- In this video, I will show you a trick to make rebuilding the caliper on your E46 much easier. This video will actually apply to most calipers on most cars.

Thanks for this video, spent hours fiddling with these and got it done so fast with this method
Happy to help.
I was hoping you were going to show me how to fit the rubber boot onto the caliper of my 2004 E 46 330 ci, but it would appear on my car the caliper, an ATE caliper, has a completely different kind of fitment for the boot. On my car the boot has a metal reinforcement ring built into the edge of the rubber boot that fits onto a lip on the outside of the piston bore, and is so tight after 4 hours trying to get it to fit I've come to the conclusion that only a special tool and some kind of press will enable it to fit. So be warned not every BMW of the same year and model is the same. Thank you for your ingenious method of fitting the rubber boot on your car.
That's weird. I wouldn't expect the 325 and 330 to have a different caliper. Thanks for the information.
It took me real long also, but you have to work it in. It will keep popping out but eventually I managed to fit it, took me easily an hour for both. I thought also of a circular mount tool, but didn't have the right size tube to fit it perfectly. TIS suggests to put the dust boot on the caliper first and then, by blowing compressed air in the hudraulic line, stretch the boot while inserting the piston 🫨 it worked for me also that way, although last year when rebuilding I did it differently
Compressed air is a good tip.
Slide the outer seal over the piston then slide the piston into the hole, takes 10 mins to do the pair pal.
I’ve seen some people takes hours doing this!!😂😂
Can I ask, did you run out of paint as the whole caliper isn’t painted for some reason🤔
Didn’t want to go through the trouble of painting the rear of the caliper. Actually didn’t expect it to last. It was my daughter’s idea, her car. I thought the paint would peel off after the first wash but go figure it’s still holding strong.
@@JRsGarage it will last if done correctly just like the front!👌
