Nomifactory is actually fun to play as everyday package. GT:NH is just a challenge. I failed at it but will try again, there is something appealing there. As long as it's honestly advertised it's ok IMHO. About Supersymmetry - some things are just for nerds.
i dunno bout yall but grinding to make 25 machines for one chemical chain is what makes it fun for me, I love setting up machines and seeing all of them light up knowing that I am finally finished with that processing chain
I'm old enough to remember the original Industrial Craft with its exploding machines, tiered lossy power lines, and finicky crafting recipes. I was so glad when the big tech packs got more sensible mods like thermal expansion and mekanism etc. When I learned some crazy guy named Greg thought the worst parts of IC were the best parts, and expanded them to be even worse, i had the shocking realization that I was a dumb normie.
my "favorite" part of IC (and i think IC2 the times i played tekkit or w/e) was this very common scenario Me: "I would like to move this machine. i will break the block with my pickaxe because thats what i do in the funny block game to pick up stone/metal things" IC: "go fuck yourself, heres a machine casing instead. have fun with that expensive crafting recipe again, IDIOT. remember your wrench next time, MORON" why anyone thought this was an acceptable mechanic, even in Ye Ancient Alpha Days, is beyond me
The current version of susy can be completed in 300-400 hours(atleast for me), same for whole nomifactory, and only GTNH rn gives you 4000+ hours of *gameplay*. And in my opinion, playing Greg is more interesting the more time you spend building your base. So only GTNH can give you the FULL EXPERIENCE of Greg. But along the way you will forget what grass looks like. But a samurai has no goal, only a path.
I am happy, I genuinely don’t know why, but I am, it’s not really the huge difficulty spikes and the long waits that get to me, indeed, it is almost the opposite, vanilla Minecraft is what I couldn’t get myself into, but then I realized why I didn’t stay on one world after I reached iron, I don’t just tolerate huge goals, I NEED huge goals to keep me motivated, the more I have to work on the better, I HATE not having a goal so much that I deliberately hinder my progress towards my last goal so I don’t have a point at which I have one goal and after that I’d have nothing, and having nothing, in my experience, is so much worse than being swamped with work because boredom, for how often I’ve had to sit through it, it is the bane of my existence, and since I don’t know how to make my own goals, I need a mod to spoon feed them to me
GT6 is really the way to go for a realistic feeling of progressing through technological ages. GTNH and TFC do a good job of simulating this but in my opinion GT6 perfects it. Technological Journey is also a good example. It's a lot like SUSY.
I think the key to something like Gregtech is to kinda just play it how you normally play Minecraft, while remembering in the back of your head that you've got a long-term goal and maybe the stuff you build could house what you need. People get super goal-focused with mods like this and I don't really understand why.
tbf i agree 100%, but i still find it fun and not hard, also nomi has an expert mode that changes the gameplay quite a bit, re-adding steam age, making some recipes harder, and disabling some mods and features like deep mob learning and snad being super fast, which do change the experience a bit
The stone age GT you were describing is a large part of gregtech 6, it's really fun My only complaint is just how much mining, manual smelting, and coal consumption you have to go through to get even a small amount of resources, so i never got out of the steam age I'm probably just doing something wrong though, I'll come back to it eventually
@@robson6924 That does help, but even large amounts of it burn really quickly, and you've constantly gotta be keeping the coke ovens going to produce enough, it's just a chore and a half

We did, but there were many issues like zalgo saying that he didn't want to add the custom dungeons, planet insisting on a 24/7 chemistry only policy, and that making good world gen and custom mechanics actually takes a lot of time. Maybe in a few years I'll rejoin, or make a new pack, but I've left the team.
Maybe instead of cutting out thousands of hours of experience, try making each milestone that player reaches more rewarding, that will give more motivation for players.
Omnifactory is where I started, and that was a good place to start. I agree with dreammasterxxl that the early game is enough and we don’t need more of it. I also like that that magic mods are there but for the most part are not mandatory or central to progression. But is it fun? Well, when I play I get into a time warp where hours seem to just vanish. On saying that, I am stalled a bit at LuV. I’ve been running out of glowstone of all things and that has annoyed me. By now I feel I should have mostly infinite basic resources, but I don’t. Bees? IC2 crops? Meh.
I've been playing terrafirmagreg for 1.20.1, and it is actually a super enjoyable pack. TFC now has an in-game guide and Create has been added to supplement the early game terrafirmacraft grind. The developers added quests to guide all the way through the pack as well. Highly recommended.

I like gregtech in general and find it fun. But I'm also the kind of person who can play on a vanilla world for a year and also have fun. If I was super goal oriented I could understand finding it all super tedious, but I've been slowly plinking away at HV and I'm also into EV. I've been at it for 6 months casually, mostly focused on automating things and getting better at building. I also don't assume I'll "beat the pack", and just set myself the long term goal of "unlock AE2". Once I get that I'll probably set a new one.
youre never forced to use it, unless youre a completionist going for the gregstar. anyway it would be a lot easier than GTNH because you can automate all your power and resources outside of greg tech using the other ATM9 mods. its actually weird its in the pack at all since playing with other tech mods with easy resources defeats the purpose of it.
