Of late saying that Madonna sucks has become something you say to grant yourself an easy access to the overcrowded Olympus of self-proclaimed cool people. I have her last record and it doesn't suck at all, especially if compared to all the garbage we are fed in the pop department. She had such an amazing career and put out an incredibly diverse palette of music that it's really sad seeing how she's reduced to a guilty pleasure people feel compelled to justify themselves for.

Are you guys actually listening? Or just being incredibly uncharitable with what she's saying? There's an entire emotional/insnpirational type thing here, regardless of whether she finds their music ultimately good or not. It's not like she was praising Bieber for having incredible music she loves, but for writing his own shit and not being a product of the industry - I mean she even called him an asshole for crying out loud.
And besides all that, these comments about how Grimes is so good at music but she has terrible taste... that might arouse suspicion, in a reflective individual, that maybe, just maybe, the good musician sees something that you don't. Read her tumblr, she takes inspiration from fucking everything and anything and finds the good stuff in dumpsters - that's why she has such a great sound IMO.

He put 'The Lone Ranger' on one of his best movies lists, for crying out loud. Great artists are thinking on a level where they don't need to label art as "good" or "bad." I know! It's so refreshing to see an unbiased voice in music! She seems to have a wonderful open-mindedness to just...appreciate pop for what it is in it's many forms and styles. She doesn't have pre-formed grudges and likes what she likes for solid reasons. It's not often that one musician can talk about stuff like that without getting trash-talky. I just love her and her outlook on music. I agreee.
I really like Grimes. I just saw her in an interview for the first time a couple days ago and she is not how I expected her to be (not that I really had a clear picture in ,my head.....) but I am really pleasantly surprised with how cool this girl is. I love her cute voice, her opinions, her adorable giggle, how intelligent and talented she is and most of all- she seems humble and not afraid to express her opinion. This is pretty awesome! I like most everything she mentioned except Bieber. I understand why she appreciates his music though. Overall, I like how her taste is a lot like me when it comes to music. I can shift from listening something like Skinny Puppy to Blink-182 at the drop of a hat. If I hear something, regardless of genre, and I like it then I will listen to it. It's pretty much that simple. One should never be afraid to branch out and listen to other styles of music. You may just surprise yourself in what you end up enjoying.
