I still believe that the Elemental Gems in the Unova Region are the nowaday remnants of old Tera Crystals.
Riddle leaks indicate that the true origin of the crystals will not be explained in the second dlc but future games wich are almost certainly the gen 5 remix basically bw 2.5

Briar says that she’s looking to bring terastalization to other regions so maybe it’s a hint that it will be brought to Unova when we revisit.
"If I can just get the Terastal phenomenon to reliably occur in regions other than Paldea, that should bring me one step closer to Terapagos..." is the actual quote which has crazy implications for terastalization and Terapagos

Fun fact, in japanese ww2 propaganda they used the momotaro fable imagery to represent the usa as the oni island and the japanese army as momotaro.
That is the biggest possible connection to ogerpon being from unima togheter with the crystals

Wild theory: Ogrepon might have been originally a swadloon before a certain wish granting Pokemon caused it’s form to change

looool there's def something there with the crystals in the museum, and I think that's part of why they chose to connect Paldea with Unova, but Ogerpon is absolutely a Japanese pokemon. it's an oni wearing tabi, geta, and haori (the "poncho"). the "foreign land" that Ogerpon and her trainer came from likely just meant "not local to Kitakami". tbh, I'd consider Hoenn and Hisui/Sinnoh to be "foreign lands" to Kitakami, esp in ancient times. Hisui takes place specifically when Japan was forcefully united, so if this took place at the same time, Hisui (Hokkaido) literally WAS a foreign land to the rest of Japan until it too was colonized. as well, the masks were explicitly made by Keiran and Carmine's ancestor. even ignoring the big difference in cultural design of the mask in Unova, Ogerpon's masks never left Kitakami. you might could argue that that same ancestor made more masks and THOSE masks could have ended up in other places, but it's still clearly not a Japanese style mask. but it is a museum, so there's no reason that mask HAS to be related. my expectation, is if we do get a Legends: Unova game that mask's cultural significance will be shown, likely by indigenous characters living in the old kingdom of Unova.
it's an interesting catch, but I think Clay and the crystals are the interesting connection here, not Ogerpon and her very Japanese clothes lol
I see so many people act like the crystals in the Driftveil hotels are Tera Crystals but unfortunately, Black 2 & White 2 state that there are emeralds found from Clay's mining operations which caused business to boom in rhe town which is why the town has see significant developments in it's high class lifestyles for it's citizens such as the development of the PWT being built

My biggest issue with the traveler being AZ is that the loyal three killed him. They say they attacked him, but I'm pretty sure they implied that the loyal three straight up killed that guy like how Ogerpon in a fit of anger and rage attacked the loyal three and killed them in revenge for its friend.
Implied still does not confirm something 100%, albeit somewhat close. Do they even mention Ogrepon finding a body?

I've been thinking, why are the fish populous that they are? Magicarp practically everywhere in a few regions, which implies their natural predators aren't numerous enough to keep their numbers. As for Gyrados's inspiration, Gaijin Goombah did a recent video over on his channel explaining how Gyrados, and Mega Gyrados, have the typings that it does, and also why Mega Gyrados doesn't have the Dragon typing and instead has the Dark typing.
The crystals fail the most basic test of not being hexagonal.
I think the Loyal 3 are from Unova. Could the things in the museum be things they’ve stolen and brought there in a different version of the multiverse?
How awful would it be if Ogrepon and trainer are also from Unova, fleeing from the Loyal 3 only to have the Loyal 3 follow them to Kitakami? Poor ogre baby! 🥺 (I don’t think there’s evidence for that really though; would just make it extra sad.)

