For example, the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) protects innovators and their parents. That way when SpaceX or Tesla invents the latest and greatest digital widget they can apply for a parent so that the government will protect their innovation from those who would steal their ideas. Of course the government provides roads and tons of other servicea that we rely on as a society so let's all keep those things in mind when we drive, fly, etc.

NASA/Gov Would rather the astronauts of the starliner burn up on reentry then ask spaceX for help. What does that tell you.
I didn't notice any mention of power source. Is there an internal or external battery? It seems that would add considerably to the weight and so would a large enough solar panel, controller, and inverter.
I live Rural and was a Hughes Net. They ran fiber optic down my road. I now have 1 Gig of speed and the rain doesn't shut me down. No way would I want Starlink.
I love the bottom disclaimer on the toy "Not for Flight". I guess they do not have red flags "Remove before flight"?!
I can't believe that you got scammed into advertising that vastly overpriced cereal.
Its a premium product. May as well rail at BMW.
@@avgjoe5969 Superior products are more expensive...see Kikuichi.
More expensive does not mean a superior product...see Boeing.
Magic spoon is great for those of us who are on a Keto diet. It’s also very tasty and there are many flavors .
The planet needs diverse, redundant internet systems resilient to a single adverse condition (attack, solar event, hack-attack, etc.)
Looks like Amazon Kuiper may be a feasible redundant satellite -based system, but all satellite systems are probably subject to the same vulnerabilities.
If the Government system is not satellite based, then it should continue, but I don't know how it would be different from the present internet (i.e. Pre-Starlink)
WiFi should be completely accessable globally. Starlink can do that!
What is Texas all time high temp?
120 °F
Extreme temperatures for each U.S. state and territory
State, federal district, or territory Record high temperature Date
Texas 120 °F (48.9 °C) June 28, 1994
I can get very good quality image on UA-cam with less than two megabits per second I don't understand nonsense about having 100 megabits per second
wow-another great informative video Ellie. But I am confused about the cost of the Mini. Ok so I pay the $600 for the mini-so what would I have to pay extra to get my phone linked to it. I now have Verizon so would I have to pay them monthly plus the mini service???
And yes, the FCC should keep hands off of Starlink-it is the future of communications.
Are you being sponsored by Coca-Cola?
If not, why are you shouting out that ball cap? You should be showing swag from either SpaceX or a sponsor. Not a company that is working against humanity.
I live in an area (not rural even, just suburbia) where Cox Communications has essentially a monopoly on broadband. I'm paying 70 per month for very basic cable Internet. If Starlink or Amazon was even a bit more expensive, I'd probably do it just to stick it to the established carriers. If Starlink and/or Amazon are comparable, I think the big cable and broadband companies are in big trouble! I'd think it'd be a great test to offer early access to these to you and some other independent journalists.
Since you're touching on fitness and nutrition, it's ridiculous. That magic spoon cereals is $10 a box vice Kellogg brand Fruitloops is like five bucks.. healthy alternative shouldn't cost twice as much as eating unhealthy I just is not makes sense.
$US599 plus $US30 a month on top of your existing monthy plan, I cant see what there is to be excited about, its a bit of a rip off, they should be giving the dishes for free with your plan, like most other ISPs do.
People are quick to blame government for so much but they also forget that government performs countless vital functions.
The Truth Will Set You Free. The Truth will make you Flee. Elon saved the Truth. God Bless Him! Great Product. GO ELLIE!😎
I have a separate question-
What happened to Bigelow Aerospace and who is taking up the mantle of making composites for inflatables?
- Are there any other third-party companies that are making inflatables and what kind of testing, materials, and vetting process do they have to go through in order to have it space worthy other than burst pressure testing, micro- meteor ballistics, radiation and UV, and so on?
See JCristina if you want an in-depth knowledge of the mini ellie
As a Starlink user, I would love to get a mini for overseas travel but that might be a while before dish and service is opened for other continents .....
Wow this is horrible,Starlink is doomed, they only have around 3 Million customers right now,and they predicted 30 million in 2023!
I think the federal program was enacted mostly for political reasons; it sounds nice. Actual performance is a weak secondary priority. Although, since the program's nonperformance is gaining some attention in an election year, the feds may try to actually accomplish something. Private enterprise will always be an order of magnitude (or two) faster than the gov.
We would love one for our trimaran! This update would finally make it feasible for us to contribute as starlink customers. Energy, consumption, weight, size, and cost all matter to us.
Elon musk is exactly like Marvel's Tony Stark and Stark industries...the parallels are uncanny. The government is constantly trying to out do Stark technology. At the same time they depend on it as well.
A friend in rural NC has been waiting for Starlink for 3 years. Some areas are oversubscribed, others are waiting for more satellites. Starlink needed to be flying more of the constellation and more V2 sats in order to meet the requirement for the rural internet money. It will be great at some point, but the .gov can't run on 'Elon time'.
Hi Ellie, FYI you need good upstream speeds for streaming in HD. I'm looking forward to getting one when we do a big lap here in Australia.
one other place to look is Rural Fiber that Copo are doing in areas of the south like Ga and Fl we are in the process of getter Gibi Fiber before the end of 2025 It has been a process and now more the 6000 homes have internet that was not available before. StarLink is not the be-all end all so Open your research to other then Starlink.
NEWS FLASH: The Left hates Elon, Who knew?
Its getting smaller and smaller... 5 years from now this will be embeded on phones..
Ellie, Speaking as a parent so I hope you understand. I’m a real fan but please don’t ask for fan support and then go to Paris and Japan when it has nothing to do with space. P.S. That was a great interview with Elon.
Great reporting. 👍
Unfortunately, Magic Spoon tastes like the most unhealthy, processed, industrial strength cereal ever made. If you choose to do these schlocky ads, I can choose to comment upon them.
I definitely want the mini to complement my Starlink. I want it for the RV and figure out a mount to go in my Model Y!
I'd like to know what's happening with Kuiper as well, Ellie, especially as a number of the staff that Elon fired from the original Starlink team were bought up by Bezos to kickstart his rival constellation. Must be tough having to ask other launch providers to get your sats into orbit before your fcc licence expires.
The "slash" Need/Hate perfectly describes the US governments relationship with Elon
Who knows, maybe khyper will be useful? Ig they’d have build a rocket to put it in space first though hahaha
Thank you Ellie, my english is so limited but I understand well when you speak so clearly❤❤
You’re welcome 😊 that’s great to know
Really want to put this in my survey plane. Flying in remote areas in Canada. Will be amazing
Just more lefty raz.
Go mini.
Thanks Ellie.
Use google translate..
Plz research deeper Ellie. It's not just a blanket government. Follow the $$
Politics = I scratch your back, you scratch my back.... money talks, bullshit walks....
You're the best Ellie. I think you might want to check out Ellie Mae's Tiki Bar next time you visit Cape Canaveral. Relitivity Space had a celebration party there for their inaugural launch 😎🍹🌴🍺🌴🥃🌴🚀🚀🚀
