I am from Bengal and I loved Chennai. If you try to blend in, everything works. Just don't behave like someone who is trying hard not to blend in. This is true about any city in the world, let alone Indian city.
Agree!
Blend in is the best way to enjoy, i want to visit Kolkata and taste Bengali sweet, KC Das rasagulla, Kolkata rolls etc, and want to ride trams...
@@ashoks726 You are welcome to visit anytime. Btw there is more to Kolkata than sweets and trams.

As a person who lived in both North India and South India I can say that It will be difficult for a South Indian to stay in North India because of the Innocence of South Indian (My personal opinion). I have seen many North Indians having double standards and I have been scammed many many times. They will force you to speak in Hindi even though they can understand English and they make fun of your language (For sometime its fine but it sure gonna hit you in a personal way). They may take advantage of your politeness (not everyone). They act like they are superior to you. I have friends in North India too don't get me wrong but I got those friends only after I act like them. Whatever maybe the case we all are brothers and sisters and we all love our mother INDIA.
Which state have u stayed in North?
hey, i'm from Bihar . I agree some people are like that in north. Some north people also makes fun of north east people calling them chinese or even Bihari people as lalu, illiterate even we all are north Indian ironically. So, dont care these are just ignorants.Good and bad people are everywhere.
Btw I love south Indians and admire their culture and traditions.

@@tanyapriyadarshini6378 I m from Braj hope you know were is Braj but everyone makes fun if we speak Braj bhasha as they refer it as 'Gao' wali language
Rohit Chandra you have completely stolen my words. I feel exactly the same as a northeast Indian. All they want you is to prove your Indian patriotism particularly towards them the way they define it,so that they can feel superior and then sell it as nationalism.
*Major difference between South and north India is*
South Indians can understand many language including Hindi. North Indians understand only Hindi
😂😂😂
🤣🤭
All North indians don't have Hindi as Mother tongue, it's Bhojpuri, maithili, Awadhi, Bengali, Gujarati Etc And Mine is Maithili And I know maithili, Hindi, English And Little bit Punjabi.

Majority north Indians understand at least three languages
English Hindi and their regional language

Even 10yrs back, same points were valid but now people are changing and accepting the beautiful and culturally vibrant South India. Surprisingly Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi are my favourite actors.
I love Sambhar and Rasam a lot. Real respect is when you accept someone as they are instead of finding the similarities. Thanks for clarifying the prejudice.
Madam everybody speaks Tamil because it's a Tamil land . When a south indian goes to Lucknow he won't wonder why everybody is speaking hindi . Maybe you expect people to know your language . That's how north indians in Bangalore behave like expecting local people to speak hindi

Yup! This needs to be heard 😊🙏🏻 Thank you so much ❤️
I'm currently working in Infosys in Mahindra World City. Having stayed in Chennai for almost a decade (since I did my engg. here), I can say that Chennai is livable for people who can deal with staying alone. I, for instance, am habituated with enjoying my own company and have no problems in Chennai. As a matter of fact , I love my time in Chennai. However, those that seek company and cannot stay alone and tend to feel lonely may have a really hard time dealing with South Indians (Tamilians). Many North Indians even face discrimination and are usually deliberately isolated by South Indians. I have seen many such examples. The only way is to try to mingle in with the others. This is something that I despise doing and I'd rather stay alone than try to get into a group where I feel I'm not welcomed in the first place. If a North Indian can deal with this, everything else in Chennai is fine. I love my spa sessions in Chennai and consider it my second home (after Kolkata). :)
Thank you for sharing your experience :)
I am from assam. Once i went chennai, most people understand the basic english words but problem arises some people specifically the street vendors don't even know the basic english words so i had to deal with body language to explain them what i was asking for. An experience i never had before.
In many shops i didn't had any problem because in them many salesmans were the migrant workers from my state. When they overheard me speaking Assamese with my friends ,later on i was conversing with them in my mother tongue.
Body language = asking for bidi 😛
I am from Andhrapradesh.
Currently I am living in U.P.
Here also some people like street vendors don't know basic English. Not even numbers.

Great video. Although except having visited some relatives in T-Nagar and Adayar, during my early boyhood days, I have no experience with Madras. We used to board a local train to go to Tambaram. We don't have much local train network in Hyderabad, so it was exillierating.
BTW, Chennai is a wet city, those areas are extremely drenching in summer. Within half an hour of going out you get drenched in your own sweat, because the humidityin the air won't absorb your sweat. That's good for health. It keeps you cool.
In Hyderabad you don't get drenched in sweat because the body water gets evaporated into the dry air around and you get exhausted without even realizing unless you are supplementing it with electrolyte salts every now and then.
Hai... As you conclude, where ever we go we have to enjoy that place, i am from Coimbatore, when i worked in Bangalore i search for best Bangalore foods, in Hydrabad for their best biriyani and now in Saudi i am enjoying the best Grills, Shewarma, Arabic rice dishes etc, if i search for best Idly dosa in Saudi, i will be disappointed, i try to learn some basic Arabic and hang out with Arabic friends, i go with them and try to learn and appreciate the culture....

I think ur heading should be how u survived in Tamil Nadu and not in South India.South has more states and languages, cultures and cuisines. Just to inform, no offence meant.
I was thinking the same.. this can be confusing to many people in north! For instance, when she said language can be a huge problem, in SOUTH, no, it’s not, because you won’t face language problems in Bangalore or hyderabad which are cosmopolitan cities.. while you will face language issues in Chennai or in Kerala!

One thing i experienced is that some people ,when you talk to them is English, they suddenly switch to local language. I advise everyone to learn local language to socialize and to have fun with friends. But they expect us to learn in 1-2 months. 😂
What is wrong in it. Atleast we don’t question your nationality becoz of language like you people say being an Indian can’t you speak hindi.
Winter me weather kaisa rhta h ?
I'm from Andhra and I worked in Chennai for a couple of years. The worst part of Chennai is its humidity...for that matter any tropical sea side city... humidity takes a toll on oneself
It's very difficult to learn south Indian languages..they have no similarity to other languages unfortunately..it's easy to pick up marathi etc.
All south indian languages are mostly same.
You are right. They are Dravidian. The closest Dravidian language in the North is Brahui spoken in Balochistan, Pakistan. Start with greetings, simple phrases, questions (Who, What, Why, When, Where, How, How Much), and you will eventually get the hang of it. Many of the words are Sanskrit or even English based, so put together your own easy vocabulary based on such words as a good start,
So true... 😍😍

Actually the biasness started only due to the Hindi push in south India, way back in 1967 during Lal Bahadur Shastri's period who wanted to push Hindi in Tamil Nad and there was Anti Hindi Agitation throughout Tamil Nad. For instance, I am from Tamil Nad and my hometown is Coimbatore however, I have spent major part of my life in Delhi (South Delhi) Greater Kailash. I did my schooling and college in Delhi and also started my service in Delhi. Even my father served in public sector companies and posted in Delhi for about 40 years. I find no difference whether I live in Delhi or Chennai. I know better Tamil than people living in Chennai, so do I can speak fluent Hindi. But my favouate language to communicate is one and only English.
