Hey Mike, your video really struck a cord with me. I’m currently struggling a bit with staying positive admits stressing out about my Master’s thesis while trying to balance work and life. And, honestly, during the past few months there hasn’t been much of any balance to speak of. Admits all that, your video brought a lot of joy to my day and came just at the right moment for me. My positive reaction to your video is probably also influenced by the fact that I can relate to many of the points you talked about. I, too, enjoy waking up to Philips Hue lights, I received a SteamDeck last week, my AppleWatch is always on my wrist etc. etc. So, tomorrow I will start the day with a morning walk. I bet both my mind and body will thank me - and so will the rings on my AppleWatch. 😉 And while I am typing this I am already thinking about implementing some of the other things you talked about and the ideas your video has sparked in my mind. I genuinely thank you for your video and hope you’re having a great evening. All the best from Germany

@@John_Doe_6969 „@ichhasserechts“ Einen sehr guten und korrekten UA-cam-Accountname hast du dir ausgesucht. Hey Mo, how're you doing man? Ah dude, I can only imagine the stress you're going through. My brother in law is doing his masters at the moment and it's taking a big tole on him, such an intense thing to do...but Im sure you're smashing it mate. You'll have that masters cracked in no time and will be so hyped to have it done. Keep it up mate! So glad that this silly video helped out a little. Made me super happy to read that 😄 Ah man honestly the morning walks are such a game changer. I know it can be tricky to get into the habit, especially when it's cold and dark in the mornings but once you get into the swing of going everyday it honestly does wonders for you. And like you say...fill those rings at the same time 😏 Thanks so much for taking the time to comment mate, appreciate ya ⭐ Have a great day my man
This is the second time I've watched one of your videos and was shocked when I realized you have less than 600k subs. When you mentioned Hanna and the Steam Deck, I remembered that from before. I hope you grow more. You're an excellent creator, and the polish in your videos is probably like the top 10% on UA-cam.
Ah thank you man, thats very very kind of you 😄 Honestly having a blast being a small channel atm. Hitting 7k is honestly more than I ever thought id achieve this year. So grateful. Thanks for being so nice dude, really appreciate it 😊 Hope you have a great day!
Here to show love to your non-Steam Deck content too! I like your vibes. I’m usually picky with my subs as I don’t want to get too sidetracked by things I don’t care about in life, but you have this great uplifting energy so it was an easy choice for me :)
Hey dude! Ahh thank you so much. Im always weary that a lot of people have subbed for the steam deck content, but seeing people like you show up for these other ones really means a lot. Thank you mate 🙏 Also thank you for being so kind, you have no idea how happy it makes me to know people are enjoying the videos and its having some kind of uplifting effect 😊 Thank you again. Hope you're having a great day may man

Thank you mate! Very kind of you 😊 Really glad it's coming across like that as this video took me quite awhile hahaha. So worth it when its recognised though, thank you 😊
I love your videos mate, just a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I'll try to get back to using the kindle more. I got rid of the smartwatch and treated me to a nice Seiko 5, as I was feeling a little chained to the phone and feeling too guilty whenever I couldn't reach the objectives. Also it was getting the fun out of it and just chasing the number in itself. With a little one it's being very difficult to find the time to properly exercise lately, but I think it will get better. Cheers from Italy

Ah man, so so humbled by this 🙏 So glad you're enjoying the videos dude 😄 Thank you so much for taking the time to comment something so kind, I really appreicte it. Hope you have great day dude
Aww I’ve had that sun lamp since high school. It saved my butt when I moved from Los Angeles to Edinburgh for college. It’s amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Agreed! Mine's a literally decade old Philips one, had to replace the adapter as it got a nasty coil-whine, the LEDs aren't as bright anymore and it has some weird firmware quirks but it still works and helps me wake up. I do use my semi-smart-semi-sport-semi-dumb weird watch as a backup alarm as I prefer standard beeps over it's birds or radio.
I love the production quality and, more importantly, the general vibes of your videos. The algorithm kindly introduced me to you when I was waiting for my deck, but I'll stick around for this other stuff.
I couldn't agree more about the Philips Wakeup light. I've used it for about 10 years now and it's a game changer. No more being jarred awake. I usually wake up before the gentle alarm music goes off. Highly Recommend.
