One of the best episodes guys, in fact going to Super Support now! Couple of things, I have the Mojave now for 3yrs, and a couple of reasons why I'm not going with another jeep, 1. Comfort, or lack thereof, it's just a horrible ride. 2. Lack of power trains, it's a dog, really. 3. Cost. Going ZR2, IMHO, best bang for buck. It was a toss up between that the the Ranger Raptor and the raptor worried me around reliability and a couple of cosmetic things I didn't like, agree that it's definitely not "raptor" worthy when it comes to body lines, etc (though that avalanche gray is one of the nicest colors IMO), lack of ac/heat vents in back seats, no sunroof, lack of physical nobs for lockers, etc among other things. When I drove the ZR2, it was like night and day difference in comfort to the Mojave but agree, the Mojave is one of the best offroad capable vehicles. I live in upstate, NY near Adirondacks and it's the snow belt and with the Mojave compared to other trucks I've owned, only used 4WD like 5 times since I've owned it in snow, it's a very capable beast but I'm' sure a lot of that has to do with the 33" Wildpeaks as well. As for costs right now in midsize, I think if we're in the $60s there's a problem there TBH. If you look at the AT4X AEV at almost $70k, the raptor is $80k for the full size, I would just do that really and you can get a ZR2 Silverado with Diesel for less than that. Any loving all the new content it's been great and helped me really formulate my decision on my purchase!
I love you guys... you do a great job. But I wholeheartedly disagree with your take on the Ranger Raptor's styling. Give me stealth ALL DAY LONG. I could not care less if folks flock to my ride. I am a card carrying member of the "If You Know... You Know" club.
@@Dark_Templar28 Yea,mine are gone as well. In my case they were part of the graphics pkg so all came off as one. I like the clean look. It has really good body lines, why cover them up with a bunch of stickers.
The raptor is better, however for the non flagships the Colorado does put up a fight. I kind of like the styling of the Tacoma and the price of the non flagship models seem reasonable until you consider the infamous Toyota tax and with its early problems, the reliability factor does not seem to matter as much. What kills the gm twins is the lack of an x drivetrain like a diesel, a hybrid or a v6 or I6. I have the Colorado Zr2 which I paid 56k out the door and I would've been willing to pay another 2-4k for a step up on either torque, hp, or mpg (I currently get 17mpg).
I want a ranger raptor, I have called every single dealership in southern california, the best offer I could find was 7,000 over MSRP. No dealership would budge to beat that price. I was able to secure a factory order but its a real shame all dealerships are drastically overcharging their midsize trucks
@@jdfleetguy28 how? Because I genuinely have no idea anymore. I tried everything I possibly could, the biggest problem I am having is that none of these dealerships even have allocations for factory orders to begin with
@@Doughnutscream you're definitely going to have to broaden your search area star branching out to another state if you're willing to fly there and drive it back or have it shipped. In my area on AutoTrader there are about a half dozen at MSRP you can buy off the lot if you just act fast
I love my Mojave Rides nice for a Jeep Bolstered seats Thick steering wheel Hydraulic bump stops Reinforced frame Better offset Cool fake hood scoop lol (needs hemi) Bypass front and rear fix shocks Sits a inch higher in the front than the Rubicon - put 35s on stock rims with no rub turning and off-road. Bought used because the new prices are insane, more payload would be nice but I haul bikes and pull a small pontoon, does fine. The hurricane motor is really needed not the dang 4XE.
Hoping you will be able to get a Ford Ranger Tremor in 2025 w/ the 2.7L V6. If you can get that for around $50K I think it will be a very popular truck.
I don't want an auto 4x. I am fairly sure I am more intelligent than my trucks are. I like my trucks, but I wouldn't ask either of them to babysit. I bought a Tremor last year partially because Toyota thought recovery hooks weren't that important. I probably spent too much (about 68k), but I also went with the Coyote and have no auto start-stop (Thank You Lord, that is such an annoying feature). MPG is pretty good as well. I was going to supercharge but the 20 mpg gave me pause so far.
