Metroid Prime 3: Corruption made me a fan of Metroid and it was the first Metroid game I played in 2010. Yeah I know I was late to the series but hey better late then never.
My first was the original Metroid I think. The first one I owned and played was Metroid Prime Hunters, which after recently re-purchasing the game and beating it in the span of a week's time has made me agree in Johnny's assessment of the game as a whole. I still have nostalgic value for it as it was one of the first DS titles I owned.
Joel Auguste it is hard, just consider whether you're going to play it on the trilogy version or GameCube version, many bosses received nerfs in trilogy version however, GameCube version is as hard as can be especially if you're new to the prime series. expect to die A LOT and if you think it'll be too hard, then probably stick with trilogy version as this game is unforgiving and will tear you a new one, anyway yeah you get the point
my first one was metroid 2 on the gameboy, then zero mission, then fusion, then metroid, and lastly am2r. I still need to get into super metroid and the prime games, but im buying a wii froma friend soon, so yeah
Still enjoyed this game much more than the other 2. But the first Primes Pirate Logs are the best. Hope Prime 4 get's all kinds of lore and Logs...and please............no Other M level of Story telling.
lenny crip If you mean motion controls in general are better than non motion controls, I think its like comparing apples and oranges. I don't like the way motion controls are used in most games, for example, and I prefer the consistency and speed of pressing a button over swinging my arm and hoping the shoddy coding will register it as an input at some point in the near future. Some games do an excellent job with motion controls, but they are few and far between. Motion controls also suck up tons more processing power than simple button inputs, meaning the games end up suffering graphically.
yeah i found that the motion controls for the trilogy were great, finally i no longer have to stop moving to look up XD, on the gamecube version you have to stop, press R and then you can look up and you cant move while doing it so adding the motion controls made me feel like i was using a mouse and a keyboard thats why emulating this will probably be very easy since the arm canon is moved by the wiimote it can be moved by the mouse
Well, I think they've implied the NX will have new games in the Metroid franchise. But yeah, Metroid 5 or an explanation for the ship at the end of MP3 would be good.
Nintendo confirmed it. The ship at the end of Prime 3 is Sylux. And he's the antagonist of the next game. Consider this your divine retribution for dissing Hunters and Prime 2, Johnny.
Mario Tomic Right. I have Skype on my phone though, so i dropped my laptop and went searching for my damn phone. Or at least i thought i had Skype on my phone, because i accidentally waterlogged my fancy phone and on my replacement phone, i don't have Skype yet!
Heath Wilson Yeah ''mercenary'' is pretty much the better term since bounty hunters don't usually stay exclusive to one organization, while mercenaries often do.
gilgamesh310 Samus is in a class of her own. She's got enough firepower to take on an army. I mean, look what she's done to the Space Pirates by herself.
atreides213 Well then you actually mean thesis. But a theory is a hypothe- never mind just Google it. Damn it took so long to reply, I was really busy XD.
Also can I just say, Johnny is one of my favorite commentators, he always knows how to make me laugh "PUMP THAT SUM'BITCH UP!" always makes me laugh XD
I'm lucky then. I got the metroid prime trilogy for only 41 bucks. Also I started off on prime 3 and was the first metroid game I ever played. It actually did make me a fan of Metroid.
Allen The Ultimate Gamer I walked into my nearest gaming store the other day and there it was, waiting for me with a price tag of 5€ (6 dollars or something, I don't know).
Johnny finally got fed up with that "Screw Attack!" echo at 10:50 and decided to do something about it. By the way, the hint system can be turned off. There's an in game option menu that can allow you to do that.
Was it really necessary for Johnny to shoot whoever was doing that without revealing the identity of the offender? The "Screw Attack!" echo seems to me like a stunt that got overused.
"...Before Nintendo takes God knows how long to release the next one." *Four years later* Metroid Prime: Federation Force *One year later* Metroid: Samus Returns *One year ago* METROID DREAD
Welp, the ship following Samus at the end of this game is confirmed to be Sylux. I personally don't have a problem with that actually, because i rather liked Prime Hunters.
Sylux appears in Federation Force's stinger ending. He is seen grabbing a Metroid Egg and laughing maniacally... Very strongly implying a new game, and that the event that made the federation go "metroids need to die" involved Sylux
I really wish people would back off on Prime Hunters. A lot of people hate on it just because of controls as well as it being more gun happy then other Metroid games! It uses a lot concepts from the Prime series! (mainly having to scan just about everything to get the real ending). The story of the game is almost on par with the Prime series, or at the very least on par with a Metroid game in general.