For me, my m1 pro macbook is my go-to work device for when I need to write, edit videos, design documentation or have meetings - it's such a great device that's fast and incredibly power efficient. I WAS going to build a new desktop rig, but you might have convinced me to get the SteamDeck instead as that will be more convenient for gaming (although I will miss the VFX/3D capabilities of a desktop).
Yessss mate, could not agree with you more. My M1 pro MacBook was so nearly on this list for this exact reason. Makes everyday tasks like video editing and music production an absolute breeze, almost like theres no restrictions whatsoever. Such a game changer! Oooooo you should deffo think about it! I've seen a lot of people who have used the steam deck as a main pc and it seems to work great. Lemme know of you ever give that a go! Hope you're doing well my man 🙏
I’m 100% with you on the kindle recommendation. I’ve been using one for probably a solid decade at this point and I use mine all the time. For me, the biggest thing is having a separate device that intentionally doesn’t have apps or do anything other than reading. I need that in order to avoid getting distracted while reading. I also love that you can borrow ebooks for free from a library app like Libby or Overdrive (here in the states, anyway). Unlike phones or other gadgets, there’s no need to upgrade them very often either. I used my last one for 8-10 years before upgrading to the new Paperwhite last year. $100 over the course of 10 years works out to less than a dollar a month over its lifetime, which is a no brainer for me. It’s also crazy how long the battery lasts. I literally charge it like once a month, if that. Like you said, you can still get a lot of these benefits from your local library with physical books, but if you have a little bit of money and like to read, the convenience and accessibility is super nice.
Yes dude! Such a game changer isn't it? You make some great points, had no idea you can borrow books from library apps! Thats insane, going to check if thats available in the uk. But yeah, such a game changer. Getting one for Hannah for Christmas as she won't stop using mine
Dude, your content is outstanding. Interesting topics, polished presentation, relaxed, relatable, friendly and humourous style, great pacing and video length, considerate of the “messages” you’re conveying, don’t harp on begging for likes and subs, and you come across as just a really decent human but you’re super humble about it. Great video again. I would love to see and hear about some of your favorite books. I've really gotten back into reading the past few years. I love my kindle as well. Total game changer. I love being able to read in bed after my wife has already gone to sleep with no weird book lights or anything like that.
Thank you dude! Really appreciate it 😄 Ah man I would LOVE to make a video about my favourite books, if people would enjoy that i'll deffo do it! Yesss you know, I'm always up later than Hannah so am always reading in the dark so the kindle is perfect for that. Have a great day man

Ah dude thank you SO SO much 🙏 Honestly means the world mate, really appreciate it. Ahh thank you for pointing this out! We had a little hiccup with our square space sub but got it sorted now haha. Hope you're having a great day man
Really appreciate your commentary on these things I own a version of some of them but there are things I've been considering like the light alarm and a kindle. It was nice to hear your opinion, cheers! ☕️
the steam deck is a huge love of mine and i read my kindle daily i even bought a backup refurb one as its the one thing i cant be without, also recently i got a blood glucose tracker i wear on my arm and as a diabetic it is great.
I share very similar view on the tech stuff. I own Kindle since 2012 and it made me read 10+ books per year by just doing it when commuting to work. After pandemic hit I lost interest in reading beacause I was not commuting. I slowly realised I missed reading so much that now I'm reading even more : 30+ books per year and hit 52 in 2021 :). Apple watch also made me excersice more often and steam deck showed me that PC gaming can still be fun. Thanks for the video. I will concider this philips light as it's brilliant idea.
Stumbled upon your channel about a week ago researching the Steam Deck (think I will be ordering one soon!!!) and your videos are awesome! For real making me lol and want to hop across the pond to hang with you. Keep up the good work!!
You make me a happy person! 😌came across your videos when looking for steam deck content to validate the feelings my deck was giving me. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll be up there with the big content creators in no time. Very relatable honest stuff with a good sprinkle of humour. Wish you all the best for 2023 mate! 👍🏽
Ah man thats so kind of you, thank you so much! 😄 So glad you're enjoying the videos dude. Thanks for being here and taking the time to write such a nice comment. Have a great day my man!
