Another fantastic day on the water. I would like to see another catch and cook. You always seem to come up with new ways to turn the ocean’s bounty into gourmet meals.
Great bite, looked like a lot of fun. 20 degrees in the am , yow too cold for this Fla boy to be out on the water. Great adventure, thanks for bringing us along. Cheers
Any day Elias V posts a video is a good day on the UA-cams! Elias, could you please post a followup video, re: fishing reels you’ve used recently. Would love to hear to hear your thoughts on Spinfisher, Slammer, Fuego, Stradic and others you’ve used in last couple of years. Cheers!
I'll always have a soft spot for black drum. We caught a mess of 'em off the little pier at Caswell. Caught a lot more of those toads, which do NOT share the same place of affection.
If you want to catch big black drum. Go fish by the seafood docks. My son and I were catching 60 to 65 pound drums with a string line and dead blue crabs.
You are a freakin stud Elias ! Can't get much better Dec yak fishing as far north as you are. I would like to see you maybe do a "safety" video when things get slow. I see you do wear insulated clothing and prob an inflatable PDF, also you usually have someone shadowing you. Kayak fishing can be so dangerous, especially in the Atlantic. Just so many scenarios can go bad, weather, current, other boaters. Stay safe, keep them coming.
Gotta love togs, man. Nice slab of meat for the pan even from smaller ones. Blackened with a roasted red pepper sauce is just what you need on a cold NC day.
I’ve done a light dry seasoned flour coat, no egg, no wash, and that’s ok, but yeah, definitely prefer togs with just spices. They’d be stupid good over orzo pasta with melted cowboy butter.
Nice to see a Tautog! Used to fish in my cousins boat near the wantaugh bridge on the island when i was young and have them pull us just enough off our anchor or tigh down or even into the bridge pillings in the wind and cold using green crabs when we both hooked up. We wouldnt consistently use good judgement on all fronts if you know what i mean, but constant action. Much greater diversity of reef/structure fish here in NC. Great vid as always. When you go to the inlets do you bracket the slack tide?
Something about that net, it just doesn't look that big on camera. A large fish comes up and every time I'm like, no way that animal is going in that net, but then it does!
idk how you feel on eating ringtail, but thanksgiving weekend my family went 6ish miles off the inlet there and kept a couple stud ringtails and they sure were tasty
Woe,twenty degrees in the morning 🥶 Your rock jetties are interestingly different than those found in Socal. For instance,Mussels,Abalone, and other shell fish are visible at low or midtide. There's also an abundance of seaweed and kelp. And we can't catch a single fish with anything resembling a crab. It seems everything eats mud crabs in your waters 😊 I don't think I've ever seen you keep any kind of drum?
Idle question, I live in MI and have never fished the ocean. What kind of preventative actions and/or maintenance do you have to do on your equipment because of the salt water?
James, some gear is not designed for salt water, so avoid using that. In any case, all gear should be rinsed thoroughly after use in salt water and left to air dry before being stowed away.
Great video as always and how do you keep the mud crabs alive I'm in pensacola florida and use them often but can't seem to keep them alive for more than a day
Thought I share with you , came across an article that says the fish in Florida have been found to have pharmaceuticals in their blood and I'm sure it's not an isolated thing. This is just another reason why I'm always saying/posting , Help abolish the recreational fishing licenses permission slips because I don't believe our waters are getting any better, just my thoughts.
I prob do NOT think it's an isolated issue in Fl w the drugs. Between Ohio and Fl I'm sure there both tops for oxy and pain killers. Even if people are just digesting drugs I'm sure they make there way into the Ocean. Florida is a cesspool, I live here, pollution is so bad everywhere.
seen you catch a lot of sheepshead and i've yet to catch one... is it the bait? I hear they eat the crap out of crabs, I could get fiddler crabs or blue crab for bait.
Males have a more squared shape bottom jaw. Also, usually white in color. Females, jaw/face is rounder or pointed. They tend be be somewhat darker or have marbled patterns on their lower jaw/face.
"Every year is different", that is so true.
Very true
Gotta love those mixed bag kinda days bro. Nice work. Beautiful day as well.
The surf flipped me over in the surf off AB last weekend and I've never been more cold.
Fast fishing, one after another. Nice day out! Waiting for hardwater up here in New England now, then drill some holes and get back to fishing

Solid jetty fishing there.
Love watching you find em and catch em. Thanks for taking me along. Can't wait for your keys trip.
What a fun day!

What a great day of fishing. I’m heading out tomorrow night. Hopefully I can have some luck as well. Great video,
I'm looking forward to a few episodes from the Keys. Hope to get down there early next year, and your tour will give us a heads-up.
Excited as well
I was screaming at my screen when you put your hand near that blue fish! Then you went to your pliers.
Those puppy drum are great eating... (not the "bulls," though - too wormy.) Thx for bringing us along!
Good mix of fish on those crabs
I gotta get out there and do some fishing like this on my kayak
Solid day of fishing 🤙
Love your stuff man .
You should do a ceviche catch and cook on a yellow jack once you’re down there in the keys. I heard they are delicious
They are pretty good
Another great video. Loved it.

What great conditions you had this day. Great action

Got a few on hand. I'll have to try that.
No breading on tog that’s for sure.

wow, that was a ton of fish! Nice job!
looks like an awesome spot

Keep em comin sir, your videos are always enjoyable... makes me so jealous though 😢🤣
Dang good day of fishing. Black drum was showing out a little more than normal.

What net is that?

The speckle trout run should be coming soon
Awesome as usual. Do you prefer the jetties during the outgoing or incoming tides during fall and winter seasons?
Great video. What winds are you looking for the conditions to be calm like that at the jetty? I really want to catch a tog!!!
Also, do you prefer the vibes with a treble or single hook? Trebles are to hard to dehook while maneuvering IMO

Will sport fish eat Shrimp off of the Socal jetties?
yes, red, and ghost shrimp work best off jetties.
Very well done! ?Bravo Zulu.

Have you ever considered becoming a kayak fishing guide? You could book 2-3 trips per week with up to 6 yakers. $ 150-200 per day per person. I am in!
I used to guide - I prefer this current model for income.
We get any actual fish able numbers or tog here in nc

Are you in Florida because I never seen Blackfish Court in Florida

Ever get many tog off that area? Used to be my fave bottom fish when I lived in Greenport
EDIT: lol well I got to the part with the Tog !
Epic!
Is this the south part of the Cape Fear River?
What was that like a hundred fish 😮
Do you recommend your fish finder? Thoughts about it?

Have you ever had a shark come past?
Come on, North Carolina people love eating bluefish.
Wondering if someone, somewhere has ever eaten a toadfish and how it was.
It’s good - not much meat for the work to clean them though.
