I am from Bengal and I loved Chennai. If you try to blend in, everything works. Just don't behave like someone who is trying hard not to blend in. This is true about any city in the world, let alone Indian city.

As a person who lived in both North India and South India I can say that It will be difficult for a South Indian to stay in North India because of the Innocence of South Indian (My personal opinion). I have seen many North Indians having double standards and I have been scammed many many times. They will force you to speak in Hindi even though they can understand English and they make fun of your language (For sometime its fine but it sure gonna hit you in a personal way). They may take advantage of your politeness (not everyone). They act like they are superior to you. I have friends in North India too don't get me wrong but I got those friends only after I act like them. Whatever maybe the case we all are brothers and sisters and we all love our mother INDIA.

An experience i never had before.

I'm currently working in Infosys in Mahindra World City. Having stayed in Chennai for almost a decade (since I did my engg. here), I can say that Chennai is livable for people who can deal with staying alone. I, for instance, am habituated with enjoying my own company and have no problems in Chennai. As a matter of fact , I love my time in Chennai. However, those that seek company and cannot stay alone and tend to feel lonely may have a really hard time dealing with South Indians (Tamilians). Many North Indians even face discrimination and are usually deliberately isolated by South Indians. I have seen many such examples. The only way is to try to mingle in with the others. This is something that I despise doing and I'd rather stay alone than try to get into a group where I feel I'm not welcomed in the first place. If a North Indian can deal with this, everything else in Chennai is fine. I love my spa sessions in Chennai and consider it my second home (after Kolkata). :)

This is a good video. We are happy that you have language problem here...because when we come go to rajasthan, hariyana, delhi..nobody speaks tamil. Its balanced now. Yes we like banglore and mumbai more because ..they try to help tamils by speaking in tamil. So these two cities are special to us,.. even though its not right to expect them to speak tamil.

Great video. Although except having visited some relatives in T-Nagar and Adayar, during my early boyhood days, I have no experience with Madras. We used to board a local train to go to Tambaram. We don't have much local train network in Hyderabad, so it was exillierating.
BTW, Chennai is a wet city, those areas are extremely drenching in summer. Within half an hour of going out you get drenched in your own sweat, because the humidityin the air won't absorb your sweat. That's good for health. It keeps you cool.
In Hyderabad you don't get drenched in sweat because the body water gets evaporated into the dry air around and you get exhausted without even realizing unless you are supplementing it with electrolyte salts every now and then.

Actually the biasness started only due to the Hindi push in south India, way back in 1967 during Lal Bahadur Shastri's period who wanted to push Hindi in Tamil Nad and there was Anti Hindi Agitation throughout Tamil Nad. For instance, I am from Tamil Nad and my hometown is Coimbatore however, I have spent major part of my life in Delhi (South Delhi) Greater Kailash. I did my schooling and college in Delhi and also started my service in Delhi. Even my father served in public sector companies and posted in Delhi for about 40 years. I find no difference whether I live in Delhi or Chennai. I know better Tamil than people living in Chennai, so do I can speak fluent Hindi. But my favouate language to communicate is one and only English.

I'm a Bengali from Kolkata, West Bengal. Recently in our nieghbours house a Tamil family came... the whole family is great and the uncle is my very good friend. That was my first encounter with Tamilians in real life. I was researching about them, have became a big fan of Tamil movies. I have also made some Tamil friends in facebook... all of them are so friendly. The only thing now I want is to marry a Tamil girl and get blend with the culture completely. So, I was asking... is it possible for a Bengali to marry a Tamil girl? Are there any prejudice regarding such inter-cultural mareiages?

Still kerala can assure you a high quality of life. Pollution is very low and and corruption rate is also very low. Law and order in kerala is very strict. So need to worry of crimes. Kerala is police is one the best in india they are very efficient. And also kerala neighbouring states are also very effiecient especially tamil nadu so need to worry anything. Kerala people are very hospitable. There is no problem of religion or caste system.. so have great life in kerala...