Hey Mike, just wanted to say that 1. Your channel is great and 2. This video really helped make a decision to re-focus on my mental health again. So thank you! ✌🏻❤️
Hey man! How're you doing? Ahh thank you mate, that means a lot, so glad you're enjoying the videos. And even more glad you've made the decision to refocus on your mental health. I hope you're doing okay 🙏 Have a great day mate
I absolutely love the content you are creating and the stuff you are doing in life in general. I will make a conscious effort to use the Amazon Smile link, for my Amazon purchases going forward. Keep up the awesome work mate. 🙂
Hey Mike, definitely agree with the overall message of the video. These are excellent recommendations. Speaking of recommendations... I know you have an insane and constantly growing list of games people demand you play on the Steam Deck, but I just started Chained Echoes and I'm really loving it...
Oh also, a game changer for my wife and me in relation to the kindle is... libraries... Many libraries offer the option to "borrow" digital copies of books and some libraries have a better selection than others. You may find that your local library has a decent selection and you can save yourself a lot of money (even though kindle books are super cheap usually anyway). I try not to hoard stuff and borrowing digital books really helps.
Also also, I think many people's conception of exercise and fitness is a punitive one, in that we think exercise doesn't count unless its gruelling, almost as if we're punishing ourselves with painful tasks for not exercising. But fitness and exercise come in many fun, playful forms like dancing, hiking, aerial arts, acrobatics, climbing, and my personal favorite is parkour. Most people associate parkour with crazy rooftop jumps and impossibly dangerous stunts, but that's really only one extreme end of the spectrum. Parkour for the average person involves playing games, learning to balance, vault moderately sized obstacles, improve strength, coordination, etc. It's a very playful and explorative way to approach physical exercise.
Hey Eric! How're you doing man? Thanks for coming back 😄 oh sick! I've just looked it up and the game looks BEAUTIFUL! Deffo going on my to play list. Currently playing the crisis core remake but that could come after 😏 Ah yeah! I just saw someone else comment about libraries, I had no idea that was a thing for kindle, thanks so much for letting me know. I'll absolutely take advantage of that if it's available in the uk. Also, could not agree more with you on the exercise front. Really shouldn't have to be a matter of going to the gym or being a gruelling process. Whatever floats your boat and you find fun ya know? Love that your into parkour dude, you'll have to make some UA-cam videos about it and send em over 😄 Have a great day man!
Great video Mike! I have to admit that I like to buy new things every now and then, even when I really don´t need them. Right now, as a freelance worker, I´m trying to spend wisely only on things that really add value. Things like "I´m not gonna buy this gadget cause´ I can do almost the same with this other object I already have". Sometimes it´s hard but, as the proverb says, less is more.
Yay! Finally a new video! Missed it by a day cause i am currently covid positive 😢 your vid always manage to make me chuckle! 😂😂😂 I really need that wake up light!! And i didn’t know you are a reader!! Kindle is one of my fav tech item too! I hate seeing thick books, and it makes me feel lazy to finish it, with kindle, you don’t have to carry them thicc ass books around and don’t need to think about “ugh whys it still so much to read” xD By the way, i notice you are drifting away from “steam deck” focused youtuber idea. I totally support that. Even though many if not most of your subs are from your steam deck videos, please don’t feel burdened or forced to make steam deck videos! Just be yourself and create whatever you enjoy! ❤ much love 😊
Hey Rina! How're you doing? Thanks for coming back 😄 Sorry to hear you caught covid, I hope you're okay?? Ehy nice one! Such a game changer right? I honestly love mine so much. Ahh thank you so much for the support on non steam deck videos. Love making the videos on that topic, but don't want to tie myself down too much to a small niche. It may be best thing to do to grow the channel...but Im really not looking to be a big UA-camr, just really enjoy making videos and talking to cool people like you 😊 Thanks again for being so kind. Hope you have a great day
Maybe you didn't intend it to be but this video is already a better cool tech gift video than a lot of typical "cool tech gifts" videos from channels with higher subscriber counts. All of these items are practical and worthwhile. More importantly, you show and explain how useful they are to you and not just read from a sponsored script for dozens of products you've just used once and thrown in a drawer. Your steam deck review was my introduction to your channel, keep up the good work. To answer the question in the description: anc headphones, eReader, smartwatch, and portable charging bank.
Right!? I finished it a couple months back and it quickly became one of my favourite books. Murakami is just a master. I've read Norwegian wood too! Do you recommend any others by him?
