    If you live in or near Arizona, their government is auctioning off shipping containers used for border wall. Might be worth checking out.

    I have zero interests in shipping containers (well, I like to see vids of them being built out into homes and such). But I had to click through to your video and comment on your thumbnail. Wow. One of the best thumbnails I've ever seen on youtube. Great job. Was that a result of an AI prompt, by chance?

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  10 місяців тому +3

      Weird.. I said that to my editor who created it. Thought it was our most clear and concise thumbnail yet. I'll ask if AI had any part in its generation. We just started to ask for a list of 10 ideas a little while back but as far as I know, we create them all from scratch / free stock footage.

    Hey Channing for a future video could you touch on the subject of steel container arches or even just using two containers as the base for any type of roof structure. What your thoughts are on them? What are the realistic limits? Doing a little bit of research it seems like it gets murky when they get into the large sizes and hard to get a straight answer about what is actually feasible without anchoring the containers or reinforcing the interiors.

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  10 місяців тому +4

      Our container-repair shop is made with a 25' wide steel shelter across 2 x 53' insulated containers. We have the containers sitting on screw piles. I wouldn't want to do it without a proper foundation. Strut-line the containers with our CSM or MSS brackets for added rigidity. Or use our Exterior Studding Brackets and put regular trusses across.

    I bought two used standard 40' containers. One was $4,500 (including tax and delivery to Northern AZ) back in 2019, the other was $6,500 in 2022. The first one is in great condition, the more expensive one is in fair condition.

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  10 місяців тому +2

      That sounds exactly right with the market conditions during each of those periods. You aren't alone if you paid a little too much in 2022. If you needed it, you needed it.

    the price of container are nice but they are charging top dollars to deliver them... its around 900$ CAD over here for a 40feet! (montreal area)

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  10 місяців тому +4

      That's quite a bit but if you're forced to provide a flat rate and have to predict big city traffic, I can sympathize with the businesses out there. Also, if the area is tight and requires a side-lift trailer instead of a tilt-trailer, that could be another reason. We will drive 2-3 hours away for that price so it is a little steep but I imagine that problem is mostly a Montreal / Toronto / Vancouver issue where it could take 2-3 hours to get across the city.

    useful, though pricing is still a mystery in Texas. I bought a 40' HICUBE (both ends had doors) 1-tripper for $5400 delivered 200 miles west of El Paso. Delivery cost is really variable. Would love to add a 20' HICUBE for under or about $3k

    Great info. Glad you mentioned that the current inventory will keep prices higher for a while. Can the containers be put below grade, or even partially below grade? Thinking of doing a low profile shop in the backyard, maybe 2 units wide by 2 units long, but only 3-4' exposed. Would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

    Is there normally haggling on the prices? I HATE haggling but I wasn't sure if I should treat buying a container like a used car or what. I know it doesn't hurt to ask but what is the general consensus? I was quoted 10k in Ontario for a 40 foot non functional reefer, guaranteed water tight.The first quote was like 5 or 6 months ago and they mentioned the prices could go up or down and to budget 10% extra. When I called last week ready to buy they told me the price is the same now.

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  10 місяців тому +4

      There could be some haggling. Might be old stock that's higher priced still. I imagine you could find one for 8 to 9 grand plus delivery & tax so if the 10 grand was all in, that ain't bad. Have you called ATS Containers? They're pretty reputable in Montreal/Toronto. We might even be able to find you one. I believe Triton has a bunch of ex-reefers they're looking to offload into Canada.

    • @captivebredcanada
      @captivebredcanada 10 місяців тому +3

      @@TheContainerGuyTV + delivery/tax. ATS didn't want to deliver where I am in Northern Ontario, this company seems good, has a high google rating and other than paying for delivery / modification it's COD. They have been good to deal with although we haven't completed the transaction yet. (Elite container terminals). Thanks for replying so fast though.

    Good advice on timing on shipping containers. Super bad advice on interior spray foam. Do it for 20 years before you talk like you know. It's super caustic and should never be used indoors in such a tight enclosed space. it gases off for years, Not to mention that when applied incorrectly (99% of the time- most spray foamers are new rookies that don't mix or have temperatures correct.) it never cures and continues to gas forever.

    Hey, I don't suppose you guys deliver to Northeast Montana, do you? Im looking for a couple 9' high by 40' long containers for here on the farm. Can you recommend a good supplier in NE Montana or NW North Dakota?

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  10 місяців тому +5

      Honestly, there's nothing in that area. We would be the best to supply it out of Regina or Medicine Hat. The issue is getting across the border. If you have a 40ft flat deck, come up to Canada and buy one and also buy a mattress or something then when the customs agent asks what you have to declare, say a mattress 😂. They don't know when containers are a method of transport vs an item purchased.

    Got a great deal on a 40 high cube a couple weeks ago. $450 US plus delivery. The only thing is most of the roof is gone, but it has a Roll tarp on it. Do you have a good source for roof panels?

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  9 місяців тому +2

      Use upper decker brackets or our Exterior Studding Brackets and build a sloped roof across. Don't go back to metal and try welding everything. Finish the outside of it and make something cool out of it. We're doing the same thing right now with an old Generator shack.
