I had a "Steam Along" Tomy Thomas toy (the battery-operated trains that ran on blue tracks) as a kid that would take on water and puff out steam while running along. This steam generator seems to work in a similar way! Seeing the initial puff of steam along with the chuffing and whistle sounds made childhood me very happy 😄😄
Great review and a nice running session, thanks for sharing!

I had a similar feeling when it first started. It makes we want to add a bridge with a couple of children standing on the top looking at the steam train!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

A Stunning model of Prince of Wales

Yes it is. But it’s ultra sensitive on points and joins, which is frustrating….

That really adds something to running model locomotives. I really hope they bring out a 9F with this! Lovely model and sound!

Agreed, I really like the feature.

@@hillmanhalt They tried doing the Live Steam but very fiddly and models were fairly expensive with maintanence. This was the solution - think they've nailed it. Now to do it on all their premium models but will only do it if people purchase these and support it. I'd rather have it than not.

My grandfather used to have several live steam O gauge locos…a long time ago!
I would have liked to get one of the OO live steam locos. They looked really good, albeit very fiddly! Would have been perfect for an outdoor track.

One of my first Thomas toys I got was a steaming push along Thomas with music and lights. He would puff smoke whenever he whistled. Glad to see a feature like this still around today.

That’s so funny! If only the price point was the same! 🤣

As a great fan of Gresley P2s, I've got the whole range of them on order, including that SS one. A shame the sound profile isn't that of the new one being built, but that taking a while to build.
To appreciate the vapour better, it needs a dark background, so that white wall will have to go 😊

Yes, very true. There will be scenic backgrounds all the way around d at some point…I’m just not there yet!

I’d rename it Wolf of Badenoch. A proper name for such a beast

Is there any mention of regular tap water vs. distilled water? It would seem that "cleaner" water would allow the steamer to have a longer lifetime. Oh, and I like your method of "unboxing": Open 'er up and take 'er out.
Check your spelling - the "intitial thoutghs" could stand a review.
    Glad to subscribe.

Hi there. No mention in the documentation about the type of water, but I think your comment is reasonable.
Spelling - great call out, I didn’t spot that….but I think “inititial” sounds more interesting than “initial.” 🤣

Use distilled water. The German manufacturers require distilled water in their water based steam generators. Normal tap water can ruin the generator over time.

You Brit's should use distilled water as your tap water is loaded with minerals .The cost of bottle of distilled water won't break the bank
