Love the videos Ryan! Im a fairly new XC pilot and I'm wondering why you asked for the turn direction over the radio? Doesn't the first pilot that starts the gaggle decide this on their own? Cheers!

Awesome, glad to hear you enjoy them thanks Jake! In competitions, they specify a turn direction before takeoff is opened. This applies to all pilots before the start of the task and has the purpose of trying to keep things more organised while everyone is scratching together to get up. So there's a takeoff window which is say 12h00 then the start window is say 13h00 (when the actual race starts for the guys in the sky) and if you're flying between this time, you must turn in the chosen direction for the day.
      Hope that makes sense :)