I find the Trilogy releases the definitive versions of the prime games, for a number of reasons. 1. It's motion control that isn't fucking broken (Skyward Sword? What?) 2. THEY LET YOU JUMP IN MORPH BALL MODE 3. The enhanced visuals combined with the ability to look around while moving makes the graphics look amazing 4. Prime 2's more bullshit bosses have been balanced, and combined with the jump ball vs the spider guardian, they are no longer a problem. 5. It means I can give up my Wii completely and never have to keep going back and forth to play GC games, because the only non-prime game I have for the GC is SA2B, and I own the PC version anyway. 6. They let you choose what upgrades to unlock, and in what order. This means that you don't need to connect a GBA to use the fusion suit in prime 1, or the first thing you unlock is, say, the NES Metroid from prime 1.
I'm not sure, but I can play that on my phone more easily than it could take to unlock it here. And you get used to the beam switching thing easily once you play through most of prime 1.
for metroid prime hunters, it's more non-linear in the late game. there are 4 areas and 8 octoliths. meaning that after the initial 4 octoliths, you need to explore the areas to find new weapons and the remaining 4 octoliths. you can collect these in any order you want, making it non-linear without the use of sequence breaking.
Thats right, 50% off the first week, and its only £16/$20 in the first place (For me, since the 50% off makes it £8, and I already have £5 on the eshop, im getting the trilogy, which sells for like £100-£200 online, for £~4, PRAISE BE FUCKING NINTENDO!)
Metroid Prime Hunters is a great game for the single player. Not nearly as good as MP1 2 or 3 but Hunters has great exploration and the atmosphere is top-notch.
I'm not saying hunters was perfect, because to be honest it wasn't, but considering the time it came out and the fact that it's metroid on the DS, but I enjoyed it I think they should port Metroid Prime to the 3DS. The hardware is more than capable of handling it.
did it occur to anybody that now samus's D.N.A. is 20% human 20% chozo 20% metroid 20% X-parasite and 20% phazon? so shouldn't she look like a blonde bird with four fangs for teeth that glows blue and can mimic whatever she wants?
Well technically this is assuming that all of the different D.N.A that lies in her are equal, she could be 95% human; 2% chozo; 2% metroid, 2% X-parasite, and 1% phazon. This was just an example, the main point is that she could still be like over 90 percent human and the rest could just be small amounts.
The Metroid Project There IS a cool little detail in this game. In the end game before going to the phazon planet, if you put on the scan visor, stand right in front of a wall and have the correct lighting, you can see Samus' reflection on her visor. Her face is ALL fucked up. Her eyes glowing blue unaturally and blue root-like vains all over her face.
Well it can be assumed that her Metroid DNA likely consumed the SA-X in its entirity, allowing her to take back what was essentially her own genes which allowed her to either stabalise her condition at the time or develop a mutagen that altered her Metroid-like anatomy.
It was said that Gandrayda died. She had a lot of potential but not a lot of brains. Seriously, there was nothing stopping her from using Samus' form where Samus had a fully upgraded Gravity Suit.
Ahh finger cramps...you will forever be apart of my life...for as long as I play that game. In all seriousness, I REALLY loves Prime Hunters! Even though some parts of the game where serious BS, (mainly that stupid eyeball boss fight!) I had a fun time playing it!
To be honest, I always found the motion controls to be perfect in this game. It doesn't feel like a gimmick to me, it really just felt like taking direct control of Samus arms. Sure the twist and pull switches are a little silly, but they don't intrude too much and aren't cumbersome so it's just a little extra immersion that I found really cool the first time I played. And I usually HATE motion controls.
Corruption was my first Metroid game. It wasn't until I got to Bryo where I thought, "Awesome!" The world looked so good. I got lost alot though, (no Internet to help me out either) but figuring out where to go next made the game so much better for me. This game got me into Metroid and is one of my favorite franchises. Screw Federation Force though.
my first was super Metroid. played it on the original super Nintendo, when I was around 4 to 7 years old, it was also one of the first games I ever played. my mom had an original copy and console, in fact we still have it, but mom wont let me boot it up, and I'm 16 btw. my second Metroid was zero mission, played that alot, then corruption.
I don't think Nintendo should be making easier games to get casuals interested in their ip's. It really ruins the appeal of the game in the first place. Dark Souls really drives this home.
First of all, thank you Johnny for recommending the trilogy edition near the end. I bought it last January and hold no regrets. I think the it may have only been the Collector's Edition that's supposed to be expensive, because I just have the normal one and that cost me only about $50. One last thing, are you planning on doing any more Then and Now's in the future, because I think this would be a good series to revisit.
Golden Yoshi I know he wouldn't do a CoD marathon, but if he did, it would be either an April Fools Joke or some fanboys of the series tie him up, lock him up in a room with an Xbox 360 and demand him to review the series with I think Gligar13vids would do

Maybe she is only mimicking her former self and that's why she still looks the way she does.