@@mike.barnes other than those 2 I’ve only read 1Q84 which was pretty good, but it’s very long so I dropped it on a 3rd book. And thanks for the video, really considering buying an ebook now (or maybe an iPad) to start reading again
Most of the list is the same for me, but I don't have an e-Reader yet and use my phone and Steam Deck as a substitute, despite the backlit screens this works for me. My phone is also on my list, it is a 5 year old model I like the design of, still running Android 7 with a barebones set of consciously picked non-Google apps, making it a minimalistic tool that can still do everything I need with. I took a break from this for a few years, but soon I am getting into 3D-printing again, which I appreciated similarly before the maintenance of the old rubbish I had became too much of a burden. But what you said in the end is important, we don't need these gadgets to be happy, they only help but you have to seek fulfilling things to do yourself.
Oh my god dude it was MENTAL. But not gonna lie...I loved every second 😂 It was so messed up that I couldn't stop reading. Murakami is one crazy dude 😂
You could have plucked these thoughts from my own brain. I don't have a fitness tracker yet though so maybe I need to change that. Also part of the #SteamDeckBoiz now
Welcome to the Steam deck boiz 🥳 Glad you enjoyed the video bud! Deffo have a think about a fitness trackery thing, I held off for ages but absolutely love mine now!
Mr Mike Barnes. You are a bar steward. I'm going to have to get a kindle now. For ages I wanted to go back to a dumb phone ( Punkt MP02 is calling) but can't get away from banking apps and 2 factor authentication in certain situations. A watch might be a good compromise.
@@mike.barnes Check out Brian Alsruhe's pull up tips. He's a fine dude and crazy strong. Do as many regular pull-ups you can, then immediately do as many jumping pull-ups with slow negatives (4 or so seconds).
Hi, I really like your videos. And I want to send a latest UPTOHIGH brand M.2 Steam Deck Dock with SSD port for you to test. I sent you many emails. But have not receive any reply. Could you please reply me?
I would add to the kindle recommendation by specifically recommending the Kobo, primarily because even their cheapest model has direct library integration through overdrive, so it's the absolute easiest, sinplest thing to browse your local library's ebook selection, put things on hold, check them out, or return them early, ALL through the Kobo itself. Kobo ALSO lets you support partocipating local bookstores every time you make a purchase, so you don't have to decide between the convenience of ebooks or supporting your local book store. Can't recommend kobo enough! The one downside, and it's a pretty big one, is that if you listen to audiobooks, it WILL NOT sync your progress with the same Ebook, even if you buy them both from Kobo. I'm working my way through the Cosmere right now, and I very often switch between the two on my Kobo, but every time I've got to figure out where exactly I need to skip to to be where I'm at in the ebook or the audiobook, depending on which I'm switching to\from. Otherwise though? Absolutely adore this thing. I've got the Kobo Libra 2, and if you've got the scratch for it, I heartily recommend this model in particular, but do your own research and figure out what works best for you! (Also, because Kobo is a Japanese company, their manga selection is great, most of their products are EXACTLY the right size for manga pages, and the art still looks fantastic on the E-ink screen, so even if you only read manga, it can still be a fantastic resource!)
Oh no way! I've never heard of the Kobo, will deffo look into that though man thank you. Sounds amazing! Especially for reading manga 😏 Thanks for the suggestion my man!
What’s the best way to interact with you Mike on socials? Would love to pick up a steam deck but wish I could play Overwatch 2 or guarantee I could play the like of GTA6 or Diablo 4 in the future

Subbed :)
Thank you so much man! That really means a lot seeing as you're not into tech reviews 😄 Really appreciate ya dude
Lovely sentiment, as always, Mike. I've added T.I.M.E as my Amazon Smile donation, but FYI the charity website isn't working (says it has expired).
Thank you mate, glad I could help! 😄
the steam deck is a huge love of mine and i read my kindle daily i even bought a backup refurb one as its the one thing i cant be without, also recently i got a blood glucose tracker i wear on my arm and as a diabetic it is great.
I like your vibe, humor and smile/laugh
Too kind, thank you 😄
Love your content mate you can tell your a genuine good guy (no many left these days) keep up the good work 👍 👏
Thank you Patrick 🙏 Really appreciate it my man. Thanks for always coming back, really means a lot 😄
Another Barnes here. 👍 Great vid Mike!
Ehyy! Not many of us around 😄 Thank you dude 🙏
Ah thank you my man! Very kind 😄 Lets hang out in London some time ehy?
You make me a happy person! 😌came across your videos when looking for steam deck content to validate the feelings my deck was giving me. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll be up there with the big content creators in no time. Very relatable honest stuff with a good sprinkle of humour. Wish you all the best for 2023 mate! 👍🏽
Ah man thats so kind of you, thank you so much! 😄 So glad you're enjoying the videos dude. Thanks for being here and taking the time to write such a nice comment. Have a great day my man!