I watch and look closely at his steering wheel every time Andres Colorado is in a video. I really can’t believe he hasn’t added the cruise control option. I don’t think he has. I know I would have added it or traded off the truck.
They didn’t include the supercharged Roush trucks that are backed by a factory warranty! When Roush did a Ranger it was tested at Baja against the competition and was the only one that still had its bed intact. No body ever talked about them and it was the closest to a Ranger raptor you could get in the states at the time. I owned a 2020 and it was fantastic off road the power was good and could be upgraded with a tune to give extra power 300+hp and torque 400lb +. I mean if it is backed by the factory warranty it should be included in the test. A friend of mine has a 4wheel drive Roush nitemare stock that beat a TRex even though the TRex has more horsepower. Of course if you can’t get that power to the ground it doesn’t matter how much power you have!
Great discussion. You have redeemed my faith in TFL's objectivity. I was wondering if those Toyota trips would slant your perspective, but you have no problem calling them out when needed. Prices, fuel economy, auto 4wd ECT. 💯👍
Ford will probably be the first to get out a PHEV midsize truck since they've already announced the PHEV Ranger for next year. Just hope we see it in NA sooner than later.
What I don't get is if the tacoma is rear or front wheel drive with the optional 4 high and 4 low??? I like this idea but only if rear wheel drive. That would be perfect to me.
A stock ZR2 and AT4X can take you to the top of the world. Not many stock vehicles have that capability Ford ranger has the best usable backseats out of all midsize. AT4X vs ZR2 the AT4X has a HuD and power passenger seat. Really don't think they are worth another 7k
I would think from an off roading perspective that the hybrid power systems would deliver better fuel economy and better off road performance with the additional torque provided with the electric motor. For me the extra money for the hybrid system would be worth it if milage and performance is enhanced. Imagine what you could do with a raptor with a hybrid system and pro-power on board. You could power your camp as if you were at home. No generators to carry taking up space!
The 4 high will CRAB. This means when in 4 high, the center differential is locked, making turns harder on dirt and very bad on pavement. Toyota makes vehicles with a limited slip center differential in the full time 4 wheel drive vehicles like the tacoma limited, lexus gx, or the new land cruiser. They do not make a Tacoma or a 4Runner with a full time 4 wheel drive with a limited slip (but lockable) center diff and a lockable rear differential. The new land cruiser and GX both have a lockable rear differential and a limited slip (but lockable) center differential. For the Tacoma and the 4 runner I believe that you can drive only in 2 wheel drive on the street. For example, in my lexus GX it is full-time 4 wheel drive. It is never in 2 wheel drive unless something breaks. The center differential is limited slip, meaning it allows the rear axle and front axle to rotate at different speeds to allow it to turn on dirt and pavement as easy as if it was 2 wheel drive. This allows a vehicle to have very good all wheel drive on roads that are partially cleared of snow or ice, and allows for decent acceleration on wet roads without spinning out a tire and going nowhere when trying to merge into traffic or turning sharp. When I go off road with it, i can make sharp turns on trails and still be in 4 wheel drive. If I need more traction, I can engage the center differential, but it may "crab" in sharp trail turns because the front and rear axles turn the same speed with the center differential locked. The Tacomas allow either 2 wheel drive, or 4 wheel drive with the center differential locked. You can't (shouldn't) drive it on the street with it in 4 wheel drive. This also means that turns are harder in 4 wheel drive off road. The new Lexus GX and land cruiser kept the selectable center differential locker and added rear lockers. So, people that want to off road a lot may be choosing between a new GX, Land Cruiser, or buying a tacoma limited with the selectable center locker (then adding an aftermarket rear locker) to get the most capability on and off road, and ignoring the new, less capable Trail Hunter. Overlanding in the U.S. is typically driving very far on paved roads to get to the location that you are then going to offroad. I'm in south TX. Most of the places I want to go to are states away. So I have to consider what to replace my 2012 GX with that is great on road, fuel efficient, and great off road, with good payload. The Toyota Land Cruiser had full time 4 wheel drive with a lockable center diff and a lockable rear diff. It has good road manners and is very fuel efficient. It also has a disconnectible front sway bar. It beats the Trailhunter models in payload and differentials. It beats the new GX in price, fuel efficiency, and ease of adding a lift. (GX has E-KDSS). If I bought a Land Cruiser, I could add a lift and tires and be done. If I wanted more cargo space, I would buy a new Tacoma Limited with the lockable center differential, add an aftermarket lockable rear differential, then add a lift and tires and have a more capable off roader than the new trailhunter and TRD Pro.
