Probably shouldn't tell this but I saw them in concert when I was 15 with some friends. One of those friends found out where The Who was staying and after the concert, we went there. Me and my friend sat on a bed talking to Roger Daultry and Pete Townsend! My Mama's probably turning over in her grave! We were harmless but sure did have fun!!! I'm 71 now but SO thankful for all those memories!
That’s awesome. Better than when I saw them in the mid 90s when Pete later called the tour “who on ice”. Hahah. Pete was on acoustic half the show if not more. Still rocked and had a blast.
I saw The Who open for Herman's Hermits in 1967, along with the Blues Magoos. Speaking of old, that was 57 years ago, so long ago that all I remember about the Who was them trashing their instruments, causing sparks to fly and a little fire on the stage. Good times!

The Who are an English rock band formed in London in 1964. Their classic lineup consisted of lead vocalist Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century. Keith John Moon was an English musician who was the drummer for the rock band the Who. Regarded as one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock music, he was noted for his unique style of playing and his eccentric, often self-destructive behaviour. Moon moved back to London from Los Angeles in 1978, dying that September from an overdose of clomethiazole, a drug intended to treat or prevent symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. Like many famous musicians, songwriters, and artists in the 60's and 70's they abused alcohol, drugs, and smoked a lot to their demised. Some who survived today like Robert Plant. Stevie Nicks. Eric Clapton. Jimmy Page. Pete Townsend. Roger Daltry. They express their addictions in interview vividly. Everyone has their poisons.....as a sage said to me at one time...choose your poisons wisely or your poison will choose you to poison.

Who Are You is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Who, released on 18 August 1978 by Polydor Records in the United Kingdom and on 21 August 1978 by MCA Records in the United States. I remembered that The Who was out of the public eye...they weren't popular because of Disco and then Punk music was coming in as a backlash against Disco music. But they was Queen, Kansas, Boston, The Doobie Brothers, Supertramp, Journey and these new wave of music rock bands the many of us was listening to and then The Who came out with this song, Who Are You and people went NUTS!!! the album climbed up the record charts...the single climbed up the Billboard charts and The Who was reborn and people couldn't wait to see them in concert. These clips you have been showing with The Who are all from a 1979 film called "The Kids Are All Right," and the reasons it looks so good is because it's on 35mm film, not video. The film was nicely transferred to DVD and that is what you are seeing. Good sound, and image, all done in a studio. Videos of the era were not technically high definition, this is sharp because it's on film. I suggest you watch the entire movie documentary called "The Kids are Alright" to see more of The Who, and get an idea of their music and story from the early 60s to 1979. I first saw this movie in 1979 at a drive-in with a cheap little speaker hanging on the window. But I was still blown away by them.
I like watching bands in the studio as well. The one with the Rolling Stones listening to their recording of Wild Horses is pretty cool and it's on UA-cam.
This is The Who’s sound in the 70’s. They were much more punk in the 60’s, before the synth, but I just love the sound they’ve developed here. Saw them in San Diego early 80’s. What a show! They rock the house! ❤ RIP Keith Moon and John Entwistle
My best friend & I got to see The Who live in '96. We were juniors in high school & were introduced to their music via Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) vocalizing how this band was such a huge influence on him. That night was incredible & I'm so grateful to have had that experience. The Who set the tone for Rock worldwide in my opinion.
Drummer Keith Moon was a Beast. At a California concert in 1973, Moon was on large amounts of drugs and booze and passed out on stage mid-show. In 2018, when Halpin passed away, the Who's website posted a tribute to him. RIP Keith Moon, Scott Halpin and bassist John Entwhistle.
The Who, fabulous group, everything a group should be, loud, in your face, wild party animals and so talented. First burst onto the general pop scene in 1965, and still making music. RIP Keith and John.
I love the 60’s and 70’s music because it encompasses my childhood and teen years! I know every word to these songs because we didn’t have the distractions of computers, cell phones or internet to steal our attention. Music was such a huge part of our lives. Plus, no auto tune back then, so what you heard wasn’t “fixed” by technology. The best music era, in my opinion! It was REAL music.
Yeah I think it's the first band I bought a disc after Pink Floyd... And when I finally got Tommy at 14 or 15, I was in heaven... See me, feel me, touch me, heal me...

The Kinks, The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, OMD, etc. (I feel frustrated not to be able to list them all, but I think you guessed part of the unmentioned ones, the ones I didn't Talk Talked about :) ).

