And if you've had a broken heart, it always hurts without some type of closure. The "it's not you it's me" speech. He needs his boys to take him out for strippers and clubbing to either forget his pain or remind him there's more past it.
Yeah, I've got to agree. He didn't just get broken up with, he got left at the altar by Carol who pulled a "if you really love me you'll marry me right now." When he tried to question if maybe they were moving too fast, all while she knew she still had feeling for Hal. His reaction was no doubt over the top, but he got done reeeal dirty.
To be fair, Carol didn’t just leave him but quite literally dragged him along with her despite still clearly being in love with hall and left him at the alter. A moment that could’ve all been avoided if Carol was real with him from the get go instead of playing him like a fool. Now, with that being said, I’m not gonna condone his actions while under the rings influence
Yeah. I feel like dismissing him as just "incel lantern" is unfair if you know the full story. His reaction to Carol leaving him is definitely silly and over the top, but it's a comic book. Over the top extreme reactions are kinda what they do

Yes, this kinda thing is common in comic books, but it definitely is more than just being sad on one's own. Nothing he says is about being left at the altar, its all about her "going back to him" and his desire to cause her and others to suffer. That's the ring, obs, but it also fits the incel MO pretty well. If he'd tried to destroy maybe himself, or just her, or another world, the "he's just sad" thing would stand better, but this is def "You love HIM? I must have revenge!" type stuff. Also it's a joke. This guy is laughing while he says it.
I don't agree, at all, with the "Nate is an incel" take. At no point he blames women for his sorrows. He is sad/mad at Carol for pretending to love him and leaving him at the altar. Also, the Sorrow ring appears to affect a person's mind, so he probably would be better without the ring, still sad, but not "I'm gonna make everyone sad" sad.
Also when you said "i must go on the internet and say how bad women are and i'll never love again" you're confusing men with women as they are the ones drowning tiktok and social media with "all men are scum, all men must die, blah blah blah".

She literally got found by her ring and left him at the altar, the sad lantern ring is their wedding ring, that he cried over afterwards until it attuned with the emo spectrum of sad.

I feel like that reading into Sorrow was...kinda weird? I was reading it and I didn't get any sense that he was being an incel of any kind. He didn't come out saying "Girls bad because you left me" he was clearly hurt, asking why he deserved to be hurt, he then runs from the closure Sapphire is trying to give him. Even the "I won't love again" thing seems more aimed at the fact that she is a _love lantern_ more than the fact she's a woman. That's not being an incel, that's just another Scorned Lover trope in a Superhero comic. I know an Incel, personally. He often comes off as normal until you start having deep conversations and then it all just kinda spills out and at that point you start asking yourself if the person you were talking to a few moments ago was replaced by some, vicious, angry psychopath. It's like two different people living in the same body, like some Jekyll and Hyde situation. I didn't get any of that vibe from Sorrow, I felt he was a dumb character for sure, but not an incel. Maybe that's where they plan to take him in the future? I can't say. But I just didn't see it in this scene.
For Green Lantern, I like that we get to see Hal and Wally working together to deal with Waller’s forces, Alan convincing Jadestone to use his powers for good and save the world from Waller, and Carol using her powers to try and save Nate from sorrow (making sure that she’ll become a hero, even though she was a hero since Blackest Night in 2009). I like that Jeremy Adams tried his best at combining his Green Lantern subplots with Absolute Power. Also, Hal and Wally using the Bat-Wolf because they’re the Brave and the Bold. Overall, this is a good comic. For the Green Lantern: War Journal backup, I like that John told Irons what has happened to him since their last encounter and that he has to deal with him working with his family to save the world from various threats. Overall, this is a good backup. For Absolute Power, I find it satisfying that all it the heroes were able the defeat Waller, Task Force VII, Failsafe, the Bureau of Sovereignty, and Waller’s multiversal army. This includes Oliver revealing that he’s a double agent (like I called since the start of this event), Dreamer being alive by escaping into Jon’s mind, Starr deactivating Task Force VII, all of the heroes’ powers being returned (and swapped and scrambled), Barry sending Waller’s multiversal army back to their worlds (making sure that Prime Earth will be inaccessible to the multiverse), and Waller being defeated after exposing her plans to the entire world. I like that we get to see Waller be imprisoned after all she’s done since the Infinite Frontier Suicide Squad, War For Earth-3, the ending of Dark Crisis, Knight Terrors, Beast World, and Absolute Power. This includes Dreamer locking Waller from accessing all of the heroes’ secrets and telling her that there might be