Mad Scientist Well the Phazon is gone by the time you get to Fusion so...
"Metroid Prime 3, the last in the Prime series"
Until 2018
Nope
Until 2025
It was said that Gandrayda died. She had a lot of potential but not a lot of brains. Seriously, there was nothing stopping her from using Samus' form where Samus had a fully upgraded Gravity Suit.
"Yeah turns out she never died in the first place don't you just love that."
*looks over at the x-parasite being alive in Dread*
You know it
when the skype call noise went off I thought that was my skype lol
Also me lol
same
Prime Hunters was actually my first Metroid game, sure it hurt my fingers like mad, but I still had fun
My first Metroid game was Metroid Prime
Ahh finger cramps...you will forever be apart of my life...for as long as I play that game. In all seriousness, I REALLY loves Prime Hunters! Even though some parts of the game where serious BS, (mainly that stupid eyeball boss fight!) I had a fun time playing it!
I recently found a copy of Prime Trilogy used for $50. I grabbed it as quick as possible. Just finished replaying Prime 1 in under 6 hours
Aye same! Did the exact same thing for xenoblade
I feel like I’m more eager to see you cover the prime trilogy again, than to hear the release date for Prime 4.
Imagine prime 4 comes out next year 13 years from this video
Professor Oak: "You were close."
Metroid Prime 4 will be released in 2025
No longer a trilogy.
Are you ready for the 4? Here we fucking go, or at least in 2018
@ArtBuffalo It was a Trilogy with 1, 2 and 3... it is in the blasted name! XD
Wonder if he hates kid Icarus uprising
"In August 2007, Retro Studios released Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the final game in the Prime series."
*WELL YOU SEE, E3 2017 JUST HAPPENED...*
Are you also bingewatching his metroid reviews after the reveal?
AsianTheDomination Who isn't?
Still waiting
Still waiting
Samus must've destroyed her index finger from all that firing, it must look like a monstrosity.
Normal People: "Man, I'm having a rough time. My job is killing me."
Me: "Just use Hyper Mode"
Dale Stoddard truer words have never been said, take that all of you 2 echoes plebs git gud
NO johnny killed SCREW ATTACK now there will never be another Death Battle
No not death battle that's the best show ever that is about battles even hunger games is not better

Really what is it
wesly martinez A show where two fictional characters duke it out.
It took you 3 days to answer that wow.
holy shit that old skype call noise
RIP Screw Attack gag.
I find the little gags in these older videos & in the Super Gaming Bros videos hilarious.
Ha, how much will you the trilogy cost in a few years. 20 bucks on the virtual console John. Twenty bucks
I much prefer the PED Suit near the end of the game over any other suit in the series.
ImDemonAlchemist Phazon and Light suits for me
Sean Taylor Those are both awesome, but I just love the colors and look of the corrupted PED suit.
ImDemonAlchemist I like the death spikes on the light suit :P
First of all, thank you Johnny for recommending the trilogy edition near the end. I bought it last January and hold no regrets. I think the it may have only been the Collector's Edition that's supposed to be expensive, because I just have the normal one and that cost me only about $50. One last thing, are you planning on doing any more Then and Now's in the future, because I think this would be a good series to revisit.
4:30 He DOES realize that he could put it in another case, right?
We’re so back
RIP screw attack shout
*dies at **16:05*
Who here checked their Skype?

I never heard a Skype alarm before this. I always thought it was metroid sound because it sounds like something from a metroid game
***** wow...
It's only because I don't have a skype account and at the time of first viewing I didn't know anyone who did.
***** lol
Normal Difficulty : You have hyper mode
Hypermode difficulty : YOU NEED HYPERMODE!!!
*Sylux* is also the last sticker I need to get in Brawl.
I'll laugh if he actually did a CoD marathon
Golden Yoshi just like Mario...
Giordan Diodato if that were true, then he wouldn't have reviewed the Super Mario series.
Golden Yoshi I know he wouldn't do a CoD marathon, but if he did, it would be either an April Fools Joke or some fanboys of the series tie him up, lock him up in a room with an Xbox 360 and demand him to review the series with I think Gligar13vids would do
Correction, all Mario games after Galaxy were the same
vocalist92 And there's nothing wrong with consistency.
I'm here cause of Metroid 4 reveal
lol
Watch this video!
AGAIN!
AGAIN!
AGAIN! (in 2017)
"God only knows how much this game will cost in a few years"
Oh the wonders of the Wii U virtual console...
The Shooting the Screw Attack joke is really fitting now that Death Battle separated and went with Rooster Teeth.
