    Possibly the most beautiful example if guitar mastery I have ever heard. This solo always brings a tear to my eyes

    I first heard B.B. when I was 7, and this man plus Mr. Guy are the very reason I knew I was going to play guitar. I met this man on a once and a lifetime work trip through Mississippi. I worked for a power co subcontractor, and we stopped at a little cafe for lunch, and sitting at a booth was this legend. I told the guys to give me a minute I wanted to say hello to a someone. Nearly two hours later we parted ways, and I would love to have something akin to this to happen with Buddy Guy. Take it from this Alabama Boy, sometimes it pays to meet your heroes.

    BB King never gets old. Whenever I stuck for something to learn, I turn to BB as he makes EVERYTHING else I play sound better. Long live the King ❤

    The way he sings on Lucille...You can mimic it note by note, yet you will never sound the same

    Also love BB! I had the pleasure of seeing him numerous times in the 80s and 90s. Always put on a fantastic show with an amazing band.

      I saw BB in the mid 80’s in Poughkeepsie, NY. Brought me to tears. Wasn’t expecting that to happen, but it did. Not sure if this had an effect, There were a lot of African Americans in the crowd that night and they were really showing BB some love. Maybe I was imagining it, but BB seemed to be working _really_ hard. The man was soaked in sweat. I telling you, he was fucking trying _hard_. It was an old opera house called ‘The Chance’, and that place was shakin’. Possibly the greatest live performance I’ve ever seen. RIP BB.

    Man, I'll say it. Been amazed by BB forever, saw him twice in concert. The guy put on a masterclass, every time, of space! His solo's breathe and the space between his notes make the band behind him part of his solo! He was OK to not play ANYTHING at all! It's incredible and so far removed from what a modern solo is... a display of how many notes you can shove into a 12 bar solo. Dont get me wrong, there's a place, and I like/get it (sometimes), but...BB...The man! and the King of Space! Keep it up Michael!

    The mixing of major and minor pentatonic: the sweet and the savory. I always think of Hendrix with that. He'd switch from one to the other just to clear the palette.

      @@coachwalt2614me too, it looks easy but it's hard to hit the right notes at the right time and be patient. I struggle mostly with note choice I think, it's hard for me to think what note should come next and I end up playing things I don't mean to.

    Bb king does not get enough respect. Heck the whole jazz and soul genera doesn't get enough respect in the music industry. Because of these legends we might not have rock which leads to modern day metal.
    If yall want some good music look up RL Burnside.

    Michael, I don't know if you are religious or spiritual at all, but what do you think of the notion that some artists are conduits for something outside or unexplained by simply virtuosity? People like Hendrix or SRV. That their instrument is an extension of themselves and the music just flows through them.

  • @andersestes
    @andersestes 6 місяців тому

    wonderful Michael. This really opened my eyes for the blues and how to use the turnarund.
    Can I make a suggestion? When you call out the chord numbers, could you also (just once, dont need to repeat) say the chord name? Im learning the numberings.
    Definitly will be checing out your Blues Fundamentials.
    What you call the two-chord in this video, what chord is that? How would you flesh that out? You played only the tonika + dominant now, rigtht?
    Forget that, the two-chord is a B flat 7, right?
    Thanks, for all you do for us strugeling guitarslingers
