• 3001: THE FINAL ODYSSEY
That was editing GENIUS.
Thank you. I love editing.
I’m re-reading 2001,a Space Oddssey. What I’ve just read in the prologue, this book 📕 was started in 1964!That was before I ever entered grade 🏫 school!I thought 💭 that was pretty 😍 amazing!Too,the ‘real astronaughts’were mentioned doing their space race to the stars.⭐️ Before the 1969 astronaught’s went to the moon,🌖 they saw this movie.🎥 😊
I watched" Space Odyssey 2001"and "Space Odyssey 2010 " and I think we need a third movie "Third Odyssey 2061 " .
I’ve been thinking the same-but only since 1986 when the novel was published.
I remember going to the library back in the late 80s to read this book. Arthur C Clarke was an amazing writer.
One of the best.
Wait... Is there Odyssey 3?
(Not a sci-fi reader here, just a movie viewer)
@@actf9480 Yep, and theres also a 4th one, which is the final of the series
@@martian_2876 Thanks!
Read also "Rendezvous With Rama". Just as great as the Space Odyssey stories. I wish they would make a movie of this.
I am diggin' it dude...I'd pay $20 bucks to see this. I'm sure Spielberg would like a crack at 2061 before he buys the farm.....
Indeed I agree, I refer to JJ as Captain Lens Flare because he ruined Star Trek.
What?! Don't you want to see the monolith implode in a shower of lens flares?!! and then a tardis appears and there's a car chase, ten cars and a tardis and they're all outrunning zombies, yeah Zombies, and there's a submarine but it's in SPACE because the Earth went through a wormhole, Sir Richard Burton has to fight zombie nazis in a canoe until the Lion with all the Tentacles shows up ... Aaach, Aht'll be GgReeeeet!

A mish mash of science fiction movies edited into a great fan trailer!
My hat is off to you, Sir!
2024 here. Don't forget the book 3001....Great reading.
I made a trailer for 3001 on my channel
The hardest thing about following this series is keeping your grasp on what year it is. 2061 in 2029.... 2001 in 1968... 2010 in 1984, but Orwell's 1984 in 1949.
We should start a new kind of noodle soup, numbers instead of letters.
A 1984 film was made in 1984 though.
The novel was meant to be a rearranging of the year 1948
@@KaosNova2 Hadn't heard that.
There are at least 4 or 5 versions on 1984: 1) in 1956 with Edmond O'Brien 2) 2 versions made for tv by the BBC in the 50's? 3) a theatre play for tv also in the 1950's 4) 1984-made in 1984, lol with John Hurt. It was made during the same months as the story. Then there are similar or variant films such as Metropolis (1927), Logan's Run, THX-1138, Blade Runner among many others. It's more than enough to make my head spin 😵
Well done! Now I want to pick up "2061" and re-read it.
Me too! In fact, I have it right here in front of me as I was randomly going through HP Lovecraft, and Robert E. Howard.
Why? It was awful. Worst of the 4
I would like the King of sequels Christopher Nolan to direct 2061 & 3001 & use the same team he used on Interstellar, the result would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E ! ! !
He made one good sequel and one terrible one
@@starseed96 lol Batman is not Nolan’s best example. Way to throw the low-blow though
@@scottyjbd What makes him a "king of sequels"? Has he even made any sequels besides batman?
@@starseed96 hahaha I never said he was a “king of sequels” I just agree with the same team from Interstellar
Only thing, in Interstellar, the woman should be given a lesser role. She endangered the mission at the scene where the astronaut said, " those are not mountains, theyre waves..." She was thinking with her hormones, not her intellect- and it got a man killed.
Why was 2061 never made?! This was really well done but it’s clips from about 6 different sci-fi movies.
GREAT JOB!! Just finished rereading 2061 and this was BRILLIANT. Gave me chills.