6 cylinder engines can sound good. When they’re old 4.0 liter V6s like the old 4Runner and second generation Xterra. Never owned a Jeep, maybe their old 4.0?
Can manufacturers start building small compact pickups again? Cough Toyota, Cough Nissan full size and midsize trucks have run their course its time for compact trucks again.
Hard to argue with the ZR2 for the best value to capability. Nobody can really compete. The pure, dedicated most capable? I agree with them on the Rubicon. But its reliability would limit to a wknd only vehicle. And I'm with Roman for the do it all and still be an excellent daily driver with mega miles on pavement, the Trailhunter. So many features the others lack. If you argue the Raptor is cheaper than you can argue the ZR2 is better than the Raptor because price is all that makes it better..
Ranger Raptor is the best in the segment. Best handling, most comfortable, best quality, and oh my god does it have the most performance. Gladiator sucks at everything but rock crawling, TNGA platform lost the one thing Toyota has going for its vehicles (“rEliAbILiTy”), and the Canyon/Colorado have zero quality or handling.
I completely disagree with the opinions of the Ranger Raptor's appearance. It's a good looking truck which is what I want. I don't need a truck that looks like it's going to murder me in my sleep for the fun of it which is sort of what the Toyotas look like with all their weird angles.
I watched a video posted by Full Boost on the Aussie Ranger Raptors and some company there that got one and completely disassembled it to scan it all to computer so they can make afternarket overlanding kit they also tuned it to 400kw and 750NM. God dam y'all those bloody Aussies are crazy hey.

That Ike Gauntlet is an amazing test. In one of the videos I think I heard that was your idea to name it the Ike Gauntlet. The 1200ft pounds of torque and 500hp is really what won me over. I was coming out of a 2020 Raptor so I wanted something fast that also had off road ability and an HD Truck. Due to your Power Wagon love I was looking at the Power Wagon until I found out it had no diesel option and no real payload. I had always kinda dismissed them because I was driving a Raptor. Personally I think the GMC Denali looks best and the new AT4X is amazing but when I ordered my F350 they hadn’t opened the order books for the AT4X HD trucks. I saw one in person and they do look great. I raced him from a stop and won the short race to 60mph by a truck length. I am still happy with my purchase and would do the same if I had it to do again but the GMC’s do look a bit better from the front. Hello from the Dallas, Texas area!
Can't really give a truck with IFS my seal of approval. Good for washboards, dirt roads, and wet pavement. I can do all that in a vw dune buggy for 10k.
Wranglers and Gladiators are too expensive IMO. And I for one don't care at all about the convertible ability of either. Realistically a very small percentage of people take the roof and doors off of either and they would probably sell nearly the same if they didn't have removable roofs and doors. It's the capability and style that sells them. IMO
All new vehicles are overpriced and dealers still trying to make them even MORE expensive. Used market is slightly less insane than new. If you don’t need to get a car/truck you should wait until things settle down
Tacoma have such crazy high performance stats so that it can outlast you. With a super powerful 278hp motor it can zoom thru trails and crawl thru malls with ease.

Taco and Bison looks aggressive but there engine got no juice while the Ranger Raptor looks low but the engine is a killer!💪💪💪Ranger Raptor all day!!!
