And I also think there are countless valid things Azealia has said in critique of the music industry, racism, etc. but they get overlooked in favor of her worst moments. People don’t take into account the sabotage and industry abuse/racism that Azealia experienced during her come up that caused her to make several of these statements due to being betrayed and exploited by almost every person that she considered a friend or a peer. Grimes included. I won’t ever excuse the transphobic stuff because I am queer myself, but she has expressed remorse for those statements and thanked the queer community for supporting her throughout the years. She is a very nuanced person, and she has left a bad taste in the mouths of many, but I don’t think it’s fair how people just reduce her to this offensive caricature of an angry black woman when there seems to many layers to why she has behaved the way she has. And lately, she has been keeping her head down. She just came out in support of trans people and drag queens last month, in her classic hilarious and poetic Banks fashion but that didn’t get half as much attention as some of her more recent feuds have. I feel if there were more critical discussion about her persona and history that truly dissected the many facets Azealia has, instead of just writing her off as a crazy bigot, most would be able to understand that she’s just as complicated, misunderstood, and wildly talented as Grimes is and she deserves much more than she has been given.

This is so interesting, I got really into Grimes around 2012 when I discovered Visions but fell off around the time she started dating Musk. I never got too into her "lore" though, and you went so much mor in depth about the things I thought I knew about. She's such a bizarre person and I have so many conflicting feelings about her, but the moment I heard Genesis playing in the background I felt so emotional and nostalgic, that was my FAVORITE song for so long.

I’m a bit hard of hearing, so it was difficult to keep it at a listenable volume. GREAT video, as a former Grimes fan I feel similar to all other people who discovered her during the tumblr era. My only sidenote to offer would be that her performance in Cyberpunk was actually bad. Nothing to do with a lisp, she was just incredibly flat in her character voice delivery and in comparison to all the other amazing voice acting it was just soo much worse. Yeah I get she's not a trained voice actor but it really stood out and made that "special" character a lot less immersive.

But, just in case you read your comments, I want to tell you that the volume on this video was pretty low. I’m a bit hard of hearing, so it was difficult to keep it at a listenable volume. I couldn’t really do anything else while it played on my phone speakers, and I had to turn it all the way up in my car when it followed me to an errand, haha.

GREAT video, as a former Grimes fan I feel similar to all other people who discovered her during the tumblr era. My only sidenote to offer would be that her performance in Cyberpunk was actually bad. Nothing to do with a lisp, she was just incredibly flat in her character voice delivery and in comparison to all the other amazing voice acting it was just soo much worse. Yeah I get she's not a trained voice actor but it really stood out and made that "special" character a lot less immersive.
