- See the locos and units stored in Worksop Up Yard.. Includes a mix of long-term resident locos which likely have a mixed future, plus class 379's and 465's which should make it back into service in the near-term.
All footage was captured inline with the CAA drone/UAS rules as of May-24 using a compliant sized drone.

It’s sad that a lot of those 465s/466s in storage are eventually going to be sent to Doncaster works to be stripped of parts as has been done to a few 465/2s
The 465/466 they technically are not that old, bit of maintenance and they could do another 30-40 years
I took a look at the Doncaster works a few weeks back and saw the remains of 465235 (effectively just the shell of 465235) and 465250 which was part stripped. Although it’s sad that these 2 units have been stripped of parts it’s good that the parts are keeping the other 465s alive.
The Networkers are ~25 years old. They’re reportedly difficult to maintain and some of the spares aren’t available from anywhere apart from cannibalising other units. They might have 10 years left, but that’s probably how long it would take to complete a full replacement program. That certainly don’t have another 30-40 years in them.
They arent being sent there. But it is now rumoured that a 465/2 from Ely Papworth late at night has been dragged there and now is stripped of parts out back and using it to refurb the 466s.

The Class 379s are moving to Worksop but some have been moved to Hornsey and very soon the rest of the Class 379s should be moved to Hornsey. And Great Northern to start introducing them in service.
Look around the country and parked up rolling stock is everywhere. This is an indication of the state of the uk economy not what they spout on the media.
Those 379s are reentering service sometime soon, but there’s not much of a future left for those Networkers
If only there was a preservation group interested in buying one of the met-cam 465s. I’m not that bothered if the B.R.E.L 465s are sent for scrap.

Why do Britain's railways throw away so much rolling stock, some of it quite new, or order brand new stock (often to replace the "old trains" that the previous franchise holder ordered), but then just park it in storage? Or spend a lot of money on upgrading rolling stock, and then decide "oh well, we don't need it so we'll just scrap it, that's £400 million down the drain but who cares, we don't have to bear the cost, the government will bear the cost or put up the fares or something 🤷♂️"
We don't seem to be good at future proofing
it's idiotic. no proper planning. sometimes cheaper to buy new than pay the hire costs for even relatively new trains.
THE CLASS 379 UNITS ARE TO BE REUSED BY GREAT NORTHERN. 2 UNITS WERE TAKEN FROM WORKSOP LAST WEEK AND THEN RETURNED BECAUSE THEY WERE INSPECTED BY GN AND THEY FOUND MAINTAINANCE ISSUES WITH RUSTED UP PARTS AND WERE THEN TAKED BACK TO WORKSOP. THE COMPANY THAT OWNS THIS SITE AT WORKSOP IS HARRY NEEDLE RAIL CARE SO THEY HAVE NOT TAKED MUCH CARE OF THE UNITS.

Most likely be brought by private companys, if not they will sit there before there time is up in the sidings then they will be sent to scrap.
The class 465/9 and 466s ( a few /2s) with the blue doors aren't going anywhere but the Class 379s are going on the ECML (East Coast Mainline) to Help out the Great Northern Class 387s.
