone. We have recently purchased a Mother-in-law plant that is about 3 feet tall. I recall my mom had one and said you can’t kill them. Well, ours has developed light brown circles in several (many) of the leaves (?). What should we do? We don’t know what is causing this. Needing your advice, please.
Thanks Laura for this video!! I've been waiting for an update for a couple of years! Could you please post and update the video when the roots grow out of the cutting and planting?
Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! I left my 10 year old fig outside too late into fall one year ago and had to start over. 😭 I’ve seen a few videos after researching how to re-pot these that said to remove 1/3 of the root system instead of upsizing your container - any insight on that method? I literally cried when you cut off the top as I’ve not seen that pruning ever done to this plant before 😰 but am so glad I now know how to propagate them!!
Excellent video! I love that you give a table of contents at the beginning! This can now be a reference book … er video that I can easily re-see when I have specific questions! Love it! Great information. I recently bought a FLF and absolutely love it! I have been known to be erratic with my watering/care and this plant seems to “weather” my flightiness. Again great video. Concise, without being toooo brief, thereby giving me more questions than answers! In fact I liked you so much I subscribed. Thank you.
Laura you have taught me sooo much actually everything I know about gardening when I'm about to do something I reference back to what you said or did and feel like a pro so thank you 😁
Thank you for the information. I haven’t had a fiddle leaf fig in many years and was afraid to get another one. I’m glad I know how to properly care for it now.
Sorry, but I ended up hating my FLF, never had it inside, but planted 6ft from our driveway for 25 yrs. Cost a $$$$$ to have trimmed many times, neighbour hated the mess in her garden, I hated the mess in mine, the gardener hated the constant falling leaves. Never watered it, or fertilised, grew to about 30ft in a semi tropical climate HUGE TREE. Still love your videos ....
I wish I’d seen this sooner! My fiddle leaf fig is a stick now with three leaves 🍃 on top. Thanks for the info though. First time growing a fig and I think I got most of it wrong.
Don't give up on it yet. Mine kind of limps through the winter inside my house, but when it's warm enough it goes outside and will generate new leaves and become a beautiful plant again.
Very very helpful. I looked at one yesterday but was so afraid I would kill it, I didn’t buy. But this video gives me more confidence. Thanks so much! 👏🏻💕👏🏻
That plant looks so much better now that you took a cutting off of it....but I gasped when I heard the snip!😳 I bet that was hard to do but necessary for the health of the plant. Thank you for the great info!
I love that your cutting is as large as my FLF, which is named "Taco". :-) Thatnks for this video, I was thinking about pruning Taco to encourage some branching out, as he is currently only 1 stem.
Mine is one tsll branch, too. I bought it about a year ago at around 14" tall and now it's about 36" . It was outside all last summer ... now inside under a plant light. I'm scared to cut it but I want branches. Darn it!
@@sherriedixon3889 Same! But I think the worst case scenario is that I kill the cutting (which I will try to root), and Taco lives on less a bit of height and does not branch - though it seems like he should branch. Good luck!
Very informative video. I recently got two of Fiddle Leaf plants. I've always liked them. Yours are gorgeous! Glad I found your video. And your cute too. Thanks
Wow, you have very healthy beautiful fiddle fig trees! So, I placed my newly bought Fig tree near the main door entrance. But the door is closed all the time. So maybe, I need to let it out to see the sun every day outdoor to see the morning sun a few hours a day if needed.
THANK YOU, thank you, thank you! I've been the butt of many jokes regarding my fiddle leaf fig. It's a confusing plant for me. FYI - I learn so much from your channel. Been following since fall 2020, and I'm now more confident to plant this spring. Can't wait!
I had a fiddle leaf fig for two years and moved it one year for Christmas and forgot to water it for two months. It dropped ALL its leaves. I cut the tall trunks down thinking it was dead and put it out behind the garage to throw away. I walked out about two months later and there were new leaves!!! It’s been back inside for the winters and outside in the summer ever since. Looks much healthier and happier now.

Thank you Laura for info! I just sent your video to my daughter as she is trying to make a home for her second FLF 🙏she recently purchased. My husband and I have watched you since you lived and gardened in the back yard in your former home. Also we’ve enjoyed how you and Aaron and your sweet family have grown and expanded, and I love when you and your sister and mom get together !!! 😊 You and your family are so much fun to watch, but all your hard work gardening and filming is work and is appreciated by so many! Thank you for sharing your all🥰
❤❤❤from FLA🏝️
Right on time!! I just bought this plant 🪴I was wandering what do I need to know to take care of it. And you came to solve the problem. Thank you😊
I just got a fiddle leaf. Been watching for years. Thank you for your genuineness and smile🙏🏻❤️
I just gone one with just 4 leaves. Yours is so amazing. Thank you for all tips
Thank you so much for the detailed guide you gave for this beautiful plant. I just purchased my first one and felt completely in the dark of how to care for her. Now I feel confident that I can give her a good home.