Brings back memories of being 8 years old and watching 2001 when it was first released on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I remember my 9 year old movie complaining because he didn't understand why the Monolith was was making the primitive humans so excited. When the bone weapon was thrown up into the sky and become a spaceship, I understood. My poor friend only complained more. I became the Science Fiction reader. He became an athlete ...
If only Odyssey Three could have been made into a movie.
I take consolation in the upcoming release of Rendezvous with Rama. That was a novel I really enjoyed as a teen.
I was like your 9-year-old companion when I saw the movie in ‘68. Didn’t see it again until 1975, when I was in high school. That time it _really_ connected with me and has ever since.
God I wish somebody would make this movie and do it well.
Denis Villeneuve, Alfonso Cuaron, David Fincher, or Gareth Edwards.
Especially with Kier Dullea’s return as Bowman even for 3001 and they can have the ILM do the deep fake of younger Bowman
@@kapitanleutnant1 How old is Keir Dullea?

If i could trust Hollywood to create a 2061 movie, i would be all for it. However i don't trust Hollywood so i hope they keep their greedy, talentless hands off this. Perhaps if it was an anime from Japan with no Hollywood involvement i would be interested. Perhaps if Katsuhiro Ôtomo or Satoshi Kon did the writing and with Kôji Morimoto directing. Memories was a good piece of sci-fi anime which would fit in with the 2061 vibe
Denis Villeneuve would be a great fit for not only this but also for a 3001 movie adaptation.
If not WB should consider either David Fincher or Alfonso Cuaron.
Just my opinion.
He said when he's finished with dune he's going to do Rama next
@@bryfunkenstein I certainly hope so.
I'd love a Rama film.
Denis Villeneuve was exactly my thought when I watched this trailer. He would do fantastic in adapting 2061. Looking forward to Rama. Cheers
CONCUR. Oblivion is the best sci fi in decades, he would get the mix of real film effects and clever use of ai cgi, a mix of Ex Machina would be incredible, Iceland Norway. Maybe Antarctica would also make perfect backdrops
I LOVE this!! It makes my mouth water for what might have been. I wish they had struck when the iron was hot and made 2061 as soon as the book came out, back in 1986. Back then, 2010 was a hit film and the whole cast was still alive and young; Roy Scheider could have returned as Heywood Floyd; they could even have had an opening segment detailing the Leonov's return to Earth, the death of Dr. Chandra, and Dr. Floyd's injury.
My only criticism of this trailer--no, criticism is the wrong word; you could only work with what was available. Let's say observation. The ship design for the Universe and the Galaxy is all wrong. It's not just that it doesn't match Clarke's description, it's that it can't do what it needs to do in the story. The Universe and the Galaxy generate artificial gravity not by centrifugal force, but by constant acceleration. The constant acceleration is the way the Universe is able to streak across the Solar System in only two weeks to come to the Galaxy's rescue. I think the closest sci-fi spaceship I've seen to what Clarke described was the Palomino in The Black Hole.
Anyway, considering what "SyFy" did to Childhood's End, I don't think I want them to make movies of 2061 and 3001. If they're going to do it, do it right--make big-budget theatrical motion pictures with really talented people at the helm who care about the material. Tom Hanks and Ron Howard come to mind.
Thanks Collin, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it's not accurate by any means. I was just trying to get as much plot points in as possible with the footage I could find to tell the story in trailer form. Especially Halley's Comet and old Floyd. I know the giant Monolith (Great wall) should be side on and there is no Hal in the book but that was just artistic license. Anyway thanks for watching my trailer.
Tom Hanks as Floyd? Seems good. Howard may like the challenge enough to try to imitate Kubrick; for damn sure Spielberg can't do it, and he HAD the chance (A.I.) I'd say Ridley Scott; Trumbull is dead. The people behind Gerry Anderson "MIGHT" be able to fake it a bit (Space: 1999), but they'll need the whole crew and I'm sure some of them are gone, too.
@@maxvideoentertainment8706 tbh i was trying to read the book but at some point i was surprised that chandra died from heartbreak
Christopher Nolan!
