The split between north and south Korea was not that long ago, it's been 71 years since the split, and a lot of people in South Korea still have family in North Korea. I was even purposely given a place to work as far away from my home so I couldn't return for a lunch break. It ain't that hard for me to imagine North Korea... And when it was clear that they WERE making weapons, he did nothing about it.

I also noticed that she seems to really enjoy the spotlight & relish in her celebrity status, which made me very weary about her real motives. But her contradictions, distortions & lies can't be excused away or justified. So many commenters here have made asinine remarks about trauma, developing memories, age counting differences, etc. in order to deny or deflect the objective facts presented here. Really sad that people become so emotionally invested in someone like Park to the point they are unable or unwilling to critically analyze the reality & the facts that clearly demonstrate her manipulation & fabrication of the facts. She can't seem to get her story straight . Anything about the life about her family is said to be lies. Life in North Korea may be shit. Life in many countries of the world is shit. She was never a “defector”. At most she is a refugee, at least, an economic migrant. Please do your due diligence and research this woman's credibility. She has already been exposed as a fraud exaggerating/fabricating her claims. Her stories have been inconsistent and contradictory over the years, raising questions as to the veracity of her claims.
Anyone who is tempted to believe that this woman might be telling the truth should look up ***. Park Yeonmi is a compulsive liar and a narcissist. She has been caught in a million lies and simply profits off her NK sob story and by virtue signaling. No better than Greta Thunburg!!!!!
Short version, her story is full of holes and she has changed it multiple times (she can't even remember it consistently which is a problem with people who make things up since things that actually happened are just plain easier to remember than things you made up for profit.) Also see "Why do North Korean defector testimonies so often fall apart?" in The Guardian.
The combination of cash incentives (from various political organizations as well as the government) and the media’s constant pursuit for disturbing stories encourage refugees to exaggerate for financial rewards as well as popularity which in her case, she was able to use to tour the world AND become an actress. Also look up North Korean defector Shin Dong-hyuk who wrote a bestselling book about his life in a gulag he was never actually in and admitted the fact AFTER earning vast sums of money with a memoir which he made up.!
We have to do a great job in putting together a very strong case that exposes Park as a deceitful opportunist & charlatan who took advantage of the Western society's goodwill & sympathy for her own financial gain.
Her mother and herself lives like princesses according to testimony of people who knew her while she lived in the DPKR. She has become a Millionaire and is living the dream. She didn't waste any time capitalizing on the misfortunes of her fellow North Koreans.
Really sucks that UA-cam has made it so easy for con artists to create a channel with a fake bleeding heart story and get super rich off the caring public that falls for it. There's so much of this going on across many different subjects.

There are adds on her videos so your information about demonetisation is outdated.
She is such an inspiration. Truly a gift to humanity. No one is perfect, but she's pretty close.
Everyone is pretty close.
The amount of bravery it took for her to post this is immeasurable. God bless her.
Thinking about how hard it was for this woman to escape North Korea is amazing! I hope the rest of her family didn’t suffer
The fact that going hungry was an option for lunch is so sad.
There are some kids here in N. America go without lunch and dinner sometimes too. There were many times I went to bed without dinner. My mother made "too much" to get state help. But she was pretty irresponsible too. Sorry, just had to input that. Lol. What's going on with those kids in North Korea is sad tho. They shouldn't have to worry, be hungry, or work manual labor.
In the early 90s, we didn't have a cafeteria. You packed a lunch. If you didn't pack a lunch, you didn't get lunch. That was just how it was
Wow I’m so sad to hear that. In my district, parents who were able to could sponsor kids lunches so no one ever went hungry
That's happening now in some schools; kids with unpaid lunch debt their parents can't pay get their food thrown away. It's inhumane.
I literally go to school and eat nothing for lunch that's just a choice of mine tho
Holy shit, I can’t possibly begin to imagine what it’s like living that way... I just found your channel, and it’s so eye-opening to hear about what’s going on in other parts of the world. I’m glad you were able to escape, nobody should be forced to live like that. Best of luck with your future endeavors!
Alex M holy shit dude, imagine telling someone that grew up in a country that they were “forced to push a narrative”, while you never set foot there.
@Alex M She lives in the US.
You are handsome 🤩
@Alex M you're commenting this under every post lmal
@Alex M dude, get the fu€k outta here! I have been to DRNK seven times on "vacation" and what I was able to see/photo when I could get more than a meter away from my "handlers" was more appalling than my time working in Senegal where people didn't have access to most things we take for granted. I saw a fat-ass Supreme douchebag living the lap of luxury while the people that actually do something for the true betterment of the country are starving for a tyrant that has systematically brainwashed every citizen since birth. The fact that my algorithm caught your BS link on over 1200 comments from 14 separate defectors speaks your truth. I've seen it and THANK GOD my shoes were the only thing they didn't search when departing or I'd still be there, just probably beaten to death!
Imagine growing up in a country where your freedom is being taken away every single day. We take way too many things for granted!
Seems like the west right now 👍
Seems like the life in islamic countries
Happening right before your eyes! Keep looking at the telly. It will all be over soon!
@@chalooter I don’t need to watch TV to know. I know what’s happening around me. 😉
@@Homeschoolkindermum My point exactly. Ignore the brainwash box.
Blessed be. Thank you. May God bless and keep you, and us all.
These 13 minutes were more valuable than the 13 years I’ve been watching UA-cam. I really want to make a documentary called “$10 Rabbit Food” thanks, this really flipped my brain somehow.
Alex M, What narrative? She is simply sharing her experiences. You are ridiculous.
Alex M are you a spy or what
@Alex M what? How was she forced by south Korea if she lives is American?
@Alex M okay, but are you racist against asians-?
@Alex M it’s because i have magical powers🤓 jk. by the way i watched your link and those “north koreans” had Seoul accent; the whole video depended on a statement made by that one lawyer without any evidences just like the rest of the defectors from north korea. I’d rather believe on the stories of people who ran away from death than a south korean lawyer who has never been to north korea. I just wanted you to think about it.