I love you guys... you do a great job. But I wholeheartedly disagree with your take on the Ranger Raptor's styling. Give me stealth ALL DAY LONG. I could not care less if folks flock to my ride. I am a card carrying member of the "If You Know... You Know" club.
100% agree.
Agreed, I’ll even be taking the raptor decal off the bedside of mine.
@@Dark_Templar28 Yea,mine are gone as well. In my case they were part of the graphics pkg so all came off as one.
I like the clean look. It has really good body lines, why cover them up with a bunch of stickers.
Ranger is better. Especially the Raptor
Call around find an easy city to fly to and pick it up. You can find them at msrp
Why only searching CA, they are out there for less than that.
They can be shipped right to your door.
Seinfeld and Fraiser are my go to TV show Roman. It puts me a great mood watching them.
I would say the Ranger Raptor, but I still don't have mine that I ordered nearly a year ago. Come on Ford, build my dang truck already.
Dang, I picked mine up yesterday! Ordered it two weeks ago
I ordered the ranger raptor
lol...but Nathan, the mid-size trucks are lower than the full-size. A $65K Taco is much cheaper thsn a $100K TRX or Raptor R
I love my Mojave
Rides nice for a Jeep
Bolstered seats
Thick steering wheel
Hydraulic bump stops
Reinforced frame
Better offset
Cool fake hood scoop lol (needs hemi)
Bypass front and rear fix shocks
Sits a inch higher in the front than the Rubicon - put 35s on stock rims with no rub turning and off-road.
Bought used because the new prices are insane, more payload would be nice but I haul bikes and pull a small pontoon, does fine.
The hurricane motor is really needed not the dang 4XE.
How dependable is the 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat 2.7 turbo 4x4?
How much rough stuff can it take?
Midsize GMC Canyon
Any info if Ford is gonna come out with a TREMOR package for the RANGER ? ? ?
Let's just say it together 1, 2 , 3....".there is alot to talk about"....lol😂 I thought Andrey was gonna say he got cruise control 😂😂
I watch and look closely at his steering wheel every time Andres Colorado is in a video.
I really can’t believe he hasn’t added the cruise control option. I don’t think he has. I know I would have added it or traded off the truck.
You can get a Maverick XLT Tremor for $35k. Still pretty close to a Ranger XLT 4x4 with the rear locker at $42k.
The Tacoma is rear wheel drive until you put it in 4h or 4l.
Great idea Nathan! Hopefully the Vulcan cannon will be standard on the Raptor in 2025.
A stock ZR2 and AT4X can take you to the top of the world. Not many stock vehicles have that capability
Ford ranger has the best usable backseats out of all midsize.
AT4X vs ZR2 the AT4X has a HuD and power passenger seat. Really don't think they are worth another 7k
3:48 FACTS
Pricing is so different just across the border (Canada). Ranger Raptor and TRD pro is the same price 82K.
82k Canadian or USD? if Canadian, you're saying I can get a Raptor in Canada for 59k USD?
Had to wear sunglasses to watch this video because of the extremely bright 😎 shoes 👟 lol
In canada trailhunter is 7k more than the trd pro
You can get an aev canyon for around 60-63
Can someone explain what Roman means when the 4High will crap?
Why on planet Earth are pickup trucks not come with standard the all wheel drive option??????!!!!!!!!!
What shoes is Roman wearing in this video?
They are Sketchers... Have the same ones in bright Yellow.
The Zr2 is the better off road truck for the money You even get ventilated seats which the raptor does not have
is this group of three going to fill the hole left by Jeremy, James, and Hammond?
I completely disagree with the opinions of the Ranger Raptor's appearance. It's a good looking truck which is what I want. I don't need a truck that looks like it's going to murder me in my sleep for the fun of it which is sort of what the Toyotas look like with all their weird angles.
Best vehicles for people overcompensating for a lack of height and length.
