    Rum runner is nice blooms really dark and lightens in color as the day goes by. If you don’t pay attention you might think you have two different plants haha

    Hi I live in northern VA and have a couple of beautiful pink tropical hibiscus trees in pots. I brought them inside the house near windows in hopes of saving them from the colder fall temperatures and winds and upcoming winter. How should I care for these babies now through next spring? What should I be doing besides keeping them inside??

    I brought my tropical hibiscus in for its first winter it sat in front of my window for the winter. It lost most of its leaves and so has bare stems now, and new leaves are forming in the middle of the top but all the bare stems have nothing. Do I prune those back or just leave them before I set her outside for the spring and summer?

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  Рік тому

      Scratch the bark to see if the stalk is green. If it is, then leave them and see if it will grow. If it is not green, it means it’s dead so prune it off.

    Love your presentation. Our gardener totally pruned our newly planted tropical Hibiscus tree, round, rather than free form, as I’d hoped it might grow. Help, how can I have it return to a free-form beauty? TY

      Hopefully it's better now since it's been two years but just care about full trimming and in time it will grow back

      Are you fertilizing it at all? If so, what is the NPK value on the fertilizer and how often is it being applied?

      This plants is a heavy feeder and must have at least 4 hrs direct sun daily to bloom. Keep soil slightly moist at all times and give good humidity. Some can be challenging.

    Thank you, I live on the tropical coast of Kerala, India .We have a day temp between 26 - 32 degree celcius from Nov to Feb, Do you think I should prune my Hibiscus now? oh and I must mention that some of the leaves are turning yellow.

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  6 років тому +2

      You can certainly prune your hibiscus now. Just make sure that you don't cut more than 1/3 of the plants full growth away at a time.

    Do you cut off dead blooms or let them fall off themselves?

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  5 років тому

      You can trim off the dead blooms. Won't harm them at all.

    Should I cut off blooms after they flower and remove yellow leaves

    • @LogeesPlants
      @LogeesPlants  5 років тому

      You can remove blooms once they've finished, or allow them to fall on their own. Either way won't harm the plant at all.

      We grow in a standard peat lite or soilless mix that is common throughout the industry. You can buy at retail garden centers.