something planted inside her brain. I wonder if Dreamer will ever tell Jay Nakamura that she’s alive, that she was forced to join Waller’s team because she has her parents (in which she found them), and escaped into Jon’s mind so that she can heal herself up, causing Jay to still be mad at her for joining Waller’s team (because Waller killed his mom and destroyed Gamorra) and to dump Jon (in which his appearances in upcoming Superman books show him staying in Metropolis) because Jon sided with Dreamer and that she helped him remove the Brainiac Queen from his mind and that Jay cared about himself instead of others (in which he’ll become a villain after Absolute Power because he’s a terrible and unnecessary character). I also like that the Trinity had a talk with Oliver, in which Oliver apologized to them for what he did, causing him to say that the world needs the Justice League again after their disbandment in Dark Crisis and that the Titans did an okay job taking their place (even though Tom Taylor’s Titans run is a retread of popular Wolfman-Perez Titans storylines that barely done anything). Also, teasing the upcoming JLU comic. Let’s hope that Oliver will apologize to the Green Arrow Family for what he did and for them to (eventually) forgive him in his solo series. Mark Waid and Dan Mora has done excell success on this event, including having a change in status quo for DC All In and teasing JLU this November. I was wrong that Absolute Power would be a terrible comic because DC events since Dark Crisis have been lackluster or terrible (in my opinion) and that there have been multiple writers prior to Waid not knowing how to handle this event. Overall, this comic (and event) is great and better than Dark Crisis, Lazarus Plant, Knight Terrors, and Beast World.

As someone who was/is following the green lantern story, what they kind of told you was that essentially The Guardians installed this sort of backup central battery on Earth, in the event OA was destroyed or the Green Lanterns simply didnt exist anymore, and that was said as the reason as to why a lot of the strongest lanterns come from that sector. Hal kinda just stumbled upon it, used it to make a ring, and then has been operating with that before the events of absolute power.
Rob!! Broooo..... You said that the Justice League Unlimited animated series was just okay?? are you kidding?? At that time it was fantastic!! C'mon, son!! Lolol
Waller could be back running the Suicide Squad with a little insurance policy in her head to make sure she follows orders and doesn't start acting independently
Dove is an extremely underrated character. She's incredibly powerful. She killed the Anti-Monitor in Blackest Night. She turned herself into a white lantern bullet and it was fired by a gun construct, headshot to Monty.
It is an interesting due to how sorrow is such an important emotion not only that but the sorrow lantern can take you out of the fight through intense sorrow, create energy and clouds. I don’t get the disrespect especially some of the dialogue the writers are goin with him
while i agree that sorrow as a concept for al antern is genious, you cant deny the reason for his literallly SUPER DEPRESSION is cause a girl left him, makes it kinda funny.

You went WAAY back with that one....ah the good ol days. I still love the comics, but reading them now is a bit different from reading with a kid's imagination. I still can't believe it was Hawk and not Capt. Atom
I forget what recent Green Lantern comic (#), but during the time that Hal Jordan and most other Earth-based Lanterns were stranded on Earth, they were given the location of a back-up Green Lantern Power Battery there. Why would the Guardians constantly complained about Hal Jordan keep a back up Power Battery on Earth?Well, sometimes parents seemingly pick on the kids they like the most.
everyone is overlooking the fact that this is why barry Allen is missing from Justice League Unlimited. His connection to the speed force is gone giving Wally west the floor. Impressive writing!
A guardian put a central battery in inner Earth. It was a recent Green Lantern comic. There is even a person guarding it, John Stewart I think was the Green Lantern or it could have been Hal Jordon, brought to the area where the central battery on Earth is at.
Never really followed Hawk and Dove much, knew about them, but never got into them, however I really like the way they utilized them on the Titans show on HBO/Maxx, they were given great character development throughout the show
Yeah I thought they were crap characters till the show. I always hated their silly costumes. The show gave them a tone missing from the comics. Too bad it's cancelled. Season 2 with Slade was fire
@@dblaq7301 yea that was definitely written better than the first season, like many shows though, by the time they realize it got a following, they had already canceled it
It started a movement/discourse called "women in refrigerators" where feminists started calling out writers/stories where women didn't exist as characters, but as plot devices. Also at the end of that Green Lantern run, Kyle Rainer gets revenge on Major Force by cutting off his head in a green projection bubble, and sends the head into space to float for all eternity. Major Force has regeneration powers & is functionally immortal so he's still alive/conscious through it all.