1 hr, 12 mins of Roman complaining? No Thx!
AT4X without the AEV.
Thanks!
Anything from Ram in the midsize segment?
No
I wish. Bring back the Dakota.
Roman ❤️’s Toyota
Nathan ❤️’s his power wagon and RAM trucks but drives a Hyundai, confusing.
Andrea ❤️ unbiased facts.
Who can you trust most?
I like the Ranger Raptor - AND beef jerky too.
AND the AT4X
And the Nissan Frontier.
Maybe Tommy is the one who you can trust
@@NathanDAdlen LOL, beef jerky is good! You are right Tommy and also Case are pretty straightforward too, it’s not that you aren’t and to be fair we all have tendencies to lean a certain direction, I am sure we vote alike and you are funny. I like the Ford HD Trucks, you get all the information needed to really know what’s going on with the truck and they are fast, real fast for a big truck.
In fact and in no small part because of TFL I ordered and finally received a: 2024 Ford F350 SRW HO 6.7 Platinum Tremor to tow a 2024 Brinkley 5th wheel RV it’s 42’ long and 18k pounds fully loaded.
The most important thing of all is, we aren’t taking any of this with us when we die. I hope you have certainty and know where you are going after. Jesus is the only way 😉.
Hello from the Dallas, Texas area!
@@Captain-Awesome Thank you for the kind words. Yup. As we’ve witnessed over the years - Ford power ain’t no joke
Hands down Colorado bison
A HURRICANE GLADIATOR would be more than a RAM RHO
Colorado has a second recall. We'll see if they have to stop selling them because of it
left my computer on and came back to see an episode of The View on
Can't really give a truck with IFS my seal of approval. Good for washboards, dirt roads, and wet pavement. I can do all that in a vw dune buggy for 10k.
why no small trucks? US safety standards vs. size, A pillars now have to be as thick as your thigh to pass.
Overlanding is a rich man's game. It is starting to readjust to regular people prices hence the going out of business Earth Cruisers.
Raptor R bar none
@@RRAPTOR24 thanks I've been awake since 2pm yesterday.
IMO
Ranger Raptor needs a bigger gas tank. 280miles and the light comes on SUCKS
All new vehicles are overpriced and dealers still trying to make them even MORE expensive.
Used market is slightly less insane than new. If you don’t need to get a car/truck you should wait until things settle down
The things that matter ford delivers on a lot more the the others for sure
You can blame the EPA rules concerning wheelbase to mileage ratios for the lack of small real pick-ups.
Don't we not get many of these due to the CHICKEN TAX?
Can't you change the temp by voice command, like the Broncos? Way too much complaining about minute details.
Rant, rave, but the bottom line is too high. My budget too low, no way around the banks interest rates.😎
just tried highroad for my 2018 raptor, and website "unable to match you with a top dollar buyer at this time"
You can't compare a v6 to a v8 period
🔥🔥🔥
Where is ram in all this? Stellantis is killing the brand.
Trucks are suffering as much shrinkflation as candy bars.
Tacoma have such crazy high performance stats so that it can outlast you. With a super powerful 278hp motor it can zoom thru trails and crawl thru malls with ease.
Ford has had more recalls than any other automaker for the past three years. Can’t trust their quality and longevity any more. Something to think about before you pay that outrageous price.
Pretty much all American vehicles are unreliable overpriced things now
FORD Found On Road Dead
Cheap jeep wackinator
Toyota always copies Ford. Now Toyota has Fox 🦊 suspension? What a surprise. Still the Taco can't beat the T if it tried....
Why Roman always have something negative to say about Fords I you were supposed to be and automotive journalist but you sound like a Ford hater
This genre of trucks is utterly pointless for every day use
This would be better without Nathan. He is far too negative about everything.
Blood boiling mark up on Ranger Raptor!
Even if the you didn’t factor in price, the Colorado ZR2 Bison 🦬 is another league than its competitors.
