Really like you talking about sleeping comfortably and different sleep positions. Some bike packers give them impression they lie down on their back like a plank fall asleep instantly and never move a muscle all night yet still wake up refreshed
Hey Robin, yeah I know what you mean. If you’ve seen some of our videos we are quite open about having a poor nights sleep on occasions. I’m a side sleeper and I’m debating a new, thicker mat. I sleep OK on my Klymit mat, but wonder whether I’d sleep better on something more luxurious. We camped at the beach one time, it rained all night, wind blew hard and we had very little sleep, but in the morning we rode back 40 odd miles. Bit of breakfast, pedaling and keeping each other laughing we got through it, but it’s not all plain sailing. All the best Jamie 👍🏕️
17:50 That hurt so much to watch, I could never throw my bike on the drivetrain side!! :o Nice Video otherwise, I don't see wild camping bikepacking Loadouts that often on youtube!
@@jonfrance7201 They are Rab Microlite jackets. They have wash instructions, can remember the procedure, but it’s fairly simple. We have no link to Rab, we just really rate these jackets 👍
Cheers, thanks for having a watch. We’re no survivalists, we go out camping to enjoy it and have fun. If it means carrying more kit, that’s what we do 👍🏕️🤣🍺
Top work lads. Tried the bivvy bags but prefer a fast and light tent. Finding good tents are not much bulkier or heavier and you can hide when it lashes it down as it always does in our country
My favourite camp is under a tarp, but I like to keep things fresh and change what I use. Wether it tent, bivi, hooped bivi, tarp, all good as long as I’m out camping. Cheers mate 👍🏕️🍺
If it’s a sure dry thing, then I’m happy with the hooped, but I’ve always got my others on standby…ironically my msr (the sausage tent) is lighter than a Bivvy bag, a hooped Bivvy or a good size tarp, but I feel it dullens the experience. I’m no purest, but I do like to be as close to wild as I can 👍
Packing soft compressible items in the seat post bag is key. stops it bending like a banana if its just fastened with straps. I have a mil-tec bivvy with a side zip and studs and a face cover that velcro's over the hood, its heavy but you can get away without using a ground sheet.
Even my Rab winter bag squashes down really small in the seat bag. Yes it’s the key for it to stop it bending and dropping onto the tyre. I like the bivi bag, my hooped bivi is more versatile though. Cheers Peter
You make it looks so easy! I struggle & stress trying to pack everything. And mine aint the lightest either. All in all, a very helpful video chaps👍 You'll have to leave me one those mugs somewhere as a challenge to find Jamie. And in return I'll leave you a tenner for the mug & a tenner on top for a few cans. Can't have that scallywag, Paul buying all the beers🍺🍺🍺
We do it so much mate it just becomes second nature. With the warmer weather, here’s hoping it gets easier. The winter kit obviously takes up more space and is heavier. That’s a plan, when we’re out in a place I know you frequent, I’ll come up with a treasure hunt! 👍🍺🤣🏕️
My secret weapon is lists! I start in the week….anything and everything goes on. Being organised is important. Obviously it often goes tits up, but having kit ready for weather changes and contingency arrangements are important. We do this for fun. If it becomes boring or a constant suffer fest then it’s not worth doing. 👍
@@JamiedoesWildBikepacking why hang it at all it just a gimmick ..it get full of dirty you have to use valuable water to clean it to use it .. water the most precious resource we carry when touring

Always make me laugh. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Cheers mate, this was supposed to be a serious educational video 🤣🏕️🚵♀️
Nice one boys, funny and informative. Those Rab jackets look good. I will be binge watching a few more videos soon 👍
Nice one cheers, there’s quite a back catalogue! Thanks for getting through it! 🤣👍🏕️
Oh yeah what model jackets are those by the way and do they wash easily?

Hey Jamie great vid it’s good to see what you can carry on your bike and how it’s packed
Cheers Ron, as the weather gets better we will have less to carry. It ended up, we didn’t need second coats or such warm sleeping bags. 👍🍺🏕️
@@JamiedoesWildBikepacking don’t look like you carry much now

So Funny you guys 😂😂😂thanks for sharing… is there a lit of condensation in the Bivis?
🤣 cheers. A bivi bag is less ventilated than a hooped so yes a little, but not much to worry about 👍
Always fucking funny! And informative!
Sounds like a win! Cheers mate 🤣👍🍺🍺🏕️
Cool setup just get rid of that cup on the saddle
But where else would I hang it?? ☕️

My thoughts exactly. Why be uncomfortable to save a few grams.
I am looking into a new sleeping mat. The Klymit has served me well, but being a side sleeper I’m looking at a thicker more luxurious pad