I know this is just a bunch of scenes spliced together from several different movies but it's still good for what it is. But ill be honest, 2061 was just a disappointment of a book and I didn't even bother with 3001. From what I heard, Clarke slowly stripped out all the more fantastical elements of the series in 3001, such as Bowman being just digitized by the monolith rather than being turned into a space-time energy being like in 2001 and 2010, and the removal of all FTL capabilities of the monolith.
I said this in a reply to a comment, but I'm also putting it IN a comment:
The ONLY one who could do this movie properly is Christopher Nolan, because he'd use practical effects, and as little CGI as possible.
Actually, I'd trust Nolan to do a movie version of all 4 books; yes, including a REMAKE of 2001 that's as close to the BOOK as possible. Kubrick's 2001 is a MASTERPIECE, but there are several differences from the book (namely, Saturn, instead of Jupiter) that basically SCREAM for Nolan to do it.
2010 the movie is actually pretty close to the book (with only a couple differences), but a Nolan remake would be pretty cool, too.
Nolan doing 2061 and 3001 would be AWESOME.
I really hope they do 2061 and 3001 both were excellent books.
Has there ever been a greater work of science fiction than the 2001 Space Odyssey trilogy? I still get a thrill from seeing the film and reading the books!
There's 4 books.
Awesome, I even wanna read the book after this!
“All right, all right...I’m on Europa.”
Kubricks gone..no sequels should be made
I loved the Europa warning. It is one of my favorite quotes from the series. There were books between 2010 and 2061. I wonder why further adaptations were not made and if that content will be reflected in a new 2061 movie?
There's a 3001 book too
There were no books between 2010 and 2061, just the four in total finishing in 3001.
Great homemade vid. AC predicted that people will be carrying computers in their pockets back in the 60s. Visionary.
Read the whole serries anf one word. Magnificent
I fell in love with 2001: A Space Odyssey. When I had emails my passwords were Monolith2010 or Monolith2025/2525 Or Jupiter or Ganymede variations. I hyperventilated when 2010: The Year We Made Contact came out 🎬 🥳 🕺🏽
2010 is one of the best movies ever!
Tom Hanks was trying to finish out the series on film back in the day....
And it never happened.
Need one for 3001: The Final Odyssey!
There is. Link in description or can find it on my channel.
The spaceship in the novel generates artificial gravity by acceleration not by rotation.
Please, oh please - make this movie!
Make this and the Rama series. Would be awesome!
Denis Villenuieve will direct the latter project next when he is finished with Dune for WB.
Yes! "Rendezvous With Rama" is a great story and I wish it would be turned into a movie, that would be really great.
Also the similar story "EON" from Greg Bear should be made into a movie. Highly recommended to read the book anyway.
These are clips from Europa Report, Apollo 13, Prometheus, Mission to Mars.
and Lifeforce and Prometheus.
I didn't see that you wrote Prometheus already.
@@fuhrersavior9575 Ahh Lifeforce. This made me dig up my DVD again. Mathilda May and that great theme music.
@@fuzzblightyear145 speaking of the theme music: There's two versions of this film. One has the king arthur type music at the beginning and the end. The more rare version just saves that king arthur music til the end and has an extremely creepy nightmarish music in the beginning.
No Europa Report or Apollo 13 in my video mate. There's Armageddon, Alien 3, Prometheus, Alien Covenant, Lifeforce, Mission to Mars, Waterworld, Interstellar, Oblivion, 2010, Tarzan of Greystoke and the opening Planet shots I made myself with animated stills and green screen monolith. Hope you enjoyed my mashup/ concept trailer.
If only a movie was made.
Excellent! Had me going, for a moment I thought it was real.
They should made this film already!!
Brilliant work!!
If only this movie could be produced for real.....
Enjoyed playing spot the film...recognised OBLIVION, PROMETHEUS, INTERSTELLAR, ALIEN 3 and of course 2010. Would have liked to have seen 2061 and 3001 made into a film
I've read that book and it was really good!
