    I'm from Illinois and I would never do anything like that. But, it's like saying if the guy was from Iowa all people from Iowa would do that. It don't matter where your from it's wrong.

    This is the Root River at the steelhead weir in Racine, that net is a violation of the law and a DNR, agent would have a field day with him and his buddy, but a lot of eastern European types have little regard for fish and game laws ( two of them once braced me, while I was fishing from the public pier in Racine close to the river mouth, informing me that I had to leave because I " was fishing in their spot, that they won in the lottery, and no one else could fish there" I called the DNR, and was informed that there is no such lottery and the two were just cheap thugs trying to intimidate me ( illegal) a warden showed up and arrested the two of them, and confiscated their gear!

    Though I live in Illinois and hate all the vitriol, that's aimed at us I grew up hunting and fishing in Wisconsin ( my grandfather's brother once the Chief of Police in Kimberly, had a place on Lake Poygan in Winnebago County where I spent summers from the time I was 5 until I was 18) and I have the utmost respect for their laws, I don't get up that way very often anymore, but when I do the antics of some of these highbinders drive me nuts!

    as a biologist I find it funny they make the season you are supposed to fish, the same season they won't really be eating. Fish can go months without eating if they aren't in mood. Why is everyone at same place in river anyway?

    • @Chuck-e7d
      @Chuck-e7d Місяць тому

      The low head dam concentrates all the fish in that area. They make the season at that time to protect the Salmon population and this is also the only time they are accessible to bank fisherman. Are you really a biologist?🤔

    • @ernestclements7398
      @ernestclements7398 3 дні тому

      There is a dam, and a fish weir, that the Wisconsin DNR uses to collect salmon and steelhead eggs, to raise in their hatcheries and share the resulting fish with other states and their own restocking program at that spot, there is also a fish ladder there, ( that used to have a large viewing window but the local punk vandals destroyed that, and there's no money to restore it) it's an interesting process to watch the fish are caught off of the ladder milked for their eggs, and milt, and any fish showing signs of disease are culled out the eggs and milt are mixed in large stainless steel bowls and placed into aerated containers for transport to the hatcheries, then the fish that are not culled are placed into a tube, that sends them upriver.

    • @davidbrinkmann3322
      @davidbrinkmann3322 2 місяці тому +8

      Because its a fish refuge. Theres a dam here so fish are blocked at this point to get them to go into the weir where the dnr spawns fish to take the eggs to the hatchery. The club i am a member of rasied a major portion of the funds the get this built. So we can have a vibrant lake michigan fishery.

I'd think the people fishing there would have called that are following the rules. Why does it have to be me? You probably didn't watch until the end but long story short the police did come so somebody called.
