    Great to see your first day on the potato diet the biggest thing I have noticed besides the fact you have lost so much weight on your journey is your whole attitude has changed you seem so positive and happier . I can’t get enough of your posts you are so inspiring. I am 70 this year and have had trouble with food addiction as far back as I can remember. I don’t eat meat fish eggs or dairy but I still have a problem around processed food so I am taking a leaf out of your book and giving this way of eating 100% . Thank you for your inspiration 😊

    fave things..If I am hungry I eat!!! no calorie counting or portion control!! love spuds they are so satisfying!!! simple and easy!!..every morning I boil a huge pot of spuds..no peeling...and roast a few sweet potato and eat them until done over a coupla days.....occasionally sprinkle on chopped spinach/kale or other low starch veggies , but not very often!! use ketchup, BBQ sauce or sweet chili sauce and salt and pepper. Day 15 and I could see me eating this way for a very long time. also..no more painful constipation.!!! i could go on.....

    Potatoes are awesome. Delicious and nutritious. I am eating some oil free baked oven fries as I watch this. Oven fries are my favorite post workout snack. Although potatoes are really healthy by themselves; you can easily boost the nutritional value by adding dark leafy greens like kale. Don't forget to take a B12 supplement.
    I wish you luck on your potato diet. I have lost 60 pounds so far on a vegan, low fat, starch bases diet. I am going to subscribe so I can keep up on your progress.

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 років тому +4

      Just remember it's not about weight loss, it's about health. My weight loss is simply a byproduct of getting healthy, whereas a low carb diet while being good for weight loss, doesn't have the same overall health benefits. Also I had success n losing weight on low carb in the past but no chance of sustaining it in the long term. Good luck to you!

      Spud Fit I can understand. I lost a lot of weight going vegan and gained it back in law school. I was also a teacher and went to school at night. I have a hard time looking back because I feel a sense of loss.
      I love this video because you (and your therapeutic and teaching experience makes you a good issue spotter) pin pointed the issue and you had the courage to do something about it.
      I’ve been trying to do a potato reset all month. I’m eating mostly potatoes but must eat out as I travel a bit for work (locally). I’m grateful for you, and people like you, who are honest and courageous. I know you’ve heard it before but I’m relatively new to your channel. I found you after you finished your year. I also have an addiction to food and am slowly over coming that with healthy eating and I'm down 83 lbs . I feel my diet get very boring I can only imagine that yours will feel that way much quicker than mine did but I do send you good vibes and blessings and well wishes for your journey :)

    I thought it was interesting that you don’t use oil or butter but you use sauces and maple syrup. Is there anything wrong with using a little oil or butter? What’s your thoughts on egg based mayonnaise instead of sauces?

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  Рік тому

      Oil and butter are much more calorie dense than sauces or maple syrup because they are mostly fat. Same goes for mayo.

    What a challenge indeed! Looking forward to following your journey! I'm currently doing a 30 day potato cleanse, but have included other non-starchy veg. Are you planning to take any multi-vitamins, B12 or anything to make up any micro nutrients you can't get from the almighty spud?

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  8 років тому +2

      Yes it's a huge challenge and at the start I wasn't at all confident but now I feel pretty good about it, not that it will be easy but I think I can do it... Good luck with your cleanse, I'm sure you'll feel great at the end! Yes I am supplementing B12, other than that I'm eating a few sweet potatoes too which means pretty much everything else is covered. When I have mash, which is once every couple of days, I use a calcium fortified soy milk too.

    i eat my potatoes, peeled, boiled for an hour, with kale, also, boiled for an hour, and the water that i cook it with. pretty sure it's changed my life, mostly for the better. AND I"M SKINNY!!. Never been fat a day in my life. it's given me -- THE OPPOSITE -- the energy to build muscle. I could do zero pull ups before. Now I can do six. I tried for years and could not build muscle to save my life. always skin and bones. THIS DIET doesn't only work for fat people. Also for people like me who have VERY VERY HARD time gaining muscle.

      I try to do two hours of exercise most days. I don't think that matters for weight loss though as I lost 10kg in the first month with no exercise at all. I just do it because I enjoy it and I need to burn some energy :-)

      None of those things clog arteries so there’s no reason why they can’t be used in small quantities but part of the benefit of mono food diet is to simplify food keep it plain and unadorned because it’s often all the extras that is what we crave.