You gotta watch the movie or listen to the album “Tommy”. The first rock opera. Matter of fact, reacting to that for your 100k celebration would be just about perfect.

I met the creator of the Moog synth. When Japan killed the US market with their cheap synths, he went on to manufacture printed circuit boards for anyone who wanted them, my company wanted them. He was located in Buffalo NY. Awesome fellow who loved the fact that I knew who he was and we spent a few hours talking about his Moog and Mini Moog synthesizer.
Townsend is a musical genius. He’d build soundscape loops to play within songs. The Who have two rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia. Brilliant composer
The Who have many great songs, but my favorites come from their early live performances - Live at Leeds etc. Recorded at a perfect time when youthful energy collided with amazing musicianship, creating a raw and powerful sound that was unmatched. Young Man Blues, Amazing Journey/Sparks, Magic Bus and my favorite My Generation are all killer tracks. If you want a visual, try Young Man Blues from the Isle of Wight.
MollyBoy..."The Who....Live At Leeds" one of the greatest live albums ever made...the raw energy is amazing...Try "Magic Bus" or "Summertime Blues" it will knock your socks off !!!!
Really liking your reactions. I saw the Who three times. They made some seminal records earlier in their career. I think you would LOVE “My Generation. “ it gives a voice to the anger and frustration of the youth culture that fuelled the music in the sixties.
You gotta watch them perform A QUICK ONE WHILE HE'S AWAY from the Rolling Stones' Rock n Roll Circus in 1968. They were so young, angry, and amazing. Right before they recorded their rock opera Tommy and hit it big.
Roger Daltry the lead singer brought out a solo album which had the marvellous ‘I’m Free’, on it. To this day it means so much to me in fact I’m going to listen to it now! Thank you so much for really enjoying the music of our lifetime. Keep on rocking.
This (along with the live performances of Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again you've already reacted to) was filmed by Jeff Stein for his '79 documentary film The Kids Are Alright... hence the high quality.
Sadly, take a look at the album cover for Who Are You, Keith is sitting on a chair that’s backwards and has stencilled on it ‘Not To Be Taken Away’. Three weeks after the release of the album, he died.😢
The Who: a huge band. I became a fan in 1977 and today at 60, I still am. It's great to see a young person discovering this band, it's just happiness. I wish you great discoveries because their career is great, including their solo careers. Some suggestions: "Love reign o'er me" from 1973, "Young man blues" (Isle of Wight in 1970), "A quick one while he's away" (live 1968) or "Eminence front" (1982). Thank you for sharing, your good humor. Your videos are quality. A pleasure to see your reactions.
There are NO BAD WHO SONGS!!! :) ALL BANGERS!! THIS one is FIRE, to me!! LOVE THAT OPENING guitar (Pete Townshend).....Moon's DRUMS!! The Who has amazing songs. Incredible band! Love Reign Oer Me is goosebump inducing ❤
Keith Moon one of the greats🥁🤘
In the Top 5 greatest rock songs ever!
Thanks for hitting this!
The Who was the first Album I bought at 10 years old. I love them. They rock.
Yeah I think it's the first band I bought a disc after Pink Floyd... And when I finally got Tommy at 14 or 15, I was in heaven...
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me...
@ Love Pink Floyd..
@@michellenew5621 I love Syd (and his solo work), and I love over all the "golden arc" from Dark Side to The Wall, 4 "bests albums in space time".
UK gave us one of the bests music ever... The list of bands I love from UK is quite long... The Kinks, The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, OMD, etc. (I feel frustrated not to be able to list them all, but I think you guessed part of the unmentioned ones, the ones I didn't Talk Talked about :) ).
@@michellenew5621 BTW, I just noticed your name, I'm French, and, of course we know "Michelle Ma Belle", but do you know that a French song has been written "Michelle" (of course, inspired by the Beatles one), it's sang by "Gerard Lenormand"... It's a memory recall of an old "highschool crush". You might want to listen to it, at least once :).
Bests.
"Together well..."
@ thank you
I love a LOT of british bands, but my top 3 will always be: Pink Floyd, The Who and The Kinks.
Zeppelin ,Stones and Beatles too. So many great bands out of Britain