Steven Speilberg could have done 2061 right after he did Schindler's List. With many of the same actors, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Jonathan Sagalle Embeth David.
i was thinking more of fincher to do it but spielberg would be awesome now that i think about it
But 2061 is the weakest book in the series imo, it seems obvious to me why it’s never happened.
You sure about that? He sold "AI" as a colab between himself and the estate of Kubrick, presumedly with fidelity to Stanley's style of sci-fi. That didn't happen, did it?
@@pheniellanz5271 David Fincher directing with Robert Downey Jr or Mark Ruffalo as the new Dr. Floyd would be excellent, but if not Brad Pitt or Jake Gyllenhaal would be just as good.
awww this needs to be done...all his books!!!
Would *love* to see this! And with AI image synthesis tools like Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI providing incredible power over manipulating images & video, I bet it won't be long until no-budget indie filmmakers will be able to product visual effects that make today's big budget effects look silly.
This would have been wonderful to see. As well as 3001. Be neat to see if someone would do it; and keeping in tradition diverging from the book a little too!
It would be interesting to see what filmmakers make of Ganymede and settlements on it, which are not described in enough detail in the book. I would have liked to know more about that, after all, it is the biggest moon in the solar system! (Although Titan might seem bigger if you include its thick atmosphere)
The reality would be that these moons would loose their ice and oceans over a period of time and become much smaller worlds of rock. They are what they are today, as they are so cold.
I would totally have watched this. I wish it could be made.
Welp, it's settled, I need to go back and reread this book. I think I'd probably enjoy it more now than when I was a teen. I never liked that a movie wasn't made.
merci
I just can't make believe I never saw Alien for this.
Wow, make that movie!

Well done w/ the editing. Best use of 2010 footage I've ever seen. I recognize many scenes from the novel 2061 in these jump cuts. Well done overall.
apparently, I've also forgotten that I have already commented on it.
Damn! Pretty good work dude!
Kubrick never believed in sequels. After he refused MGMs request they got Peter Hyams to make the film. But Hyams went to Kubrick for his approval and got his blessing. Arthur C. Clark was happy to get in another sci-fi movie based on his work. Ironically, the sequel 2010 became more out of date than 2001 since it based its plot on the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
What would he have thought of “Dr. sleep”??
That was pretty good! Awesome job
This makes me want to read 2001,a Space Oddssey,again!I don’t think I’ve done a new Arthur C.Clark 📕 book,at least,for awhile?😊
They should make a movie of "Childhood's End"....but definitely not in Hollywood.
There's a three part mini-series that came out in 2015. I haven't watched it yet so i don't know if it's any good.
@@wardeerent I hate to say it but it was "meh" . The director didn't "get it". May have been due to a limited budget. They also need to a mini series "At Long Last, Love"
Yes, please.
Brilliant!
Many thanks for this thrilling, intriguing bit of mystery and wonder!
If you should ever proceed with these ideas, I'll chip in a bit to help.
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate the positive feedback.
It would be nice to see something done with the 2001 franchise. Maybe with an ending we could understand. Let's hope Disney doesn't buy it. Then we'd probably get 2001 a Leggo Odyssey.
Ain't gonna lie. Lego 2001 sounds pretty cool. The toys, not the movie.
A good idea, neatly done. You obviously know your stuff. Unlike other commenters here though, I'd go out on a limb and argue that 2061 (and 3001) shouldn't be filmed, there's too much in 2061 that's far-fetched even for SF, and much as I enjoyed the novels I think they should have stopped with the epilogue to 2010 (which had a monolith on Europa still keeping humans away in 20,001).
3001 can't be filmed because although Clarke had it on paper first, Independence Day popularized the idea of hacking alien computers with a virus. You MIGHT do 2061, but there's a subplot about South African race politics that has aged very badly.
My God....its full of stars...