That's why I love the powers of shazam once they're stolen and the person that stole em either loses them or dies it goes back to the original owner. Also not all of black adams powers were lost so thats where extra help came from
Relying on heroes who have proven themselves over countless years to protect earth. Amanda: Nah Relying on evil villains, and robots that have tried to destroy earth plus many times to protect earth. Amanda: Hell yeah!
Nightwing fits the leader role like Batman so much…..it’s a old part in the comics when Batman told a young Grayson that he’ll lead the justice league after meeting them then early in his nightwing career he messed up so bad and asked Batman was he disappointed in him and now he is calling the shots !!!!
The way the amazo's can go back in time, reminds me of how kang in marvel comic's doubles himself by going back in time, so can he never be truly killed, as he always has a back up plan. It may even be that he does die at this moment, but he sends a message back in time, so that he doesn't make the same mistake, which is a bit of a plot device, but kang is awesome so i don't really mind too much!
You asked awhile back for anime recommendations Rob and listening to you gush about how the Amazos heal themselves leads me to an easy pick: Re:Zero is about a kid sent to another world where he learns in the absolute harshest way possible how weak and ordinary he is again, and again, and again in a very similar manner. The story also deconstructs what it would be like to have that ability, and doesn't shy away from getting really effed up (which I'm sure you' appreciate too).
When the event first started, I almost dropped it because I adore green arrow and him working for Amanda. Waller is like Superman asking Darkside for a job. 😂😂😂 I should’ve known better so fucking cool.

The slander!!! Animal man is the literal conduit to The Red/Animal Life!
Hal kinda just stumbled upon it, used it to make a ring, and then has been operating with that before the events of absolute power.
yea wasn't Tom watching it till Hal found it. Thats why he couldn't leave earth?
@@Jezee213 exactly
Rob!! Broooo..... You said that the Justice League Unlimited animated series was just okay?? are you kidding?? At that time it was fantastic!! C'mon, son!! Lolol
Exactly he’s Bugging!
Bro said JLU is okay, not knowing it some of the greatest DC TV known to man
Thanks!
Animal man is awesome! If you haven't read his original run you're missing out.
Waller could be back running the Suicide Squad with a little insurance policy in her head to make sure she follows orders and doesn't start acting independently
Wait, wait, wait, you're telling me Major Force can manipulate all kinds of energy and yet HE CHOSE TO FRIDGE THE GIRLFRIEND?!
Psycho....
Ty! I was thinking the same thing. He chose to dismember her and fridge the parts! Thats sad.
@@AbigatorM true. Though while it is a little lazy with how he became the sorrow lantern, given it is carol and Hal we’re talking about I can see why it’d send him into a spiral to a deep depression.
@@AbigatorM Would you just chill if the person you thought was the love of your life just leaves you at the altar and goes back to her x? They did this man dirty af. There are lots of people that would unsubb from life after getting done so dirty.
@@Famousfire97 i think you 2 miss the point rob made und i ment.
counter question. would you want EVERYONE to be sad cause you are sad? and blame everyone, even people not involved? thats why rob compared him to incels. and what made it funny.
like i said in my first answe.r i think the concept of a sorrow lantern or depression lantern is great. but using hearbreak for a girl just made to good of a joke.
@@AbigatorM no one miss the point, we're dismissing it as ignorant. Also that's how all the lantern rings work, they're powered by the fucking emotional spectrum. Someone suffering from sorrow, being amplified by it by the ring and is seeking to pass it to everyone..... how is that different than how the other lanterns work?
When i see dove i immediately remember that hawk went nuts, got time powers and killed a bunch of people.
You went WAAY back with that one....ah the good ol days. I still love the comics, but reading them now is a bit different from reading with a kid's imagination. I still can't believe it was Hawk and not Capt. Atom
Great vid Rob, you couldve mentioned when Martian Manhunter scolded Batman for saying something about not mentioning the plan to everyone xD
Keep on carrying that torch brother Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re awesome rest in peace Benny.
We finally got an EMO LANTERN CORPS! 😂😭🤣
This was a good one, youre the king of comic recaps:D
Another bange thanks brother!
Did he say Justice League Unlimited is ok? Rob, you’re losing us here man! Get it together!!!
everyone is overlooking the fact that this is why barry Allen is missing from Justice League Unlimited. His connection to the speed force is gone giving Wally west the floor. Impressive writing!
good point!
Waller got that fire shape up though! 22:43
Lmao facts
Damm Rob. 304..that hurt..😢
😂😂😂
“JLU it’s ok”
Never in my life have I wanted to someone to drink a gallon of garlic till now
A guardian put a central battery in inner Earth. It was a recent Green Lantern comic. There is even a person guarding it, John Stewart I think was the Green Lantern or it could have been Hal Jordon, brought to the area where the central battery on Earth is at.