I personally would disregard the connections between the masks and ogrepon because those masks were a gift from a kitakami mask maker, not something ogrepon is born with like farfetch'd and it's leak
the mask in the museum is also heavily styled after Polynesian masks as opposed to the ones that Ogrepon wears
Just a thought to add to the evidence pile: The ogrepon myth is loosly based on the Momotaro myth, in which the peach boy and his 3 animal friends travel to an ogre island to defeat them.
In the teal mask, you could assume that Kitakami would stand in for the Ogre Island. However, if you take the historical context of the momotaro myth, Ogre Island is essentially America. So Unova would make sense for Ogrepons OG home

Tbf, Ogerpon coming from Unova and having a connection with the Wellspring Cave does explain why Wellspring Cave has like no remarkable interaction, like a Legendary in the subfloor area
Yes, it is highly likely that Tera Shards can exist in other regions, as Terapagos could have existed during the Pokeworld's version of Pangea, meaning it is either a member of The Legendary Egg Group or a direct descendant of Arceus.
However, as time went on and the continants split, the connection into the regions, Terapagos only had access to two spots for some reasons (Paldea and Kitakami), this could be due to war and Eternatus.
Those could explain why Tera Crystals exist in other regions and why they can't Tera Pokemon, but could have helped create other mechanics, like Elemental Gems and Mega Stones as part of a way for the energy to evolve a long with the region.
It's possible evolution stones are also an evolution of Tera energy, (with the exception of Moon Stones) absorbing the energy of fire/water/nature/lightning or a form of electrical energy/sun to create the stones.
Eevee evolves with 5 of these stones, while needing the sun to evolve into Espeon.
The Tera energy evolution was a direct response to Terapagos being unable to connect to the energy.
As for the mask, since I don't remember festivals in Unova, then it's part of either an artefact trade or was a gift, as I don't remember Ogrepon or their partner having masks before, as it was stated the ancestor of Kierian made the masks, the names were most likely given by Ogrepin partner as reminders of his homeland.
These were some clever thinking & connections drawn. If they're unintentional or just coicindental, they wouldnt be bad as just headcanons.
I believe some gaps in this theory can be filled in with information I got from Lockstin's video on Sawk and Throh's origins. Sawk, Throh and Ogerpon are all based on Oni. Ogerpon specifically being from the Momotaro story about a boy befriending a dog, a pheasant and a monkey and fighting the evil oni. In WWII the story was used as propaganda and the oni were symbols to represent America. Hence Sawk and Throh being from Unova, and hence Ogerpon's connection to Unova also.

My theory is that Unova was once much larger but split the USA did for the Civil War. But instead of reuniting at the end of the war they stayed separate and that is were ogerpon is from

You know the mask in the cutscene where you see the man making orgerpons mask theres a mask that looks like a pikachu. Thats a reference to majoras mask where the happy mask sailsman has an identical mask which at the time we thought was a reference to pokemon but now we see it in kitakama. Is kitikama in termina?

Personally, I think Ogerpon comes from Area Zero, while her trainer is AZ. And I’ve held that theory since first playing through The Teal Mask.
That would be interesting, and would mean AZ hopped timelines.

Her trainer is Alder and he brought her over from Hisui. Her fire mask resembles Alder's hair and it was probably his Ursaluna that tried following them from Hisui.
But that looked more like Nimbasa city, it had a Ferris wheel.
This is honestly a great theory & makes perfect sense ( I get that there isn't enough evidence but I feel like you're being humble & true green is downplaying it a bit :/
This is the perfect kind of seeds/breadcrumbs from past games that Game Freak probably uses to do like “built in” world building/retcon as they continue to add the lure
Once the foundation is laid, it probably makes it easier for them to expand on lure so when they plan for future games & the directions to go in these things help tie everything together in hindsight
I think in time you might be proven right, Game Freak didn’t build up Unova for years & pick it for the DLC for no reason, especially after launching the legends concept off the strength of the sinnoh anticipation (Gen4), Gen 5 would be next c

No they weren't from Unova. Ogerpon is not a gen 5 pokemon. I don't believe Legends Unova will happen and i hope it doesn't. Next years game probably isn't Unova related. The identity of the man is not really important to be honest. All fans needed to know is that Ogerpon came with him to Kitakami and he had died off screen.
