- I had an amazing paragliding experience this year at Hawaii.
Local pilots are just amazing and nature, ohh man, it's from another planet. Video is extremely long, ~13 minutes, as I tried to tell the story. I ended up behind the big mountain in the lee side and had to land in the Hawaiian jungle.
I definitely learned a cheap lesson, and I hope this experience might save someones' life in the future. Beware of the thick clouds and flying in them above the mountain ridge. Can be really tricky and dangerous regardless of the experience and the confidence you might have. I trusted my instruments including the magnetic compass which worked against me in a critical moment.
This few minutes behind the ridge was so intense. I had a new plan every 10 seconds which would be trashed and better ideas would just pop up in my brain. Luckily I didn't land in that volcano crater which looked like a fair option from the sky.
Way out was interesting. I had my 4G coverage most of the time as the telecommunication tower was on the top of the mountain so I could maintain a connection with others and assure them that I am okay.

That was an adventure! Well done (I mean the getting out of the bush, not the compass f-up lol)! I have been in mountain rotor, it's no picnic for sure. Glad to see you're unscathed ;)

Hi, what is the flying like in June? Do you need to have guidance, or solo is ok?
Solo might be fine, but I would for sure get with locals first.