I just got a fiddle leaf fig , and I’m scared of killing it! I’m gonna try my best after watching your video ! 🥹
Your fiddle leafs are beautiful!! I already killed one. But got another about a month ago and am trying again. This video just in the nick of time.
Absolutely gorgeous big leaves, I just love them & with the info from this video...I'm ready to get me a fiddle fig tree.
I have a tall, lanky fiddle leaf fig and was the hesitant to trim it for fear of messing it up. You gave me the confidence to trim it back and propagate it. Thanks for that!
You've presented a detailed and thorough program for Fiddle Leaf Fig plants, and I thank you very much!
That one fig has grown & looks like it is doing well! All the figs are looking good! Excellent information on caring for figs! 😃🌿
For me it took about a month or so to see roots form. Planted the propigation up and it's doing great.
Thanks for the help. Did you have to change the water frequently?
Wow 🤩 your fig is huge I have one myself but it’s tiny, anyway thanks for all the tips 💚💚.
What a wonderful Lesson ---- sure don't have a lot of money after watching cause my wish list keeps growing --- but the plants bring me so much JOY!
I moved mine 2 months ago from a sunny side of my backyard to an area with a roof and the plant is doing beautiful. Thank you for the video, you are amazing.
Those are probably the most flawless Fiddles I've ever seen
Right!!! I've seen so many , and huge ones too....but they all have sunburn or edema. Her's are a great size and have amazing color😍
Just purchased my first Fiddle Leaf. Your video was very straight forward and easy to understand. Thank you for the info.
Laura
Great info. Love all your videos no matter when they were filmed.
Thank you.
❤❤❤❤
I have one indoor and it’s so shiny and beautiful. So lovely I love it. It grows slowly but the leaves are getting so big. I may soon have to repot it in a bigger pot.
I don’t have a fiddle leaf fig, but after I clicked this video I instantly want to get one
They can be expensive and difficult to keep looking good like the ones she has
I don't have one either.. but probably will have one by the weekend! I saw that Home Depot just got them in stock with many sizes available to choose from.

Same!!! Lol only because now I feel like I at least know the basics of how to properly care for it! Lol 🥳👌🏽🙏🏼
I would go to home decor stores and consider buying the I’m almost embarrassed to say 😞fake ones. Just couldn’t do it , I really enjoy having the real thing ,plant’s makes a house a home .
Very helpful. Your fiddle leaf fig plants are beautiful!!
OMG! Would you look at the size of those leaves! I have Fig leaf ENVY big time! This was a great video. I will try again!!!
Great video. So helpful, especially the propagation section with your close ups of where to cut the plant. I've seen so many propagation videos that don't zoom in. You really know your stuff.
So big, beautiful and healthy. I don't have one, I'm now tempted to get one.
Thank you, Laura❣
fiddle leaf fig trees are beautiful! It would be amazing to see these trees in their natural environment. It must be amazing. 🌳🙂
Wow! Very nice.
I just bough a Fiddle Leaf Fig yesterday I hope I have as much luck with mine as you did with yours.
Outstanding video: Just did some cutting's last week waiting patiently for the magic to happen: thanks for sharing your information and happy indoor gardening to you.
Yours are beautiful. My daughter has a couple so I forwarded your video to her. Thank You Laura❤️
Great instructional video! Thank you. I've killed a few fiddle leaf figs, but, after your video, I feel confident enough to give it another try.
My grandma has one that has grown at least 30 ft tall in her house :0
Does she live in a castle?
@@Wazupiseeyou LOL
No just a tall roof
this is why i want to live in a midcentury style house with two storeys: plenty of light and space for trees to grow inside 🌱💖
Thank you.
Such a big Fiddle Leaf
Laura you have taught me sooo much actually everything I know about gardening when I'm about to do something I reference back to what you said or did and feel like a pro so thank you 😁
Thank you for the information. I haven’t had a fiddle leaf fig in many years and was afraid to get another one. I’m glad I know how to properly care for it now.
Sorry, but I ended up hating my FLF, never had it inside, but planted 6ft from our driveway for
25 yrs. Cost a $$$$$ to have trimmed many times, neighbour hated the mess in her garden,
I hated the mess in mine, the gardener hated the constant falling leaves. Never watered it, or
fertilised, grew to about 30ft in a semi tropical climate HUGE TREE. Still love your videos ....
So beautiful seeing some bold, massive leaves!
Good luck!
I am rooting for taco
Can't wait!
Well, that was timely! I just came by two giant and very sad fiddle leaf figs that I'm planning to prune, propagate, and rehab. Thanks, Laura!
@@disneyjenn1671 So cool!
Hello Laura,
I noticed you put the pruned stem in water, but when is the stem ready for soil opposed to just water?
I would also like to thank you for your insight and in depth information, “All about planting.” Very useful information.
I adore my fig tree and I would like to do all I can to continue great results from it and keep it happy 😃.
I just killed my fiddle fig by putting it outside too soon now I have to get a new one. Yours are gorgeous
