Making Flaky All-Butter Pie Crust With Sourdough Discard

  • This Sourdough Pie Crust recipe is easy to make with your sourdough discard. Quick to put together, it can be made a couple of hours, up to 4 days in advance. Great for sweet or savory pies. We use King Arthur brand flour, but any quality flour will make a delicious sourdough pie crust. Vegan butter can be substituted for regular dairy butter.
    I forgot to mention in the video, if your dough is too dry when you are drying to bring it together, add 1 teaspoon of ice water to help hydrate it. Don't add too much!!

    Hi everyone! Again, I'm sorry for the lower quality of the last two videos. We had a very tragic accident happen in our family and the last few weeks have been hard to concentrate and get a lot of work done. I'm pushing through and hopefully this video is helpful for you!

      Hope you’re ok now and your family is doing well. I had an accident last year as well, and my hand and ankle are injured. It stopped me from baking for a year now. I love watching your videos as they brought me comfort. I used to bake for my mom but she’s since passed away. Hope you’re well. I’m typing with one finger here

    This is great! I can only do so much with my discard and throwing it out feels like such a waste but this uses a good portion.... so-

    I think your videos have been great and I am so glad to have found your channel! I had given up on sourdough a couple of years ago. Recently a friend told me about your site and shares some sourdough starter with me! I've been baking the country loaf weekly ever since. My family loves all the recipes!! We are loving the cinnamon rolls, scones, crackers, and bread. Thank you for sharing all your expertise!!

    Thank you for this. I have IBS but I can eat sourdough bread, so this will be good to find out if I can also eat sourdough pastry without it affecting my tummy.

    Another awesome one to try! Thank you! I love that we can freeze this for later use... i try not to bake a lot in the summer, so being able to use my discard daily, and make crusts to use this winter, is going to be great!!

    Sorry to hear you and your family are going through a rough patch. I hope the best to you all. I enjoy your videos and your easy style of instruction. Can you clarify if the starter (that would typically be tossed out) needs to be a particular day of fermenting before turned into something else, like your pie crust or cookies? Love the idea of using that starter some how. Thank you in advance!

      @@OremusFarm I recently bought a large anchor hocking jar with glass lid for my flour since I use it daily. Walmart and priced very well.

    I wish that you had made it more clear you need to double the recipe for a top and bottom crust lol, I went through the process the first time, after an hour and rereading the recipe on the site, it said to double the recipe. your video does trickery to show both crusts out of nowhere