All I want is a 2061 or 3001 movie so i can see HALMAN on screen! They are the most interesting character and werent developed that much in the books. I know audiences would love to see HAL and Dave merged together, both as a great character design as well as a unique situation for the two characters to be in. The writing and character development opportunities are practically endless, and I know fanfic writers would agree. All the potential, plus a pretty large fanbase, I have no clue why they dont make more movies!
Fantastic.
That was brilliant - very nicely edited and also the best use of footage from Mission to Mars and Lifeforce!!! Loved the Interstellar water planet cut as well - means that you have obviously read the book!! Don't know why someone didn't have a crack at this movie in the eighties as I thought the 2010 movie was really good !!! Well done though, thanks for putting this up there, all the best !!!

Damn, I would love to see someone make this happen. You don't have to be just like Kubrick. Just make us think and wonder. Give us great effects but also let us use our imagination. Give us a great story that creates discussions for years to come. The baseline story is there with plenty to play and sculpt as a director. Movies like 2001:A Space Odyssey and Contact made me want to be an astronaut or an astronomer. No, that didn't happen for me but many did and are doing incredible things today and discovering new exoplanets daily! Somebody make it cool to be intelligent and adventurous. We need more inventors and explorers. We have enough influencers and venture capitalists. Our blind pursuit of money and material things will lead China past us in the space race, if they already haven't.
AWESOME! 👍👍👍👍
Is this a movie coming out? I gotta see it! However, in what's suppose to be a trailer, scenes were taken from 4 contemporary sci-fi presentations . good movies, but why are they here in a trailer?
because this is fan made. Not real. Probably not happening. And if it ever did, you bet your sweet ass it would just be loaded with WOKE SJW LGBTQIAXYZ123!@# preaching.
The movie would be about a trans-galactic-transexual-who drives a pontiac trans am and lives in transylvania and is also a gay dracula. Somehow gay, even though he identifies as a they and genderless but yet likes earth women (how that makes him gay, I haven't a clue).
The movie will constantly remind men they are horrible, and 1000x worse if a white male. It will also tell you that abortion is the best thing ever, and that legalized drugs is great for work productivity, but everyone should be allowed to claim illness and get free benefits and money for life that somehow nobody works to produce.
It will be THEE MOST WOKE movie of all time. Your public school kids (who are real Jesus hating monsters) will love it.
also there will be gay diamond beings in it or something who cares.
did they actually make this movie
I think someone, say, James Cameron, Christopher Nolan or Ridley Scott should do 2O6I: ODYSSEY THREE (Perhaps Ridley Scott would be the best choice).
Großartig!

This is perfect! How long did it take you to do this?
Thanks. My trailers always take a about a month to research and put together.
The truth can be told now .. the monolith...is your video phone scene.
The novels 2001 and 2010 were both brilliant, as was 3001. Sadly, 2061 is sort of the Jar Jar Binks of the entire 2001 storyline.
Maybe,if some one is interested, they’ll make another movie 🍿 out of this book?📚 😊

Kubrick’s 2001 exceptional creation infected by subsequent Clarke selling knockoffs to play on marketability.
Clarke wrote “2010: Odyssey Two” owing to the overwhelming support he received from readers imploring him to write a sequel. As for the original film, you should realize that Kubrick utilized no less than six separate Clarke short stories published in the 1950s, plus one novel, “Childhood’s End” as inspirational source material.
I read the book in one day!
you need somebody to imitate Kubrick's style. Hyams was capable, but he simply didn't try. walked out on the premier. the vid's not bad; I can link some of the scenes with the book.
Kubrick's style didn't match "2010." Kubrick wanted people to argue about what "2001" was all about; Clarke wanted "2010" the book to explain what happened (never mind that he later said each of the four books exists in its own alternate reality). Plus, moviegoers in the mid-80s were all about simple stories and visual spectacle with a dose of blowin' sh!t up.
@@Donleecartoons better than today's movies, no story & blowing everything up. What do you mean "walked out on the premier"?
