The popularity of SRV unleashed a torrent of guitarslingers on us, some very good and many not so much. These players need to learn to play like this before hitting us with pyrotechnics. B.B. King's playing style is a tradition that needs to be carried on.

He was born into a scratch and claw existence in Mississippi and rose above it all to become THE KING. if you love BB you should read something about his life. I saw him in person at least 10 times, met him once and I will never forget it. That was one of the highlights of my life .
If you pay attention to the fella twinkling the ivories, it sounds just like church music. Amazing! There will NEVER be another BB King. No one since has quite been able to capture blues the way he did. I am a budding blues player myself, and this is the man I want to pattern my playing after. There were others----Albert King, Freddie King, Albert Collins....the list goes on---but BB is who I want to follow after and learn from. I bought the DVD this performance is on, and it truly is a master class for anyone wanting to understand some of what he did.

It's fantastic play. I really like he doesn't have a lot of reverb that many bluesplayers use. It would ofcurse sound even better with P90's pickups. But to be honest..it would sound good with any guitar or pickup. It is BB King!
