  • This piece was a learning experience for me. Never used epoxy resin in this way before and I am relatively happy with the results. I say relatively, I'll likely sand it back once more and refinish as there are still some tool marks that were missed.
Overall this was a fun project to do, resin was a little messy, but I was expecting it to be. My process for applying the resin was not great which again as a first time I was expecting also.
Had to cut filming and attack it with tape as you will see to try and contain some of the leaking epoxy.
It has been finished with Chestnut Products Sanding Sealer, Yorkshire Grit and beeswax.
    Thanks for watching!

Nicely done with the resin. It would have been a shame to not finish it. Nice end result 😊 ॐ

Interesting 'sane', but with all that character, I would like to see if that natural edge rim would have added even more character - just a thought.

Thanks! I try not to think about those pieces where the bark got away, there's so many of them haha!
This was my second ever youtube video, I have actually since changed this bowl making it much thinner as I became a more confident turner.

It came out looking good. However when you do a bowl side grain it is important to get rid of the pith. ( from experience). In this case you'd want to go back and fill al those cracks around the pith. Otherwise your piece will crack and perhaps fall apart. Nice try for the resin filling. It is very hard to fill a curved surface than a flat one. Good luck.

Thanks a lot! It was a first attempt and a bit of an experiment in resin filling/turning and learnt a lot in the process. Thanks for the tips 👍