@@RockinMamaT As I wrote in a couple of comments. TO MANY, the list is too long to be able to mention every one. The Smiths, The Cure, OMD, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Talk Talk, Bronskie Beat, etc. Oh- Radiohead, Blur, etc. Oh- Yazoo, The Stranglers, etc. Oh- ... It never ends :).
You gotta watch the movie or listen to the album “Tommy”. The first rock opera. Matter of fact, reacting to that for your 100k celebration would be just about perfect.
We love British Rock too. Many of us started with the Beatles, then the door was swung wide open and we're still listening today? The late 60's Rock was all about creating new sounds on your records. The Who was good at that.
✌️😁❤️👍🎶🎶🎶
DAMN
That drum kit is spectacular
🔥 💥 🔥
The Who has SO many iconic songs.. I look forward to you reacting to them all!
A great live video of The Who is 'Young Man Blues' at the Isle of Wight Festival, 1970. You will not be disappointed.
I have heard that another famous Singer and friend was once asked bout Keith Moon, and he said "Keith Moon is a really interesting bunch of guys"
“Those parts of the song” are called “interludes”
I am sooooo ready for this!! To rewind or not to rewind…that is the question. lol!
You’re doing a great job! It’s a lot of fun to watch you take this journey into the 60s and 70s. I too feel privileged to have grown up during that time.
Yes to “Behind Blue Eyes!“
Liked BEFORE the video dropped. 🤔🤪🤣
Me 2‼️
Me3 ❤
'WHO are You? 'WHO, 'WHO, - 'WHO, 'WHO? What a song🎵 the Who in 1969 released the Album Tommy my first WHO Album and l loved it, they played some of it at Woodstock 1969 but my favorite that started my WHO adventure was "My Generation" theme song of the Baby Boomers. Tommy the Movie had Eric Clapton he was the Preacher and performed "Eyesight to the Blind", you should react to Sir Elton John "Pinball Wizard" and Tina Turner "Acid Queen" "Tommy" Great movie and Album😅 Peace 😊✌️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary 💃 😉 🕺
Great Reaction 👍👍👍👍 to all 4 of todays good choices.
Love this song!
Thanks for doing this one Mollyboy! Next one to try is the first big hit from them, My Generation.
They looked happy
Synthesizers were brand new in the early 70s. Try Emerson Lake & Palmer, Lucky Man for the Moog.
There's a documentary about Moog. Interesting story.
I have seen them in concert several times and they are great! ❤❤❤❤
Yay! Rock & Roll! - getting close to 100k!!!!
Townsend is a musical genius. He’d build soundscape loops to play within songs. The Who have two rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia. Brilliant composer
Treat yourself to eminence front! It's the chef's kiss
@@dougieyou Magic Bus is awesome!
Absolutely. Love "Young Man Blues" too.
Love, Reign o'er Me
Song by The Who
This (along with the live performances of Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again you've already reacted to) was filmed by Jeff Stein for his '79 documentary film The Kids Are Alright... hence the high quality.
Kieth Moon is the drummer. He was genuinely crazy in a good way. Legendary for trashing hotel rooms. Kieth and Joe Walsh did an epic room trash.
THIS INTRO IS MAGIC and hypnotic.....
Sadly, take a look at the album cover for Who Are You, Keith is sitting on a chair that’s backwards and has stencilled on it ‘Not To Be Taken Away’. Three weeks after the release of the album, he died.😢
😢
Another classic!! ❤
I'm looking forward to this one Molly boy your love it
The Who: a huge band.
For a long time the Who held the record for the loudest concert ever
could be wrong but I heard they invented the marshal stack?
@ it sounded like it !
I Believe that. When I saw them in 1975, they broke all DB Level records for a concert in my city. Record still stands.
There are NO BAD WHO SONGS!!! :) ALL BANGERS!! THIS one is FIRE, to me!! LOVE THAT OPENING guitar (Pete Townshend).....Moon's DRUMS!! OMG....Roger Daltrey's VOCALS...and, of COURSE: John Entwistle's BASS WORK ("Thunderfingers")!! LOVE the LYRICS - you should listen to the studio cut of this - this performance....hmmmm....they seem "off" to me, at the beginning....but, these guys are TOPS!!! ENJOY, MOLS!!!
I recommend THE WHO'S "Can You See the Real Me?" from the Quadrophenia album.
This is the best one of the day! Loved seeing this candid studio version, somehow I’ve never seen it although I’ve listened to this song a whole heaping ton! Keep reacting to them and we will keep watching
Ah, if it’s the studio recording of them being filmed, it’s awesome, more Tomfoolery and epic musicianship! 😃
bro.......
1978, heard this number on the radio a few times and i was HOOKED for life ‼
RINGO Starr ( Beatles) his son is the newest drummer for The Who!!
That is cool
Zac!
My fav by these guys
