Customer service! I’m an American living in Germany ( close to the French border). My German husband couldn’t believe the customer service we received in the United States while visiting. I, on the other hand, couldn’t believe the lack of customer service here in Germany!

After 15 years in France I’m immune to rudeness, ferocity, aggressions, dog poo 💩 now. When I go back to visit Canada takes me several days/week to slow down, calm down be nicer put the “Parisienne” away until I land in CDG😂
Discroll's is the berry brand you are referring to. This California based company is partnering with growers in Ontario & Quebec to farm berries year round in green houses and other formats. The goal is to improve supply, reduce transportation costs and taste. I agree for the most part the berries lack taste. Bananas are a good example how travel time impacts the quality. They are harvested way to soon to deal with the transportation time required. The farmland that had once grew peaches, plums, pears etc have been repurpsed to wine grapes or housing developments. Fun fact...peeps in Ontario consume twice the amount of fruit and veg per capita than Americans.

You must remember that Paris is very old compared to Toronto….that is why the street are small in Paris et ….

I agree with the concept of it being weird having all sorts of fruits at all times of the year regardless of season... and yet it's the same here in the US! I didn't understand that strawberries weren't realistically supposed to be available 365 days a year until well into adulthood. Further, I imagine a lot of people here in the US (myself included) would be hard-pressed to answer "What fruits/veg SHOULD be in season right now?" because we didn't learn it growing by observing what comes in and out of the stores. I learned more about what should grow in what seasons from playing Stardew Valley 🤣

ialso live in Frence. I brought back Ketchup chips from Toronto when I was visiting my family and my friends here loved them. Apparently they have ketchup chips in Lebanon. But I will say that we do have cesar salad dressing in France. Thank goodness.
It's a central vacuum system. I have one, and the main purpose is all dust ( etc) ends up outside ( typically in your garage) in a container that you empty. It really cuts down on dust, but I agree that the hose is long and heavy.
Please post some of your homemade sauce recipes. Your other recipes are so delicious. I love hearing about the differences between Canada and France.

I live in California and although we have fruit out of season all year, it never tastes the same as when it is the actual season for it. Most fruits out of season are imported to the U.S. (even to California) from Mexico with the majority imported from Chile. Also the variety of fruit is different, the strawberries you have in France are not the same variety as is grown here in California, very different size, shape, flesh to water content profile, sugar ratio etc. Soil has much to do with flavor and as Anthony Bourdain once stated that the reason everything fruit and vegetable tastes better in France because of all the dead Romans in the soil....a joke but who knows, maybe it's true! LOL!
US packaging is larger Than Canada...everything here in the US is super sized!!! Euro is smaller for sure.....What I miss is "oregano flavored chips" from Greece & the chocolate bars......and of course the REAL Greek yogurt!!!!! you just cannot get outside of Greece. The traffic in Athens is just as bad as NYC & Toronto doesn't compare to either one..they do not have the population density per square mile
Awesome video!!I have to say that I disagree with you Arielle with your rationale about why more people wear jerseys at games, it’s not just that the stakes are larger with leagues being larger than in France but there is a cultural difference around sports in Canada, and especially the US (more so than in Canada). People will wear team colours even for municipal teams like junior kids sport leagues in Ontario! I think Jean was right on this one, there is a difference and it goes beyond leagues being larger and having larger stakes in Canada. There is a cultural difference in the approach to sports!

I just discovered your channel. Very much enjoying the content. It also resonates with us because our oldest daughter moved from Toronto to the UK 15 years ago. She married a local. They are moving to 🇨🇦 sometime next year. They are currently working through the paperwork. Our daughter said it was time to return home. Her English hubby is excited. He ❤ 🇨🇦. As it pertains to public transport, Toronto will never match Paris. As per Costco, those Que Pesa nacho chips are made in B.C. then shipped all da way to Paris. Shocking.

As a BC Canadian, I can help with the awareness and the regulations! Europe overall has high standards due to your population density. It is all about the 'why'.

That was so much fun! Jean did a good job. We just take for granted things in our countries that are shocking to people who visit us from other countries. A few years ago when I visited France for the first time (didn’t include Paris) I was looking for a restroom and was directed to one where I had to pay to use it. When I went in I was horrified because it was the kind where you have to squat. Well, needless to say I went to a cafe and had a coffee so I could use theirs!

Interesting. In Canada there is also Ketchum sauce powder you can sprinkle on plain chips. Eeks. And in the IS the selection and variety of premade food sauces cookies and beverages is huge compared Canada.

I'm British and when I go to the USA and the cashier is taking so long being nice and attentive to their customers, I get so annoyed and have to make sure my face doesn't show my inside rage. I don't know why I'm getting annoyed because I'm on vacation and not in a hurry to get anywhere. In the UK, I am used to an unenthused, minimum waged person who treats me like I've just ran over their family pet and for some weird reason I take no issue with that 😄

It depends in the UK. A lot of cashiers in Scotland are lovely.
I have often experienced shop assistants going out of their way to help or find something.
And I remember when I was caring for my terminally ill mum in Glasgow, which can be quite isolating of course, two shop workers (one in a pharmacy and a cashier in a supermarket) made my day.
We only interacted for a few minutes but I was very grateful for their genuine warmth. I still remember it today.
(And only one of them knew my situation).
@@leenieledejo6849I’m sure most cashiers in the Uk are nice. I was a terrible cashier, I was fast a checking out the goods, but I had a face like a rainy Monday morning permanently plastered on.

Yes ! It’s very true that Quebec does have similarities with France and Europe in general ☺️
When I was in Italy the cars were very small ( I guess to negotiate the small roads) and they were all stuffed together with bumpers touching. We were shocked. As you know if someone did that in Canada, you would get punched in the nose!!

About the sports jerseys...I think more people in US and Canada actually wear sports team clothes on the streets in their daily lives vs French people? So the jerseys are worth the cost and accessible at game time?
VERY TRUE ! it’s not common at all in France to wear a sport jersey as “normal” clothes

Jean looks very handsome in his flannel shirt and he is so sweet to wear it. It was my understanding that Parisians would never wear flannel shirts, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, sport team shirts, logos, leggings in public, etc. Hopefully you will clarify this in one of your videos. I loved this video. I smiled the entire time.
Hahahaha YES all of that about fashion is very true… i wear leggings in Paris and I stick out like a sore thumb 😂 the flannel shirt as well is not something men wear here in Paris, but jean loves to rep Canadian style 😉

It depends. I have met rude ones but most have been lovely (I live in Paris so admittedly I have low expectations lol).
Is it possible that French people don’t like to spend their money on things like jerseys, that you can only wear to one activity?
Mon cher Jean, before you commit to moving to Toronto, please live there for a few months while keeping a place to return to in Paris. The North American mercantile society has no substance and is full of fake choices. Also, only compare La Rochelle to a Canadian city its size, like Sarnia for example. If you experienced the soul-crushing human wasteland that is small-town Canada, you'd change your mind. Even when factoring Parisians, I'd pick the City of Light over Terrorto.

When you compare traffic in TORONTO TO PARIS…. Thats not the same…….You should compare traffic in Paris to New York City…..These cities are almost equal…….and having lived in both cities I can tell you…. New York is still much worse.

You shouldn’t say one culture is more shocking than another :) everyone can have and share their own experiences of culture shock no matter where they are. Keep an open mind !
