  • In this video I show you a very easy, quick and cheap way to straighten bent and kinked wire that may have come out of the junk electronics components box.
Often when building an electronics project or circuit, a piece of connecting wire may be needed and the only place it can be found is in the spares box or some other place where it has been used before and it is bent and kinked.
Removing the bends and kinks in the electronics project connecting wire is very easy and requires only the use of a screwdriver.
It brings many advantages in terms of being able to re-use connecting wire in an electronics project that might otherwise be re-usable, it reduces the cost because it means that new connecting wire does not have to be bought when building the electronic circuit design, and it is also more ecologically friendly because it means that less wire goes to waste.
By simply straightening the connecting wire the electronics project being built can look very much neater and far more presentable.
Although the straightened wire is often left with a slight bend, this is no more than would be present if it were taken straight from a reel.
If it is needed totally straight, then it can be gently run over the screwdriver shank as shown in the video.
This method of straightening wire for an electronics, or other project is very easy and doesn't cost a penny.

Nice tip! This would make a great UA-cam short too.

Nice video! I'm trying to do the opposite though lol. Do you have a video on how to coil a wire, like for the radio receiver in the intro?

Sadly we don’t have a video on that. For winding coils, there were coil winding machines - I used these when I was working for a company some years ago - they even had a coil winding workshop as they used many coils in the receivers and transmitters they designed and manufactured.

how to do this with a 50 meters cable? :D

That’s not an easy one - I’ve never done one of that length by a long way. If I had to do it, I would probably try to get the big knits out of it and then try to run it over a larger cylinder, instead of the screwdriver. I would also try winding it onto a cable drum once it had been over the larger “screwdriver” cylinder. Probably repeat a few times. Have I explained it sufficiently. Only an idea though as I’ve never done one that long.