It was Tom "Pie face" that was guarding it till Hal got there.
6:50 damn @ComicsExplained 😂😂😂
Never really followed Hawk and Dove much, knew about them, but never got into them, however I really like the way they utilized them on the Titans show on HBO/Maxx, they were given great character development throughout the show
Yeah I thought they were crap characters till the show. I always hated their silly costumes. The show gave them a tone missing from the comics. Too bad it's cancelled. Season 2 with Slade was fire
@@dblaq7301 yea that was definitely written better than the first season, like many shows though, by the time they realize it got a following, they had already canceled it
9:00 "the whole of reddit and twitter will inderstand my pain"
Definitely captures the sorrows of this world
the grin on dreamer's face shows she's got that fire in her blood.❤🔥
Rob got some back takes this episode 😂
Nightwing's plan: "Instead of doing nothing, we're going to fight back."
I love how rob goes from
Shitting on Dove to Geeking for Major Force😂😂😂
I can always count on Comics Explained to remind me that there are grown adults out there who still whisperyell.
Your story telling is so refreshing.
It still cracks me up that Batman has a Bat-branded Bat-holo projector in his utility belt...
14:02 the soldier in the middle is is holding a literal covenant plasma rifle 😂😂😂😂😂
Another dope ass video RIP Big Rob
6:36
....damn.... stuffed in the fridge????
...ok Rob....im all in...that shyt wuz bonkerz son ! ! ! 😂
Somebody is about to get FRIDGED.
25:11. She hid herself to repair herself?? WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOORRRRRR!
Put some respect on Richard Grayson Name!
Fact's
Holy sh*t how dream came back is the type of story telling i like that was freaking brilliant
That's why I love the powers of shazam once they're stolen and the person that stole em either loses them or dies it goes back to the original owner.
Also not all of black adams powers were lost so thats where extra help came from
Well if this was taking place on this earth. Amanda Waller would still be elected president after the broadcast😂....😭
Wouldnt matter.
Anything negative was a deepfake. It’s all a conspiracy and the lack of evidence, witnesses is PROOF POSITIVE it’s definitely real.
seriously, this all just 🔥s me up!!
Relying on heroes who have proven themselves over countless years to protect earth.
Amanda: Nah
Relying on evil villains, and robots that have tried to destroy earth plus many times to protect earth.
Amanda: Hell yeah!
The mixed up powers is neat but didn’t we just do that with Lazarus Planet?
Gotta love Rob always taking 10 mins to shot fish in a barrel to maintain that morale high ground.
Nightwing fits the leader role like Batman so much…..it’s a old part in the comics when Batman told a young Grayson that he’ll lead the justice league after meeting them then early in his nightwing career he messed up so bad and asked Batman was he disappointed in him and now he is calling the shots !!!!
You call cyborg iPhone. What's to stop it from referring to the sorrow lantern as REDDIT? 🤣🤣🤣
Batman figuring out the Amazo reverse things wasn't hand wavy. Bruce recognizes during one of their repairs and realizes what tech it must be
can’t see amanda waller without thinking of the viola davis portrayal she really did her justice
Fantastic run! Loved this series and your presentation of it. I hope you enjoy Justice League Unlimited!
I'm mad you didn't make a "when doves cry" joke but great video
Rob the Power Battery was discovered very early on in this run, Also Nate’s fine but he just isn’t in Carol’s league lol
Oh awesome, I must have missed that then.
If Sorrow gets a sidekick they should be named Pity Party
Keep smashing it!! Go big blue!
You're a creative genius, no joke!
17:36 I do think there are a set of Earth 3 comics called crime syndicate, they came out in 2021
You asked awhile back for anime recommendations Rob and listening to you gush about how the Amazos heal themselves leads me to an easy pick: Re:Zero is about a kid sent to another world where he learns in the absolute harshest way possible how weak and ordinary he is again, and again, and again in a very similar manner. The story also deconstructs what it would be like to have that ability, and doesn't shy away from getting really effed up (which I'm sure you' appreciate too).
Great video as usual!!!! But, I missed what happened to the Braniac Queen?
When the event first started, I almost dropped it because I adore green arrow and him working for Amanda. Waller is like Superman asking Darkside for a job. 😂😂😂 I should’ve known better so fucking cool.
21:26 didn’t know trump was part of the flash family 😂😂
The heck?!😭
The "eeeeeeh it's ok' is crazy
