I thought about this after Mark mentioned but it didn't actually need to stick out of the chuck at all really, adds to the excitement though ay 😂 Thanks for stopping by Mike!!
Thank you so much! There is no purpose beyond being a cool thing to hold. Also with it being an odd shape it doesn't look like something that could be made using a lathe. Makes people question how it's possible, especially wood turners. 😁
In. Credible. That had me guessing the whole way. And that was a long time to hold my breath. But why the assymetric length of wood? Am I i missing something obvious? (Feel free to enter your own joke there.) Thanks Tim, fascinating, informative and enjoyable as always.
Thanks Mark!! The length of wood was because after the initial part was made and the piece rotated, it's then only held in the jaws on one side by the part I didn't touch. Realistically, I probably could/should have cut the full length down to just clear the chuck but what can I say, this way is definitely more exciting 😂 Cheers mate!
Thank you so much! To be fair, it doesn't have to overhang at all so it could definitely be done with a lot less madness flailing around. I didn't know where I was going with this at the start so left it on there just in case. The added danger is kinda exciting too 😂
Thanks Ben! I actually saw one but on a bigger scale which needed all kinds of jigs to hold the wood, probably the reason I put it off for so long. Didn't realize it could be done with what I had. Cheers mate!
Salut Tim tu as beaucoup de patience et de la précision bravo 👍👏👋
Thanks for watching and the kind words, Denis! 😁

Really nice quick project!!!
Thank you sir!
Ok, that's impressive ... let us know when you've built a dodecahedron with each leg having an emerging ball ! Way to go Tim ! Take care. -Mike
Cheers Mike!! That's definitely a project for the future 😂😂 Thanks for watching buddy, take care.
@@tfturning 👍😎
Wonderfully technical bit of turning Tim, I don't think I could have done it without loosing my knuckles lol

That's pretty cool Tim. I'd find it scary & knuckle bursting to try but I might put my big boy pants on & have a go......... possibly ! 😊

Nice one Tim. How did you even think to do that? 🤯
Thanks Ben! I actually saw one but on a bigger scale which needed all kinds of jigs to hold the wood, probably the reason I put it off for so long. Didn't realize it could be done with what I had. Cheers mate!
Why is the block such long in the first place?
I thought I would need more than I actually did. Plus, it's more exciting this way.
Awaste of timber, whats it supposed to be
Not just a waste of timber, a complete waste of time and effort too! What should I have turned instead, world peace?
There are two types of people in this world and @richardyoung7233 is definitely one of them.
Made me nervous that the piece would fly off!
Same, that's where some of the excitement is 😂 Thanks for watching!
Wow!
Thanks for watching Andy!
You might need to practice a little whittling… that pencil sharpening job looks awful! Lol
You are absolutely right, it's bad and I should feel bad! In my defense.. nah, I got nothing! 😂