This is a fantastic idea for a video 👏🏼 absolutely love this
Thank you dude! 😄
Loving the vibe of the videos! Great choices btw!
I absolutely love the content you are creating and the stuff you are doing in life in general. I will make a conscious effort to use the Amazon Smile link, for my Amazon purchases going forward. Keep up the awesome work mate. 🙂
Great video Mike! Tons of good tips
Currently playing the crisis core remake but that could come after 😏
Ah yeah!
Love that your into parkour dude, you'll have to make some UA-cam videos about it and send em over 😄
Have a great day man!
Man i hate it so much that i dont get your vids on my fy page but im happy to See something New from you ^^
Great video Mike!
Hope you have a great day
Bro I love your humor, very entertaining!
Glad you’re enjoying man 😄
Loved the video and your sense of humor, well done!
Thanks so much Sharai, really appreciate it 😄 Subbed to your channel btw, great content!
Mike, you’ve done it again.
Ehyyy thank you man 😄 Really appreciate you coming back, hope you're doing good!
Well done mate 🖖😉👍❤
Love your videos man 👌🏾
Great video Mike !
A Beautiful Video with really things that helped you and are not useless the best buy for me was a big hardrive
Thank you dude! So glad you enjoyed it 😄 Yesss big hard drive is such a shout, could not get by without my 2TB SSD
@@mike.barnes Bro i love you videos especially about the Steam deck its crazy that you answered :)
Really interesting video, first time I've seen reasons for using a smart watch that make sense to me.
Thank you man! 😄
Hey man great channel
Thanks so much man! 😄
I take my midterms this week as a freshman but the only thing getting me through it is knowing I got a steam deck waiting for me on Christmas 🤣
Kafka on the shore is great btw
Loved this video bro
Thank you so much my man!
How messed up was Khafka on the Shore? Am I right?
Oh my god dude it was MENTAL. But not gonna lie...I loved every second 😂 It was so messed up that I couldn't stop reading. Murakami is one crazy dude 😂
Only you could make a video about Kindles amusing and watchable.
Hahahah thank you my man! 😄
Kafka on the shore!
Such a banger of a book right?!
Yes! My boy Nakata! 😭😭
I love this concept. Transparency in our products!
Little Simba/Rob cameo too!
Thank you dude! Hahaha you know, he's going to sneak into the videos every time I talk about TIME hahah
subscribed ^_^ more techporn content please lol
can you use the smile link in the US? i tried but ran into some errors
Ohhh thats a good point! I'll try and find out. Thank you so much for trying though man, thats incredible kind of you!
Why is this random guy so funny. Love the vids!
Thank you dude! 😄
Whats that game with the girl and the sword on the back?
Greatest channel😊
Another great video. You lose a few points though for being a BBC radio 2 fan 😉. Radio 6 is where it's at 😎👍
"I Trained to Do 10 Pullups and This Is What Happened" Do it! 😁
Hahahaha thank you man! I can currently manage about 5 but am struggling to get past that. Will check that video, thank you!
@@mike.barnes I was actually joking about how this could be your next video. BTW 5 is really good! 💪
@@mike.barnes Check out Brian Alsruhe's pull up tips. He's a fine dude and crazy strong.
Do as many regular pull-ups you can, then immediately do as many jumping pull-ups with slow negatives (4 or so seconds).
@@timeforgamesYT OHHH LOL! Sorry my bad! Next video - 'how I became the next liver king'
@@Woupsme Thank you dude! Will fo sho check that out
Hi, I really like your videos. And I want to send a latest UPTOHIGH brand M.2 Steam Deck Dock with SSD port for you to test. I sent you many emails. But have not receive any reply. Could you please reply me?
❤❤
Thanks for another great video Mike! But also... Apple Watch... UNSUB. Haha I kid of course. Cheers friend!
Thanks man! 😄 Hahahah I know right what APPLE FAN BOI SCUM do I think I am 🤣
What’s the best way to interact with you Mike on socials? Would love to pick up a steam deck but wish I could play Overwatch 2 or guarantee I could play the like of GTA6 or Diablo 4 in the future
Take a shot every time Mike says 'And for me'
AHAHAHAHA. We're getting drunk tonight bois 🥃
